I love the look of this quilt. I’d try it out of scraps as a test for myself. Then after a bit of fun sewing and seeing how much I enjoy it. Then I’d try one of my beautiful jelly rolls. I like some tiny blocks. But looking at how many tiny 9-patches. I’ll try It of scraps first. Love all things Jenny! Happy sewing!
I LOVE THIS!!! I was shocked when you started showing the strips and how small they are. I will have to give this a try. Make sure that hubby is not around to ask a million questions while I am trying to work on this. He wonders in when I am sewing and he ask what are you doing!!! Retirement is great but with a couple of wrenches thrown in occasionally! A great quilt to take you mind off of what is going on in the world at this time. Thank you Jenny - you rock!!!!
This would be a great project for all those honey buns I’ve been collecting! They’re just so cute and irresistible! Actually, it started as an accident. I didn’t read the size of strips! I call it “a happy accident”. Now I’m hooked on them. Lol.
Thank you Jenny! Over the last 2 months you have taught me to quilt. I bought my first sewing machine at the end of January and have pieced 3 quilt tops. You are appreciated!
Jenny, it is midnight here in Idaho and this quilt got me so excited that I think I will order the fabric first thing in the morning. I love your Block magazine and pretty much all that you do at Missouri Star Quilt Company. I live your staff, your family and everything that you do. Your encouragement is contagious!!! Thanks so much for being your bubbly self during these difficult times. It is helping us all get through this time. God bless, and keep your lessons coming!
These block would be the perfect size for a quilt for a doll's bed. Just make the quilt with tiny blocks for the doll, then make a quilt out of regular sized blocks for the "Mommy" of that lucky doll. I think a little girl and her doll would love to have matching quilts for their beds!
I too love sewing for the dolly and grand daughter matching items, whether its clothes, blankets or quilts. Having a grand daughter catapulted me back into sewing!
This quilt is stunning. I love how the quilt got lighter on the outside and I Love the secondary pattern. Definitely a quilt I have added to my list to make !
Jenny and team this pattern is awesome! In November 2019 I purchased my first sewing machine from the elderly mom of a friend and started making quilt tops. I have never sewn before except middle School home-ec class. Your you tube videos have taught me how to quilt. I am so grateful!!! I am using the shirt fabric of my late husbands button down shirts. I am making a quilt for each of my children, each of their spouses and each of my seven grandchildren. I have six quilt tops done and two in progress. I think this one will be for one of my daughter in laws. It reminds me of the Irish Chain pattern. This daughter in law is Irish so this is perfect! I can't wait to see my fabric in another quilt!!! I have made Tiny Houses, Lemon Star, a version of the Elephant quilt, wonky stars and several with different block combinations. This is what keeps me busy now. I am working from home and when I finish work I start quilting. Thanks for all your team is doing!!!
That's a lot of quilt tops to make in just 6 months, Dawn! Glad we could be part of your creative journey into quilting and helping out with ideas and options for all those gifts you've been lovingly crafting.
MSQC Do you know HOW long I've tried to find a tutorial that Jenny's done that I don't like? Okay.....it's been since I "accidentally" found Missouri Star Quilt Company's website in 2011!!!! That's right.....2011!! I can honestly say I've seen a few of the quilt tutorials I would make in a different color etc...but I have as of yet to have found a tutorial that I DIDN'T like...HONEST!!! There's so much talent at MSQC it's absolutely amazing!!! Thanks so much for ALL you do MSQC.....and that means all of you! I've never called a business that makes me feel as though my questions are important, no matter what the questions are!!! It seems as though the people on the phone at MSQC have ALL the time in the world to answer my questions, even thought I know that's not true of course but it's great to be treated as a valued customer....it really is. In the 9 yrs I've been watching, buying and dreaming about MSQC's fabrics and other things, I've only called there 3-4 times, and just recently (last week) I called about the current BLOCK magazine....it seems as though it's taking it's "ol' sweet time getting through the mail....but of course we're dealing with a Pandemic, etc. so we have to be patient with the mail of course! This is something of course I'm going to try......God Bless everyone at MSQC......and God Bless all of you that have watched the video, read the comments or even commented. Let's continue to do our part during this Pandemic. I know it's been hard and even difficult for many of you during this time....and let's all hope that things will get better within time! (((((HUGS)))) to all!
Thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin! This is such a crazy time right now, we just have to help each other out as best we can, and that includes being patient with the guys and gals that are delivering the mail... and everyone else that's working to keep things moving. When you make this quilt, we'd love to see it, too!
Jenny, you hit this one out of the park! I just love it! I have wanted to make one with tiny blocks but hated the thought of messing with such tiny pieces. This is amazing! Love you and all you do to help us quilters get to where we want to go with our quilts. You are the best.
Jenny---- thanks, this is a nice way for me to use of many strips from previous projects and using your tip of keeping the lights to the outside gives me insight for the center of the quilt. You're an excellent coach. Thanks Very Much! Best Regards and Stay Safe.
I love the new camera angle that shows your stitching from the front of the machine. I think I see a new lens arrangement attached to the front of the machine. I hope you keep this after we are no longer "social distance-ing". It's really helpful.
This is definitely my favorite quilt you've designed this year. I love it when you come up with ideas using traditional blocks that can be made from pre-cuts. Keep them coming.
I just love the simplistic way you explained this tiny block pattern and fabric choice is just perfect for a sleepy day quilt to nap with. Blessings to you miss Jenny
I love 9 patches! And, a 9 patch in a 9 patch, oh my! Tiny does scare me a bit, but the way you put it together looks easy. I can’t wait to try it! Thanks, Jenny for another great tutorial, you never disappoint!
This is glorious! Great job Jenny and Aislyn! This is exactly my kind of quilt. For the most part, I can take or leave star patterns, but this gets me in the feels.
I love it!!! So pretty!! The nine patch is the first block my Granny taught me, so it's very close to my heart. This is just precious, my Granny would have loved it!!! Thank you!!!
Only using your method would I attempt this quilt Jenny. I was admiring the lighter areas of the quilt at the beginning of the video. If your granddaughter can put it together so nicely, she did an amazing job, we can too!
Thank you so much Jenny, I’m really really amazed at the quilt behind you.....it’s really really stunning and gorgeous. And those blocks you made in this video are terrific and so crisp. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Bless your heart Jenny! 🙏 Love all your quilting videos. How you manage such a small pattern and to quilt with all those close proximity seams is amazing. Thank you for all you do. ❤
Love this! It’s perfect for using scraps of jelly rolls or those pesky narrow leftovers from yardages! I can see this being one of those projects that you can just work on in between other projects and before you know it, there’s enough for a quilt!
Oh my goodness this is doable, you make things so easy for us Jenny, love, love, this. Mini is not my piece of cake either, I have accomplished one wall hanging, and won best of show at our little guild one year, it was our challenge quilt. This is too cute..Can't wait to do it in a red jelly roll...
I saw this quilt i the new block issue but was really struggling to understand the first couple of steps....watching the video has really helped and I think I will try this one. Thank you.
Oh how cute... Now that's given me an idea to make a little playmat for my new granddaughter who was born last week. Thank you, I love your tutorials they are brilliant. From Jane in Wales in the UK.
I am back and ready to make this darling quilt. My 3/4" hexi is about 60" round and I am taking a break while I design the ends to elongate it to twin quilt size. Or not. It looks pretty fancy draped over the back of my sofa.
Don't know about the "sparkle" at the edge, but I love the layout because it looks vintage and has that "well loved" appearance from a distance. Thank your for the inspiration.
Wow, what a challenge. I'm currently making your Irish Chain for my daughter. I think I will like to try this somewhere down the chain. And to let you know, I like your natural hair color. You look marvelous darling.
@@strawberryseed1886 my daughter's are adults but never showed an interest in sewing. Your mom must be proud of you, and very fortunate if she herself doesn't sew or no longer can.
I love this quilt and I love the fabric!! At Home by Bonnie and Camille this same fabric in red! This would make a beautiful Christmas quilt. Thank you for another great tutorial. xoxo
Another tip is make sure your ruler is not old- sometimes you get a cutting curve on old rulers and the cut will be off. I found out the hard way with a ruler I had for five years😕
Hi Jenny. Lovely quilt as always. I have to tell you how young and slim you are looking. I think this quilt is beautiful but I don't have the patients to work on this tiny size. My old fingers can't manage tiny little things. So I think I will try it but in 2 5" jelly roll. Stay safe everyone.
Unbelievable. I’m a newby quilter with years of home-dec sewing behind me. I’ve only made two quilts (in the last 4 1/2 months) and am thirsting for more. Why did I have to watch this tutorial...so beautiful but am I going to drive my self crazy...I’m dying to try it. I don’t care for navy though so will have to swap colors. Something to contemplate. Btw love Jenny’s approach and attitude similar to me--tend to be a zoomer on the machine from years of lots of yardage coming thru it. Thank you for the tutorial.
What a beautiful quilt! Holy Moley, those are tiny squares! You really need to be on your game for this quilt! But what a fun video - Jenny was so excited about these blocks, so now I have to give it a try. I have a lot of "orphan" jelly roll strips that I'm going to practice on first.
Such a lovely quilt. I enjoy making mini blocks. I usually sew first and then trim to size. It's wasteful but more accurate. I learned this in a Sally Collins class years ago. I'm so glad you mentioned to shorten your stitch length. I find the seams separate if I don't do that. Unlike you, I prefer to line up with the little seams on top, so I have a clear view of which way the seams are laying while I'm piecing. Thanks!
