Thanks to all eminent personalities who shared great memories of Sahir Sahab. Very heart touching poetry was written by Sahir Sahab after the death of first Prime Minister of our country Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. A great poet...1 of many this great country has introduced to us (I am not Indian..but understand Hindi and Urdu). Heart touching. I AM A GREAT FAN OF SAHIR SAHIB. I WAS COMING BACK FROM DUTY IN OCT. 1980 WHEN I READ IN THE NEWSPAPER THAT SAHIR SAHIN IS NO MORE WITH US. I STARTED WEEPING IN THE FACTORY VAN. SINCE THEN I DISTRIBUTED HUNDREDS OF COPIES OF HIS BOOKS AMONG MY FRIENDS IN PESHAWAR PAKISTAN.

I dedicate this to Sahir Sahib. I was Secretay of College Union `Government College Ludhiana', and had staged `Indo-Pak Mushaira', In which he participated along with Col Faiz Amed Faiz, from Pakistan and had recited his poem` TAJ MAHAL', and made people have tears in their eyes, and later on his invitation, I met him at the doorsteps of Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi along with `Amrita Pritam' at the staging of `Asian Poetical Symposium'. My verbal dialogues with him are a history...how can we forget HIM.

The legendary poet left the indelible impressions upon the art and imaginations of all mankind...

Truly extraordinary documentary. In my view his one song/shairi "sansaar se bhage phir te ho - bhagwan ko tum kya jano ge" is enough for me. But then, he gave hundreds of others. There are two lyricists that touch me soul - with different styles but great depth; one Sahir ji and the other Shailendra ji. I would like to thank Rajesh ji for this documentary from the bottom of my heart.

I came to know about Sahir ji poetry when I was age 20. I was so impressed with his poetry that I memorized entire contents of his book: Sahir aur uski shayri. I liked his identity with society's downtrodden; women, poor, weak. His poem against kings and their musoleums, like againt Taj Mahal " meri mahboob kahin aur mila kar mujhse." became very popular in India. He was a groundbraeking poet.

Very very beautiful person , very rich in words. I was weeping today while hearing love story of Sir Sahir and Madam Amrita. So true lovers. She used to collect and smoke half of left cigarettes of Sagir Sb. How love was in her mind that she could feel his him in his left cigarettes.

I first heard about Sahir when one of my friends gave me a book translated from Urdu to Hindi, when i was in class 10...It was Talkhiyaan by Sahir ...and on very first page it was written something like "Ashko me jo paaya tha geeton me likha hai" and i got fascinated by this. Shayars would come and go but there will never be anyone like Sahir sahab. Sahir as his name suggests was truly a magician. I am really thankful to Rajesh Badal ji, Kewal Dheer sahab and Amar Verma sahab and all the seniors for their comments in this forum.

It was in the late 80s that my life went through hell personal, social, psychological and financial. It so happened that I was having lunch with my colleagues. One of my colleagues would not part with his food. I snatched from him and said "Jahan sach na chale wahan jhoot sahi, jahan huq na mile wahan loot sahi" To this my boss, asked me do you know who's couplet is it. I replied Sahir's. The boss then said, you pensively listen to his songs and realize the meanings. You will never feel u r alone, and his poetry will give you strength. What a genius Sahir was and the boss's advice. Believe me it had such a positive effect on my morale-- No words sir, no words

Sahir left an impact on my generation. Personally speaking, he inspired me to write. What a poet, what a human being. His style was direct and uncompromising. His life story can be turned into a movie. Great documentary Rajesh ji. Thank you Rajya Sabha TV.
