This dude is freaking great! He's the MacGyver of FX! I've seen videos of legit mask makers using crazy expensive foams to fill their masks and stressing out the entire time because the foam can collapse if the conditions aren't right, Allen runs to Walmart and grabs the Locktite gap foam and does a perfect job and fast! I'm certainly not hating on those other artists they are amazing and super generous with their time and knowledge. Allen just seems to know how to get shit done fast and still really good.
I just recently used that locktite foam for the first time, love it. You're right, it gets dense and is easier to work with, I was shocked. Great content as always sir.
I have some masks that i want to turn into the display foam filled head. I have seen you use both locktite spray foam as well as the home depot sika post fix. What is the better application for someone just starting out. I took some of my old masks and turned them into life sized props this year for Halloween. I just used the foam head. Unfortunately the head is small and does not fill in the mask properly. Then i came across your videos.
Would it be possible to use this foam head as a means to remake an old mold that is exhausted, by covering the foam filled mask with plaster? If so, would i need to spray pledge onto the latex mask before applying plaster, and how difficult would it be to remove during once the plaster has cured? As always, thanks for sharing.
Since this is different than great stuff, is there less chance of it buckling and distorting the mask inward like great stuff can sometimes do? (The main reason I refuse to use GS for foam filling anything)
I’m looking to make a sculpture using some sorta hard clay Making a rubber latex mold And filling it with foam and I wonder how smooth it would come out if it would get the detail
This may be a dumb question. But if you wanted to use a mask for a pneumatic prop would this system work if I had a metal square tube in the metal and monitored it?
Theoretically would it be possible , to fill a mask you didnt want with plaster or something similar making it solid and using it as a bust head for future Sculpting and molding ?
Seems it would work to build layered or heavily built up masks-like your scarecrow mask or maybe a zombie. Inserting a pole or PVC section would make it mountable. I think I just figured out how to do a bunch of heads on posts like in TWD finale from the Whisperers season.
I’m filling a mask here real quick for my haunt. Question: can I cut the foam out later? Will it leave residue on the latex? Cause any permanent changes? Thanks fir all the great content! 🙏
@@natij26 you want to remove the foam later right? If thats true then Id powder the inside before you foam it. I just wanted mine foam filled in the video so I did not use a release.
yes, but be careful- this is a rigid foam when fully cured. Just do one layer clinging to the mask- pull it from the mold at the 15 minute mark or sooner- its just as easy to do out of the mold really.
@@StiltbeastStudios thank you for ur Answer, I just finish right now to watch ur live . What time start ur live (it s the night in france😉 when u begin it?)
@@StiltbeastStudios thanks for responding. Yeah, I get what you were doing. It was just a question I had about making skulls and masks. I just wasn't very clear with .y question. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a response. So, thanks again.
I’ve been scouring the Internet for weeks now to find a severed head and this was close when you said you might sever it I have my fingers crossed, but I’ve searched watch all of your videos and can’t find any severed parts made from scratch😢
What I’m trying to do is make severed arms on a body! I’m gonna have a dummy hanging and was hoping to cut the sleeves off the arms and have the arms sticking out severed off around the elbow I tried the glue and paper towel method with Loctite, but wasn’t coming out where I was hoping lol
