Hard work continues at Chelsea's Cobham training base as Enzo Maresca's team prepare for the season ahead. Almost two weeks since the Italian took training for the very first time after swapping Leicester for London, it’s obvious the available players are enjoying the tactics and drills of the new coach .
They will hopefully be on show from next week in the USA. League One side Wrexham are first up on the club's pre-season tour of the United States, with the game set for Thursday, July 25. Prior to jetting off across the Atlantic, the Blues continue to work at their Cobham base. Few this were spotted in the final days.
Renato Veiga is getting to know his new Chelseateammates after making the move to the club from Basel one week ago. the 20-year-old will be hoping to make his mark in Maresca's Chelsea team this season. In the latest batch of training photos released by the club, Veiga, and the rest of the squad for that matter, could be seen undergoing some fitness work to ensure they're in the best position possible to attack the new season.
Team spirit on show
Chelsea players do appear to be loving life under new head coach Maresca as they prepare for the new season. The spirit in the camp was very much on show in a short clip posted as Andrey Santos scored what appeared to be the winning goal.As soon as the Brazilian scored in the small goals the players were using, Noni Madueke was first to his teammate and called for the rest of the side to join in with the celebrations. Players such as Raheem Sterling, Malo Gusto, Robert Sanchez and Benoit Badiashile were there and could be seen jumping up and down together, with new signing Veiga also involved and all smiles as his team celebrated their victory. The mood at Chelsea appears to be very good ahead of the new season despite Enzo Fernandez latest issue.
At a time when we have just seen the first images from the club of Veiga in Chelsea training, the same also goes for fellow new arrival Marc Guiu. Opportunities could certainly be there for Guiu in pre-season as the Blues are not exactly blessed with a host of striker options at present. In Chelsea's latest batch of training images, the youngster could be seen going through a number of exercises and also doing some work with the ball. He scored a fantastic goal at todays training and was seen celebrating with teammates
On the subject of strikers, there was a rare sighting of Armando Broja on the training pitch at Cobham. The striker was part of Albania's squad for Euro 2024 but he has since returned to the club's base for the start of pre-season training. Broja certainly hasn't been a prominent figure in regards to the players being snapped by the club photographer at training. A strong pre-season is certainly going to be needed if he wants to play a key part in Maresca's plans going forward. About 30 players have being in the group since last week. With Armando Broja returning since then, along with David Datro Fofana, with new signings Renato Veiga and Marc Guiu, there are already too many players even for pre-season. By the time Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, and Marc Cucurella come back from the European Championship, with Enzo Fernandez joining them from the Copa America, there may well be almost 40 players in the initial travelling squad. Reports for Possible Chelsea pre-season traveling squad was revealed. The list includes Sanchez, Petrovic, Bergstrom, Bettinelli, Chalobah, Chilwell, Cucurella, Gusto, Colwill, Adarabioyo, Disasi, Badiashile, Acheampong, Veiga, James, Fernandez, Gallagher, Chukwuemeka, Santos, Caicedo, Lavia, Dewsbury-Hall, Dyer, Mudryk, Madueke, Sterling, Jackson, Nkunku, Washington, Palmer, Guiu, George, Kellyman.
