you can exhaust yourself genuinely validating everyone and they just take it and run with it and feel superior because they think that you don't possess the quality that you are complimenting..so don't overdo it
I get a lot of verbal validation. I often forget to return it because words of affirmation isn't my love language. I don't value what they give and it doesn't occur to me to give it. Most people aren't evil. Just have different perspectives
Couldn't agree more. But I feel it also depends on the person you are dealing with. People with a lot of ego may start feeling superior as may feel you look up to them. But people who are humble will appreciate and gracefully accept it without it letting the compliment get into their head and may return the same as well.
My favorite validation is to be called sweet. I feel like my character and intentions are seen. Might also be a childhood trauma thing from being a black sheep. I feel secure around people who say this.
Don't regret being honest. In a world full of fakes that makes you valuable. I have had people give it to me straight and i swear that made them more charming to me.

IMO, I find people who don’t seek validation EXTREMELY attractive and people who seek it as weak. Confidence is silent. Obviously, I realize most people don’t think like me. Just saying…
I learnt this from my personal experience as well. I realised one thing that when we don't know ourselves well we tend to seek validation from others. But the day you know yourself, who you are and the more self aware you become about your strengths, weaknesses, and character the less you feel the need from others to validate you. And being an introvert I mostly keep to myself. No wonder I felt people around me wanted to know more and felt quite attracted.

I'm an American living in Europe and I know how you must have felt about being accent-bashed. Yes, it does cut to the core, because expressing yourself is the essence of your being. I appreciate people who say, "oh, cute American accent!" but it deeply hurts when I get made fun of for standing out as a foreigner. I now do some public speaking at events; those who love me encourage me. Those who are petty insult my accent. Yes, very true! Good that you mentioned that, Alex.

My own mother was making fun of my English accent when I was learning it… I moved to the US 7 years ago and even now at 41 I am still embarrassed when I speak English 😢
Don't own that embarrassment. No one is judging you more harshly than yourself. And if they are, it usually has more to do with their own imbalance and has little to do with you. Learning a different language takes a lot of work and practice. You should be proud of yourself for putting forth the effort.
I can listen to a foreigner speak english all day. They give the English language alil flavor!❤ I agree with Brandy. Learning a language is hard, and you should be extremely proud🫶🏾

Oh my gosh! That's so awful that that girl said that to you. I live in Italy and I'm learning Italian.... sometimes I get really nervous and my face goes soooooooo red...and sometimes I get back from a social situation feeling so defeated. 😢😢 And I love chatting...I'm so chatty, like chattering teeth on legs. I'm teaching English to Italians and I listen to them so attentively. I look them in the eyes and make them feel good. I don't Point out alllll their mistakes, I gage how they're feeling that day but I never but in and stop them mid Convo. My dad was from Iraq and his English was a little broken so I grew up appreciating how much of a struggle it is to communicate .

You could turn it around & ask them - do you think you gained weight? If yes, how do you feel about it? How do you think you come off? How would you like to be? It’s better for them to self reflect where they’re at and where they’d like to be than a false bandaid. Although sometimes that kindness can bring out the best in them. Ie you getting the compliment about your vibe & flourishing from it.
I have a gnarly speech impediment and always got made fun of when I was younger for it and made me always insecure but now that that I’m older I get men constantly becoming smitten because of the way I talk and say the way I talk is sexy and makes me unique and Intrigues them . Definitely makes me feel better then other compliments I get from men
