When you are placing the stitching holes through the ‘thick’ end of the handle (side with clip on it), how do you manage to keep your stitch lines so straight. My past experience of this was for the stitch line to veer off due to the thickness of leather. Any suggestions to improve this technique would be much appreciated?
I am not punching them all the way through and use an awl to do that part. There is a lot of practice needed to get used to using an awl and getting straight stitches but one that is sharp helps so much.
