I had to make an impromptu cake topper but don't have an acrylic sheet with me. So I put together 2pcs of laminating sheets, laminated them and followed the same process you did. It turned out beautifully. Thank you
Is it a directive of Cricut the company to intentionally conflate acrylic with PET plastic? These 2 materials are vastly different in physical properties and are not interchangeable is most technical applications. Acrylic is very hard and useful in making dies. PET is not.
I'm late to the show. You actually don't need a stencil font for YAY. You created a new hole at the bottom of A by adding base and it worked fine. It would be the same with the "eye" in A. Otherwise, interesting and informative project. I make a lot of non-transparent cake toppers using 2 mm PVC foam board as the base, which is very stable. Then I apply glitter or mirror cardstock on top and possibly other materials. Adhesive vinyl can be applied before cutting. I as well used heavy chipboard setting in the beginning but later realized that 1.5 mm chipoard with 12 passes was just enogh.
Hi. How do I get the vinyl to line up with the word celebrate pls? I made one tonight with a different word and couldnt get it to line up! Is it the font type i might be using? Can I paint the acrylic instead? Thank you!
@@AngieHolden I tried painting with acrylic paint but didnt work. I printed out the word in the 0.020 plastic and then in vinyl but was hard to match up. Will try again with an offset. Thank you
This is awesome, thank you so much. I know you say to watch carefully when cutting…but what happens if you go too many passes? Or how do you know if it’s too many? I’m making a fairly small project so I can’t really “see” anything. Brilliant tutorial thank you.

the "celebrate"...I didnt see you make they vinly and put the vinyl on that. I was hoping to see the entire process. I am a new cricut owner and everything is confusing to me. I am trying to stick with one or two youtubers. Thanks for the wonderful helpful tips
@@AngieHolden what is it though? I didnt see it. It was just presented in the video with the vinyl on it already. I mean like how did you get the vinyl the same size as the word celebrate? Did you cut the vinyl and the plexiglass at the same time on the cricut? It is easy for those who have done it
I'm new to Cricut and when I tried this project where the topper needed multiple passes, it looks like the blade shifted 1/4" every time it passed through so it's a mess. I've tried calibrating and it's not helping. Does anyone have suggestions for how to fix this? This is only the 3rd time I've used my machine.
I don’t have a maker but gives me an idea that if I had some acrylic I could cut out with scissors and add Cricut design. Thanks. You are such a good teacher.
Great ideas and simple to do! Thank you for sharing this project step by step. Are there acrylic sheets a little thicker that could be used for mor stability?
Place a popsicle stick behind the stem of the acrylic. You won't need to glue it, of course you wouldn't. Try some icing as glue. The acrylic stem now has support.
Angie, when you say click on button below For a list of items needed for this project, The first button my Mac shows public comments. Where else can I look.
It would invalidate the warranty if used as it also been stated the explorer has been known to engrave also but again would make warranty not valid if and breakdowns
Not sure? I have used this a BUNCH with no issues. I sometimes have to do more passes at the end. I think humidity effects it as sometimes I need more and other times it is done way before the last pass.

I think I responded to your email but for anyone else. Be sure to keep your design simple without any small pieces. Also you want to make sure you let the machine cut all the way through as if there is even the smallest bit that isn't cut, the piece will break in that area.
I cant get the knife blade to work in my Cricut Cut Smart 2....can you think of any reason why...It wont even register as an option and wont touch the acrylic
Thanks for your tutorial. Did I have to set the circuit machine to a particular point before started cutting. E.g paper, vinyl, iron-on, light cardstock, cardstock,, bonded fabric, poster boards, or custom
Yes, about the transfer tape... I would imagine that they are not all the same.. so I'm assuming then, that of what you've tried that they all do the job for the most part but if you want to deal with something where details matter than go with the brand name? To which i would also assume that aside from leaving behind less residue on the clear parts it would probably also handle finer details the best as well? On any materials? I'm going to pour thru your videos looking for looking for answers as they seem to be the most complete. As well as what i pick up in the comment section! Just time consuming.. but I have yet to find a quick guide to this machine.
Hi Angie! I’m following your directions from the video. I have the maker and using design space on a Mac Book Pro but I am not seeing the offset button/option to make the back of the cake topper. Does it only work for text? I have an image and text in my cake topper.
Hi, I have a design, and I have tried to cut several times, but in every once there are two problems show with me: 1- first one: during cutting, there is a cutting mistake shows in some part of design, that is happening when the blade stops in some place and it hangs machine from continuing. 2- Second one: after cutting, there are some parts of design not cutted very well although, I have tried to solve problem in several ways: 1- I putted tape on parts self, not only on edges of design( I used several types of tapes: blue, masking paper, ...itc). 2- I update blade setting to make more no of processes ( I increased until 4x), also I select 'more' option for pressure at cutting process 3- I experimented to make big & small sizes of design 4- I cleaned my mat to be free of all debris of waste materials. but no any of that solve the problem?!! Note: I'm using Green (standard one) mat, is it Ok, or should I use strong grip mat? and material is Acetate.
Correct but that setting is for a very thin acetate sheet. If you are using something thick, that setting and blade will not work. If it is really thick, the Cricut will not cut it at all.

Angie, I see the thin plastic comes in 25 count packs only. Could you point me in the direction of other uses for this product? Don't want to have this product sitting around! Love the cake toppers! Will be making some smaller versions for cupcakes!
Love this! I bought all the suggested tools needed but ran into a problem when i got to cutting the acrylic. What material did you set in the Cricut design space app? I’m not seeing an acrylic sheets option or any similar option where the parameters of the cut are set to 16x pass or set to a knife blade. Please help. Your assistance is greatly needed!
The acrylic sheets that I used are linked in the description below the video. On computer, click show more. On mobile, click the arrow to expand the description or swipe up on the video.
This confuses me a bit. So you manually fed the mat in 16 times, or the Cricut kept cutting for 16 rounds? Also wondering if cutting two matching acrylics together would make it sturdier. Would need a clear glue…🤔
@@annaphelps7775heavy chipboard is 24 passes by default without unloading the mat. She just stopped cutting at 16 passes. But you probably know by now.
The clear is acrylic. All products used are linked in the description below the video. On computer, click show more. On mobile, click the arrow to expand the description or swipe up on the video.
Really looking at getting into making these myself, I don't own a cricut just yet but just stumbled on your channel and it's brilliant. Is there a way to make them more 3d like? I've seen some pictures where they look proper 3d. Is there a way to contact you to explain more? Thanks for the videos anyway, persuaded me to get one 😀
I don't know why but mine can't cut this and use the same grafix plastic 020 just work for me the first time and I was excited!😢 now I'm frustrated to see how others can do it and I can't!🤷🏻♀️ even with the heavy chipboard setting!
Dear Angie thanks for sharing the Acyleric cake toppers Can we cut acyleric on Cricut explore air 2 with deep cut blade and chipboard settings Please whenever you share tell us how to do it on explore air 2 also Thanks Basharat
