Hey that is a great idea! Although I don't cook that much I am always using books in my shop some of them don't stay open. I can use this in my shop and continue to microwave my chicken pot pies. thanks
Steve, I enjoy your videos and your down to earth attitude. I know the safety police sometimes come and tell you what you did ( that might be unsafe), so I thought I would beat them to it. When you cut down on the chop saw (the round part for a flat), because it is not seated against the fence (flat against the fence), it could grab, twist and pull your fingers in. When I need to cut something like this, I use a scrap of wood to hold the part down instead of my fingers. Blair
@thewooforfun Cooking has a lot in common with woodworking. They are both about ideas, inspiration, design, execution and presentation. You improve with experience and throw away a lot of disasters in the process.
I used my table saw. A simple jig that drives safety monitors crazy. Look for the technique in one of my first videos "Build a decorative pot holder with scrap wood".
If you're going to make another one, may I recommend taking a look at how collapsible music stands work? They have two swinging metal bars in the upper corners, that can be used either to widen the stand so you can fit more sheets of music notes on it, or they can be used to hold the paper in place. (Also, since they're made of metal, magnets are extremely useful for keeping everything exactly where you want it.)
Thanks Steve.... Started off making one for the bride but am on # 7 for daughters and grandaughters,,,Tweeked your design by just rounding over the "elevation" block and used 2 ea. 3/16ths 7 x 3's slabs rather than a whole sheet for the back.
You said a couple of projects ago (in the silverwear drawer organizer) that anything that's adjustable never gets adjusted and then here comes totally adjustable cookbook holder :)
@Buzzsawman It's funny, because after I made this I thought the same thing! Too many woodworking books include plans flop shut when you try to use them in the shop and need to keep referencing them.
thanks for this great Idea! I made 2, (in my own design, I just took your Idea of making a cookbook stand) not adjustable, but works great. One I gave to a friend, she said very happy thank you and uses it daily for everything, eccept cookbooks.... :-)
Any chance we could see Ryan Mackey's stand as well? I can't seem to find it online anywhere. This is an excellent stand by the way; love the way the form follows function, but it still comes out super stylish!
Hi Steve, I love this project, I would like to be able to adapt in some way to the upper cabinet so as not remove workspace in cubuerta, (some kitchens are very small) and I subscribed to your channel, I love.
Hey Steve, awesome project you have there! Just a question though: from my experience cooking can get a bit messy, so if the books are not your own, maybe some sort of covering would be beneficial? Anyways, I really love your videos!
That's great man. Now put it on a swing arm that holds the book at eye level so I don't' have to bend over to read it! One more trick to avoid getting new glasses. heh heh
Relooked at my comment...its 7" x 3" instead of feet !!! concerning the back slbs and am on number 20 for some charity auctions that I get involved in...
