A biopic on Majrooh Sultanpuri, the legendary Urdu poet, lyricist & songwriter. Born as Asrar ul Hassan Khan in Nizamabad, Sultanpuri started of his career as a Hakim. Not finding much success from his medical practice, he slowly drifted to the world of ghazals & mushairas. He then went on to be in the Indian film industry from where he got roaring fame and success.
His works are still regarded as one of the finest gems in literature. Some of his famous works include: Jalte hai jiske liye, Chhod do aanchal, Babu Samjho Ishare, Chala jata hoon among many more. One of the famous Urdu verse is also credit to him: "Main akela hee chala tha janib-e-manzil magar, Log saath aate gaye aur kaarvan banta gaya!"

अभी तक राज्य सभा टेलीविजन पर यह श्रृंखला उनकी नज़र उनका शहर के नाम से जानी जाती थी । अब इस श्रृंखला का विस्तार करते हुए इसे विरासत के नाम से शुरू किया गया है । इस कड़ी में पहला शो ज़ोहरा सहगल पर है । कृपया अब विरासत के नाम से इस शो को देखें । उनकी नज़र उनका शहर श्रृंखला के सभी शो यू ट्यूब पर उपलब्ध हैं ।

I am a great fan of sahir and kaifi Azmi but the versatility of Mazrooh is amazing as he touches every ones heart with light and simple lyrics also.We salute this great poet.

Very Very beautiful experience of good old golden songs. Still these are alive in the heart of every one and in every walk of life people. I LOVE all songs of Majrooh. HE LEFT MAJROOH TO ALL OF US. May Allah almighty bless him on the day of judgement.

Badalji thanks a lot for compiling this wonderful video of Majroo Sultanpuri. Hope once you have done with the all the writers your will cover music directors, film stars and last but not least Directors. As some of them are still live u can get direct information from them. Also If possible pls make show of 1 hr or 2 parts of 30 mins each. Once again thx a lot.

'दुनिया बनाने वाले.....' तीसरी कसम का है और इस फिल्म का निर्माण गायक मुकेश ने किया था न कि राज कपूर ने, अब चूंकि राज कपूर, संगीतकार शंकर-जयकिशन, गीतकार मज़रूह सुल्तानपुरी और मुकेश में आपसी घनिष्ठता थी कि इनको अलग नहीं किया जा सकता.

Slight correction, Bahu Begum's all songs were written by Sahir Ludhianvi including Hum intezar karenge.

This is real surprise for us when it is said that 'Duniya bananewale' of Teesri Kasam is written by Majrooh Sahab and not by Shailendra himself.

It was written by Hasarat Saab in film. Film Teesari Kasam was produced by Shailendra Jee.

Sahir and Kafi were heavyweights but from the rest of the pack ,you could put HJP ,MSP ,Shailendra and Shakeel B Y in your choice of preference .They were all strong in their own rights and command respect from from us.

Excellent programme. He was one of the finest lyricists of our Hindi Film industry. Only Shailendra , Rajinder Krishan and Sahir could match him. There is one mistake. Majrooh did not write the songs of Bahu Begum. The real lyricist was Jan Nissar Akhtar but he was forced to give Sahir's name for business sake. Dr Surender Bhutani Warsaw (Poland)

Rajeshji, I randomly picked up your episode and I am addicted to it. Can you do something on the life of great ghazal singer Jagjit Singh. Thanks. I watched at a stretch 3 episodes today. One on Amrita Pritam, 2nd Khuswant Singh and the 3rd one on Mazrooh Sultanpuri.
