Jenny is a very accomplished sewer and she really knows her machine and its capabilities. I am not sure this quilt sandwich thickness would stitch nicely on my machine without lowering the feed dogs and attaching my walking foot. I think I would use a special needle also for going through all these thicknesses. She doesn't make it clear whether or not she is using free motion quilting to finish the quilt with the quilt-as-you-go method. I also think I would use thread designed for free motion quilting andbegin quilting from the center of the piece and I would use spray on basting glue to hold my quilt sandwich together with the pins. I will try this without doing all of that but I don't think my old machine will stitch the thickness of a quilt with out breaking thread and needle. Good Luck this sure is a brillant way of making cathedral windows!!!!.

Cathedral Windows is how I started doing patchwork, when I was about 10, as it was the only block my Mum knew how to do! It took AGES! 35 years later, I've made several quilts & am a fabriholic... I love your tutorials & am now going to quilt my version of your Disappearing Hourglass, which was so quick that my poor husband is still in shock (when we first met, he had to make templates for me: triangles in slightly different sizes so that seams would fit etc !). Our daughter Isabel, 15, is on her second quilt; son Hugh, 7, has just made his first cushion cover. We have just got proper internet for the first time (rural Ireland) and I have discovered your excellent tutorials. As a result, when I'm not watching & learning, I'm making! Thank you so much!

The real beauty to this concept of doing cathedral windows is the ability to incorporate them into the design of a quilt without the whole quilt being cathedral windows. I am working on a table runner for Christmas with 6 cathedral windows down the center and its coming out beautifully. My first attempt at cathedral windows.

Jenny---Yay,yay,yay!!! I am so excited to see this tutorial. My husbands great aunt had a queen size cathedral that she did (totally by hand of course, she did all of them that way). She used 1 inch squares for the center of the blocks. It is one of the quilts that inspired me to want to quilt. One of the times that I was in the store, probably two years ago I asked one of the clerks if someone could show me how to do the cathedral window. You had the 2.5 inch one on the wall. I love it done in the fun pattern fabric. She took me and my friend back to where you were and you showed us how to do it. It was quick but you explained it so that I totally understood. I have messed with it some, but haven't made a whole quilt yet. It is one of my favorites and I am so very excited to see the tutorial. Thanks so much for taking time that day, I know that you were busy and thanks so much for doing the tutorial.

A little late in finding this tutorial as I made a large quilt using Christmas fabric, but another method of making the windows (called five minute block )which makes squares very similar. I made pillows as well. Now a friend wants a quilt in this pattern so I can try it your way Jenny! I’ve done the stitching using decorative stitches that are representative of the fabric, and would look very nice in the quilt as you go project. Thanks!

Now that I got back into sewing and want to make pretty things I can use instead of just piecing a for not ok I don't really care I will fix it later. After the first easy thing she taught me to make I made one for all 3 of my kids as a unique to their personality gift, now I am on youtube non stop watching your channel. Every time she tried to explain to me how to do it from watching you I would look at her like she was speaking greek she tells me "Go watch Jenny she will tell you how to even do the hard things easy. She was right. So now I am really lookig forward to making nice things for our house and this one I can't wait to try. :)

I love this cathedral window method! As soon as I watched the tutorial, I started assembling a wall-hanging using mini charms. It's looking great and the method is so easy to follow. Thanks, Jenny & MSQC!

Perfect timing. I knew there had to be a better way to do this. I have been experimenting with other options and you have shown the best way. Thanks!

I think I have found my new project. Thank you for you inspiration and charming nature. I might add my love of embroidery to the middle diamonds for a little personal touch. Now to apply for some annual leave from work to complete my project. Xxx from Australia.

Love it! Just made one little 2.5 inch block, went together so fast and easy! Yes! Am going to try a 10" block next, one with a busy print. Thanks, Missouri Star! I love the thickness, we've cold, cold winters so here all the layers are much appreciated....

I love how this cathedral window table topper looks so easy to put together! I have so many charm packs, mini charms and even fat quarters that I can cut up to use for this project. I can't wait to make this and put it on my kitchen table! Thanks, Jenny, for another great tutorial!!

Amazing! I love this in the linen solids. My grandmother had pillows like this; now I can recreate them even though she's not here to teach me.
