This is terrific. I've thought about making a card with a piano keyboard on it for ages and just couldn't picture how. Thanks for the tips. I'll be making a lot of these for friends who are musicians.
It occurs to me that this design might also be achieved by using a scallop border punch. Once you punch out your border, you would simply cut the scallops apart, trim them to size and then glue them to your base. I suppose it would all depend upon how wide the scallops of your punch are. It might be worth a try :)
Thanks for posting this. I have been wanting to make one of these for a long time and now I have the incentive. I have the spellbinders card creator A2 curved matting basics sets A and B. There are small curved rectangle shapes that should also work for this. I think the 7/8 " by 2 1/8 " die from set B will work best. I'm calculating that I will need 7 of the white pieces which will be a little too wide and will need to be trimmed at the end. That should be enough for one set of 2 black keys and one set of 3 black keys which should still "read" as a piano. I also have a corner rounder and will wait for your next video before deciding which technique to use. I also had playback problems until 3:10 pm Wed. It's playing fine on my computer now but not on my iphone.
I am having trouble viewing it, too. I think it has something to do with the fact that Internet Explorer has been compromised. They advised to not use Adobe. Not sure what else can be done.
I did one for the general with a penguin on the piano keys holding a heart. Sentiment was, "you put a song in my heart". I did mine by cutting strips and then rounding the corners. Wish I had seen this video first, would have been a LOT easier!
Had a lot of trouble getting this to load and play, but it was worth the struggle. Question: I don't understand why your bow on the front will not come undone with only one knot. (I'm not a ribbon person...maybe this is obvious to those of you who use a lot of ribbon :-/
Since I can't get the link to work I went looking for a tutorial. This one uses the Top Note die from SU but you could easily change it up. www.sandystamper.com/2012/06/top-note-bigz-die-word-window-punch-grand-piano.html
