What a great tutorial and an innovative modeling technique! Got to run to Home Depot NOW! This reminds me of a technique I used on a few masks I made in the mid 70's, only it was much more time intensive and not nearly as durable: I used cotton batting bandage material soaked in plain gelatin, refrigerated the mask for a couple days to let it "congeal" and dry out a bit and then air dry for several days more, then painted and glued fake fur with aliphatic resin (white glue.) I purchased the single original Werewolf mask kit as a mail order out of Texas, but started making my own mummy and Star Trek Salt Vampire on my own from the same techniques. Each used the cheap and plentiful plastic vampire fangs and bloodshot eyes from the 5 and dime or convenience store. Back then I thought I wanted to grow up be Jack Pierce or Dick Smith, lol.
That is one handsome wolf. it's so great that you get werewolf joy, I get that. The spray foam method is a bit of a revelation and I would never tire of watching because every move you make.. we learn something.
I am into model railroading, and this video just gave me an idea for the mountains I'm about to start on my layout. It's going to save me somuch time and effort using spray foam than plaster or hydrocal. Thanks 🤘 💀 🤘
Just found your channel and can I say OMG your work is amazingly cool! Also , the hair in the mask reminds me of my dog's hair whom happens to remind me of a gremlin lol. Which brings me to what I'd like to see you do next... I'm a big fan of gremlins and Gizmo is so cute. I am also a huge fan of Pinhead. Rock on from ATx 🤘
Love all your videos!!! Enjoy watching results from your camps as well. I use many of your techniques for our Halloween decorations and costumes, we deck out for Halloween and folks come from all around to see what we do each year-thanks to you we are getting better and better. We also married on Halloween so extra special fun for us 😊
Thank you for your kind words and for tuning in. I’m glad you enjoy the videos but more over, that you use the techniques for your own art- And happy early anniversary!
You my friend are the Da Vinci of spray foam. You inspire me an insane amount! My home haunt is going to be the best one yet this year thanks to your channel.
This is amazing, I always love the spray foam stuff! I bought a bunch of cans and still haven't had the time or space to make something myself. I'd love to see you do something like a deep sea monster with barnacles and scales, or maybe an insect of some kind? Something where your imagination can run wild.
always love how matter of fact you are when you’re talking to the camera. i can tell you’ve probably gotten lots of emails and comments with people making plaster of paris molds or painting latex with spray paint and wondering what went wrong haha. these videos are so clear and straight to the point and are perfect for both experienced makers and amateurs as well. gotta start experimenting with this brand of foam for sure !
My initial goal for this channel was to create a library of references so people would make their own art, props, masks and such on budget and fun- I want people to realize that they can do this! Enjoy the experimenting and Go Make Stuff!
Awesome as always Allen. I was going to say a foam Kappa mask could be cool. But now I'm thinking I'd really like to see you make a foam Krampus mask. I figured you'd make it look awesome.
Another fantastic and inspiring build. We recommend either Bigfoot or the Creature from the Black Lagoon as future spray foam mask builds! (Maybe even dabbling in making a moveable jaw? ;)) Excelsior!
I'm a woodturners, but Halloween is my favorite time of year. I just stumbled across this video and I got to tell you I may add something like this to my mix of videos or just for myself. This is awesome!!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing! I love these spray foam masks. I know you have done Krampus before, but I would love to see another one done with spray foam. I am in a Krampus group in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I have a wooden Krampus mask. It is very heavy and hard to see out of. So I'm thinking of making a whole new krampus head and fur suit. Love your work. You make everything look so easy.
I've been watching for awhile, just subscribed right now! I think you being in Texas helped 😂 us Texans need to stick together 😂😂😂 great werewolf mask btw!!! I Love werewolves!
Never ceases to amaze me. Havent tried loctite spray foam yet, but I t CLEARLY is a different bear than great stuff.... that stuff just pisses me off most times😅
Allen, you’re awesome! I’ve been watching your videos for years and I’m still amazed every time I see you make something new. I’m in awe of your creativity. ❤
I saw Howlin Wolf, but he wasnt singin' the blues!! That cat was the happiest dude on the planet!! Neato Frito Bandito, Mr H. Another sucessful canned critter gives you the creeps!! 😊😊
Would love to see you take a crack at a Fishman mask using spray foam. Also, I've found that sprayfoam masks are a great base to build toilet paper paper mache off of.
This is great. My Ghostbusters group has a lifesize Vigo painting for cons. I want to build the altar the Baby Oscar is put on. This may be the best, easiest way. Thanks.
WOW this was awsome !!!!! Like I said before, I didn't know that you could do "stuff" like this to make masks, pumpkins or whatever. I guess your imagination is your only limit. I don't know when I'll have time to try the foam but I have subscribed to keep me in the loop. ✌🏻❤️ 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@StiltbeastStudios I watched the baby yoda creation it was amazing. Have you ever experimented with using milk jugs and a modeling skull. You insert the skull in the milk jug and heat the plastic then press the pastic using a wet rag. The end result is a milk jug skull. You can make a bunch of skulls this way for cheap.
Spongebob said it best (in meme only), Let's get rid of Valentines Day and have SECOND HALLOWEEN! I Love this stuff. I'm a carver and dabbled in prosthesis then my daughter RAN with that, but I make realistic looking blood from gelatin, and fashion wounds from latex. Once again, the kid is much better than me since she ran with it. But I just wanted to say I love the spray foam idea. A friend of mine crafted an ENORMOUS ram's skull which was the logo for our radio station back in the day (now defunct after ten years of operation. RIP
You just got my sub/like - I never considered spray foam as such a versatile material but then, having the skills to work it, obviously, informs the decision making process. Making 'Prototype/Alex Mercer' virus arms for my sons cosplay - I went with EVA rods (home made from floor mats) and attacked them with a hot soldering iron. They looked amazing once the paint job was done. I was building piecemeal with hot glue and shaped lengths of rod but I can see now how this foam could have had its place (allowing for its rigidity) in the construction. Thanks for the eye opener. btw What makes the Locktite brand the 'goto' for this process? - ok I'm off to see your zombie mask, ooooh texture!
What do you mean werewolves are mythical creatures?! I would like to see maybe a Godzilla or lizard person spray foam.mask made. Thanks for the great videos!
I was already subbed to your channel Allen, but just for fun I un-subbed, then re-subbed, then un-subbed, then re-subbed, then un-subbed, then re-subbed etc., etc., etc. All in all, I did that a few hundred times (I stopped counting at 158), so I'm wondering if that has played havoc with your stats. Why? Because I'm an @rse, but I know you'll take it as a bit of childish fun. Anyway, that was superb - all of that from a can of foam is staggering, and very impressive. Overall, how long would you estimate that took you, from the first spray of foam, to you calling it done? Cheers.
I don’t truly expect to do anything like this, but in the first 90 seconds or so you shared knowledge I might benefit from in unrelated situations. That was to enlarge the foam head with a layer of foam to allow space to fit over an actual head. I sew, and when working with a garment I would automatically pad my body dress form to as close to my current size, but when working with harder materials I don’t have as good of lateral thinking, mostly because I have been working with soft goods 90% of my life. I guess foam lies somewhere in between. If a person was interested in getting into this as a sideline, maybe selling upscale Halloween costumes, and they are good with their hands, would a year of practice be a reasonable guess to become proficient enough to make decent masks? I’m asking because I think it is something my daughter could find enjoyable, and maybe make some $$.
@@StiltbeastStudios thank you for your quick answer! She is very creative and used to be really into cosplay. It seems every job she has comes with bosses who want her to give 120%, but they don’t appreciate her hard work. I know as a mother I am not totally objective, but she has an excellent work ethic. I would love for her to have a way to channel her creativity, make extra money and have less reliance on “the man”, lol. Ima share your channel w her. I am not creative in the way of coming up with things, more in being able to follow an idea. Anyway, thanks!
Fantastic Video!! I've made many different masks and used various spray foams in home repairs, but never imagined marrying the two. Your patient and enthusiastic step-by-step is amazing. I'm so glad I just discovered this channel.
There are two kinds of people in the world: those who have seen Killer Klowns From Outer Space and those who haven't. This is an opportunity, and I think a Killer Klown mask would be similar technique to this werewolf.
Didn't see this question asked: how warm do these get while wearing them since they're meant to be insulation material? I'm inspired to make a mask of my own for Halloween, but a little concerned how well it would breathe. I'd be sculpting a base mask, then adding burlap over the entire surface down to the shoulders almost like a jester's neck ruffle.
this is how I make my burlap masks, I hope this helps ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NasR2Sltqls.html the foam masks do get warm so add a lot of venting so you have good airflow.
Yes I would love to see you do a demon like scarecrow. With sharp teeth. Even at some point building a easy simple stick like scary tall , long arm body!!
Man I gotta get me some of that spray foam. All I got here is great stuff, and it makes great spiders but doesn't do that to make mask. That is a fantastic wolf. Love the ears!
Thank you so much! My favorite werewolves are the ones in “The Howling” so his is why he gets big ears. Definitely get you some Loctite, it is worth playing with.
OMG. I just can not get enough of your video tutorials! Everything you make is so cool. And you keep it real. You make things with items that anyone can get their hands on, and you explain it so completely that it's almost impossible to not be able to duplicate it. I would love to have your talent and resources. Could there possibly be anything better in life than to make cool shit and get paid to do it. Thank you for sharing!!
I have not been able to find any tutorials on how to make a Headless Horseman with horse except for silhouettes. If you have an idea how this could be made, I would love to see a video on it! ❤
this is not my first one, its my first werewolf in foam - but im applying lessons I learned in clay and other foam projects- Ive made like 20 foam masks and thousands of clay masks. dont beat yourself up if it takes you a few tries. go make stuff!
I had no idea. This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! I can't wait to show my daughter (she loves Halloween and sculpting). Thank you for showing us😊
Thanks-this was exactly what I needed to give me some direction on a project I am working on. A casting project not a mask project. One of the questions I have has to do with using a release agent instead of plastic film. Normally I use something like a canola oil cooking spray. Do you think that would work as a release from a plaster form? Thanks again.
A good point. I'll wipe this mold down with a good degreaser and then try painting it. If you would like I would be happy to update you on how this goes. Thanks for your initial guidance with the warewolf mask spray foam technique.@@StiltbeastStudios
God you really don’t need any more comments but I can’t help it! It’s so rare to come across videos that are this much fun and on top of that, so full of information, so well explained and demonstrated. Bravo! (Please do be careful wandering around in your studio…scary !)
I love the spray foam mask sculpting and everything you all are doing. Thanks for the education. I can't wait to get out there for Monster Class. It's on my Christmas list: )
