Thats what I did, and I love it. I just used a Specialized lock on grip that was taken off of my wifes mountain bike actually. It is grippy, stable, and looks nice. The Floaty back door works with it as well. It was a used grip, so the only real cost was the tri-pod mount from GoPro. Its my favorite mount, and I use it more than any of my other mounts.
i made this but i dipped it in plasti dip. i highly recommend doing it because it gives it texture, makes it grippy and make it waterproof so its not going to get waterlogged. it also looks pretty cool
thank you for the amazing idea! i used a pine dowl and stainless 1/4x20x3" bolt on mine. but my handle is also 1-1/4" and a little longer then yours (due to size of hands) i cant wait to test it out. my longer handle will be drilled out using a press because i suck at getting the hole straight and centered. :) either way man thanks!!!!
Use 3/4 PVC. Put an end cap on one side, cement. Drill the other cap slightly small... put a 1/4 20 by 1/2 inch long bolt in with a star washer. Apply silicone and let dry. Then glue that cap into place. About the same size, looks neater, and it floats.
Camera could be made steady here by inserting eye screw at bottom of handle and creating large loop with string. Placing feet on a string and stretching camera helps steady the camera.
SO MUCH DETAIL, Get a saw cut 6 to 8 inches off a broom handle screw your tripod mount to 6 to 8 inch bit, JOB DONE, Fuck me common sense springs to mind
from one Kyle to another.....subscribe! that really worked out well man check out my video and also linked to yours if anyone comes across it because you really made it easy. The only thing i added was a bit of extra apoxy and a bike grip. Nicely done
Dude, nice item, but what about a string to hold around your hand just in case you let go of the GoPro for some reason....So you got a 200 dollar camera in your hand and you put 2 dollar piece of stick on it ..put a GoPro sticker on it.....Done.
Haha, I know I pulled it out of my bag the other day and I had to do a double take. It is amazing what a good job GoPro has done making us see the older camera as outdated
This video is gay. Even back then you can just go buy one dirt cheap. Look at all those tools needed. Dont know how this guy has so many subs. He really is not good. Just plain jane. I guess if you just flood youtube w videos for years you get subs for sake.
You could have grinded the cut surface and the edges with sandpaper and coated the holder with lacquer or diluted epoxy so the wood would be water resistant. The original end of the bolt is always better than a cut thread. You could have cut the bolt head and stick the screw it into the handle with the original end out. No need of screwing, epoxy is strong enough to hold a long screw also in a wider hole. Also cheap but a nicer outcome.
