Nice info I am a beginner and I enjoy it. I want to some time in the future build a waste oil burner and a big furnace to put in larger huncks of aluminum like intakes heads and engines and melt it down without breaking stuff down and just pluck out the steel and have it come out a port into molds the remelt the ingots to remove the dross.

I've never seen a ceramic or clay crucible with lifting holes like that before, where did you find those?

I added those holes with a 1/2 drill bit, it drills like butter!

@@KBrown6700 How long have you been using crucibles like that? Do the holes have any effect on the long term structural integrity of the crucible?

@@85rocco at least 10 years and they have worked great. I drill the holes at least a 1” down from the top.
