Wait, this is OoT Link and his father died in the Hyrule war and his mother died after reaching the Deku tree... Maybe he hasn't been hugged since he was a baby...
Yeah... think about Cremia too. She lives with only her sister, her parents are dead, the Gorman Bros are terrorizing them, and during the time when the final day hits, she's pretty much done with life knowing the impending doom.
It’s kind of sweet that Link finally gets some positive reinforcement and affection for once. This is technically the same Link that had his childhood robbed from him and forced to fight an adults battle on his own.
Yeah and not only that, but it’s gotta be extra special considering Cremia looks exactly like adult Malon, someone who Link will never see again, or remember who he was. Because he knew adult Malon in a future that will never happen. It would’ve been like getting hug from someone who looks a like a friend who’s effectively dead to him.
Fun fact Yoshiaki kolzumi (the co creator of majoras mask) said: "this was made out of an animation mistake, when we were setting up links position, we put him too close that his face got lodged into cremia. When we saw that we immediately changed it to be part apart of the game, saying that this would have been every boys dream, especially mine" (This was during an sbs)
The hug, obviously. Link needs it. The poor kid goes through all sorts of darkness and has to fight all the time. Having to do what he does would make any normal kid forget what love and humanity feels like. Not to mention his origins being of loss of family and the loneliness of an outcast until Navi came into his life, which forced him to go on a life changing adventure where he had to say goodbye to the people he either barely had time to get to know or people who had belittled him to the point of being a socially awkward shut in. He’s then forced into an adulthood that he wasn’t ready for AT ALL and would never truly grasp it until his fight with Ganon was finished only for Navi, Link’s best friend, leaves him and dies after completing her mission and just expects Link to understand and get over it without telling him anything, assuming that he had already mentally matured, which wasn’t fair to Link, either. He had no family, barely any friends, and was drafted at the age of 11 to fight a seven year war. There was no room for love in his childhood. He didn’t even know how to feel the sadness in him because he doesn’t have any control in his life since WE control him. The hug is exactly what Link needs in his life. Cremia is a real one!
Too add to that, in Twilight Princess we meet the Heros Shade who is the restless spirit of oot Link. The guy wasnt even allowed to die in piece. Based on the armor he likely became a knight after his adventure in majoras mask and he likely fell in battle at somepoint after growing up since the Heros Shade is really tall, i think he should at least have been 20 when he died. Maybe his life wasnt all bad though, being the one to oust ganons plan would get him some credit with the royal family, wich likely came with some sort of reward or recognition. That and based on TP Link being a direct descendent of him we know that he did have at least one child and based on TP link being of farmer heritage and having a horse thats obviously descendet from Epona we can conclude that he probably took marlon up on her marriage request so at least he had a loving family for his lifetime post Majora. Also Adult Marlon has the same jugs as cremia...
The hug any day of the week because it’s very likely that was the first time Link had ever been hugged in his life and the little guy needs it after everything he’s been through
@IHitTheWater malon and cremia are the same person skull kid didn't know people aged so he thought they were duffrent people and thought malon and cremia were sisters.
Growing up, I didn't feel much physically. But I remember getting the first time I got the hug(which was the first time I did it a second time) - and I let the game just stay like that for a while. I dunno, the hug just spoke to me.. Kinda made me feel good seeing such affection for your good deed. ....I want a hug.
I get that man. Majoras mask is a fantastic game. any game that is able to resonate emotions from players based on how the game connects to their personal live is a true work of art.
Watching that brought a wave of nostalgia to me. I remember when I first got that scene, I just have been about 6-7 years old, I perfectly finished the milk run minigame, and when Cremia hugged my my 6 year old brain went “holy shit a girl just hugged me”
That's what made this game so special is how many things changed and were different despite having to live out the same 3 days. Good humor and another great video :D
a similar thing happened to me, it was always the hug but one day I got the rupee and thought I did something wrong like "why she didn't want to hug me?"
@@brandobatel Huh. I wonder if another quest's completion has any effect on it. Seems like someone must've datamined this, with how old and popular the game is. Just not sure where to look . . .
Imagine how much more impactful it would've been if Link hugged her back after some time. The first feeling of affection he's ever had despite all he's been through. Just for him to finally feel any assemblance of a loving embrace.
Every copy of MM is personalized 🤣🤣🤣 I remember getting the Gold Rupee if I did the defense perfectly and getting the hug everytime the milk bottles got hit even once or it's just my memory being weird I guess.
Slightly annoying fun fact: if you interact with Cremia while shes preparing to leave the Romani Ranch just at the RIIIIGHT time, she will start moving while you have the text box is on the screen, and you cant interact with the yes and no buttons in the textbox, which basically means you're softlocked, want to know how i know this? Well i was unfortunate enough to do a frame perfect A press when i wanted to protect Cremia's milk jugs, talk about tough luck!
The Huge Rupee and hug happens in a 50-50 chance, but it is so adorable when the latter happens. The Hero of Time highly deserves it for all the trouble he went through.
@@brandobatel thank you so much ive been playing this and OoT on switch and nostalgic memories aren't covering all this stuff. Keep up the great stuff!
@@davidbeaver21 The Troupe Leader Mask can also be worn in the Gormon Bros. Ranch, they'll start crying and won't fo any business with Link until you remove the mask.
man i remember playing this game a lot as a kid and when i completed the game and just had to fight the last boss, i played the song of time backwards to slow time then did all bombers quest and temple fights, when i did this quest i got this cutscene was so confused but was happy i remember leaving it like this on screen for a good 10 min.
Aside of how stunning Cremia is, I remember someone saying this detail and is true. She is the only one who gave link a hug. (hero of time specifically talking about.) Saria and even Zelda never hugged him, and not really a hug does not need to be arousing. Link never got a hug until Creamia. 🙂
'I don't know why I did it again and again, but something made me come back just to... just to see her. I've already got the mask and the money. What else was I expecting? One day, she didn't have anything to give me. No worries. I didn't help her for a reward. I was ready to go, but then, suddenly, a warm feeling I hadn't felt for long. She held me in her arms silently, and for a brief moment, I forgot we were doomed.'
I just realized Link doesn't hug her back because he probably hasn't been hugged in his whole damn life, he's like... A child, trying to save the world, there's probably not a lot of affection in his life
He was so starved for any display of affection for the longest part of his life _that he couldn't even raise his arms or do anything to reciprocate_ the hug. He just felt warm and fuzzy inside.
As a lover of milk I think the choice should be obvious. ÙᴗÚ The Golden Rupee! I'm gonna use that to buy all of the milk in the world, cause if Dad won't come back with it then I will! ÒOÓ
Fun fact: Wearing the Troupe Leader's Mask will keep the brothers from attacking you so you can get this hug with minimal effort, the downside is you look rather silly wearing it when the cutscene plays out lol
I developer said that this happened because when they were testing this cutscene they accidentally put link too close to Cremia but they instantly loved it so they programmed it as an Easter egg
