Blade guards cause as many problems as they solve, but the riving knife is a huge safety feature that does not affect functionality of jigs/push sticks/sight lines and there’s no excuse for not using one. You cut all the recesses in the bottom of the table saw insert for mechanical clearance so the final step to complete the insert is easy. Use a jigsaw and extend the blade slot far enough back that the riving knife has clearance. I highly recommend making a dedicated insert for 45 degree angle cuts too.
@@SaltCityWorkshop you are welcome, I replaced the stock insert on my saw and this is how I solved the riving knife issue, I will not make a through cut without the riving knife in place, it is just not worth the risk. Feel free to use this idea in a video and I do not need any credits.
Great video and great help for making the table saw throat plate. I have to admit I'm not that good at making throat plates but this video is a BIG help, it also helps that I have the same Laguna table saw :)
