Really enjoy learning, watching and making your quilts. I am a lone sewer at home, so i find your tutorials a great learning tool and great to follow. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making my day on many occasion’s. Regards Trish from Aust.
Glad I found your video! Thank you for sharing your expertise! Will definitely try this quilt! I am new to quilting and you inspired me with your video!
This shows that you don't need a complicated pattern to make a beautiful quilt, you just need to choose the right fabric. And this is what you've done here. This fabric is lovely. Thanks for sharing the quilt and the runner. Both are stunning. ❤👍from Somerset UK
I'm pretty new at this - but you made it look easy. I actually have 2 different layer cakes (I love to purchase fabric more than I like to sew) and this video really inspires me to make this quilt using them. Thank you, Thank you!
Yay! You are so welcome! I love that. you are going to make this! Please let me know if you have any problems once you get started. Happy to help! Happy stitching! ❤️
Hi Kris! Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! No power in my neighborhood for 36 hours, so now I need to catch up with my favorite quilt channels. It was so cold.
Yay! So glad you like this one and could catch up! Thank you for your kind words. Glad you have power now and are nice and warm. This weather has been crazy!
I just found you yesterday and hit SUBSCRIBE immediately. I have been quilting for about fifty years and restoring or repurposing vintage and antique quilts and quilt tops as well as making and designing my own quilts. I really appreciate your techniques being so exacting and love your excitement and energy! It’s also fun learning about precuts and the patterns available using them. I will continue watching you on RU-vid and hitting the like button each and every time. Cheers! ❤
I just received some layer cakes in the mail. Was planning on making your other layer cake pattern, but I like this one also and I have multiple cakes to choose from, thank you. I did cringe every time your hand moved until you closed your cutter. I have just recovered from a cut where my blade jumped my ruler.😊
When I was editing the video and saw the blade, I cringed, too. That is so unlike me! I cut myself years ago and know better. I hope your recovery went well. I love that you are going to make this one! So much fun! Thank you for watching and sharing. ❤️
Hello there…new sub here. I have recently gotten back into sewing and purchased a jelly roll and a layer cake. I had no clue as to what I would make from it, so I went onto RU-vid, hoping to find a gentle soul and a good teacher for this beginner. Lol. I like what you did here and I think I’m going to give it a go…I know I’ll be referring to your video a couple times for reference, but that’s how I’m going to learn. Thank you for sharing this video! Cheers 😊
Yay! Thank you for subbing and watching. I have many videos that will help you, and this is a great choice, too! Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help! Glad you have picked up sewing again! ❤️
I love layer cakes (OK - I love precuts😄) and I really, like this particular layer cake! Not anywhere near my usual color box - which is a good thing as I’m trying to climb out of my usual colors!!! And this size is perfect for the ones my guild makes and donates to a children’s crisis center (kids and Moms - kids all the way up to teenagers!). And also, would be easy to size down! I’m fairly new to your channel so working my way through many of your videos! Ans honestly, I never even thought about pressing the diagonally sewn seams before cutting - works for me!! Thanks👍👍
You are so welcome! So glad you like my videos! 🥰 Wow, what a wonderful cause to make quilts for. Quilts are magical. I am sure your quilts have helped many. Thank you so much for watching my videos and sharing. ❤️
This is such a cute little quilt! It would be fun to make it scrappier by combining two different HSTs for each hourglass block, ending up with 4 different fabrics.
I just found this video a few days ago and it's perfect for a layer cake I picked up on a recent shop hop! I'm halfway through the blocks and I love this technique! I also love that there is enough 'wiggle room' between the 10" precut and the finished block size So many patterns I've tried cut it too close for me (pun intended).
Loved making your previous Just One Layer Cake quilt and am looking forward to making this one too!. That fabric is so lovely! Definitely got some Sew the Distance Bingo squares in this one-- "Set your seams." "I love, love, love it." "It's so pretty!"
😂😂😂 I love this! I should make up a downloadable PDF for viewers! I tend to say the same things, don’t I? I love, love, love that you are going to make this quilt! It really is so pretty! 🤩
Thank you so much! I sat with my precuts in the land of indecision and you have helped so much!! I’ve done the charm pack one, the other layer cake you showed, and plan on doing this as well. I like the way you demonstrate the techniques. Keep up the good work!!❤
Thank you so much! That's the best compliment! I always want to make sure people watching my tutorials can actually make the project. I am always thrilled when I hear this. Thank you! You made my day. 🥰
What an excellent project! Thank you for showing us and I will definitely sign up for your newsletter. You’re so much fun to listen to and you give us such good ideas.
You are so welcome! I love that you love this one! It's a fun one to make. Let me know if you have any questions once you start making it. Happy to help!

Love, love the hourglass top! Another project I need to do. Going on a mini retreat end of February, this is what I will bring! Thank you once again Kris
How serendipitous! I just took a break, watched your new video (!!), and now I'm going back upstairs to continue pressing and trimming my layer cake pinwheel blocks! Thanks for the glee, lol! Abigail in beautiful New Hampshire
Woooohooo! I love when that happens! Thanks for sharing, Abigail! Love New Hampshire! We lived in Massachusetts for 27 years and my youngest son lives in Vermont. Such a beautiful area!
