There are lots of great cursed items in D&D, but using these tips, you can make them more fun! By looking at the Helm of Ultrus from Not Another D&D Podcast (NADDPOD), we can apply Murph's implementation to other magic items. Giving a DnD 5e (or any TTRPG) cursed item charges, getting everyone involved, and making use of saving throws can make them more fun for everyone at the table. Cursed items in Dungeons and Dragons are also great story items, and provide lots of flexibility for sharing story information. Let me know how you use cursed items to tell your stories!

I am so glad you're being picked up by the algorithm. I love your calm and collected vibe and the non-clickbaity titles. However, I personally would prefer background music that isn't as upbeat - but maybe that's just me. All the best for your future videos! And hey - I really appreciate you and your content.

I think my favorite cursed item I ever had in my game was the crown of the rat king, gave the used control over rats, limited speak with animals, and the ability to summon a few swarms during combat, the down was they after a few weeks of use the uses became a large rat. The Tabxi player got a hold of it and hijinks ensued

I very rarely interact/subscribe with youtube content that I consume, but I definitely do it for smaller creators who deserve an engagement boost. Your channel has very good vibes, I hope that you keep making content and that the views start rolling in. As an editor, I absolutely appreciate the effort you put into your videos, They're all extremely well-made and I have no idea how your audio sounds so good without a visible lav? Are you doing any post-processing on it or are you just insane at getting clean audio?

Thank you so much! It's a shotgun mic just out of frame, then I run it through Adobe's ai voice enhancer, mix it back with the original, then run it through a chain in fairlight with eq compression etc

@@powerwordspill that makes sense, I think people really underestimate the work it takes for good audio, and this sounds better than like 99% of RU-vid videos, especially with just a shotgun. Your really hard work has not gone unnoticed! I would be absolutely shocked if you don't have a production background

Hey, usually love your videos. This one feels a bit more high paced, louder background music and the extra scenes I found the audio not clear to follow (for the shadow character). None of the previous stuff is necessarily bad, but I didn't quite get a clear picture of cursed items.

For me as the DM, the more powerful the magic item the more likely it is to have drawbacks. "Phenomenal cosmic power!! ...itty bitty living space."

Did I somehow miss the description of what the helm actually does?
@powerwordspill
@powerwordspill 11 месяцев назад
You didn't miss it! I just wanted to talk about how to apply the general ideas of it to other items, but here's the link to the wiki with the details: notanotherdndpodcast.fandom.com/wiki/The_Helm_of_Ultrus

@@powerwordspill Thanks for the link. I generally think that an explicit example usually helps to drive a concept home. And spelling out why it's a good example is just good practice, since there is no reliable commonly known canon to draw from anymore. The helm itself reminds me a bit of Elric of Melnibonés sword Stormbringer - which erh.. Spoilers for a 50 year old fantasy book, but I guess thats my point above - nourishes his life and gives him power, but has a nasty habit of making him kill his friends and allies in turn. Sounds like a wonderfully troublesome item and just too good to skip on in a hazard. With the definition of hazard naturally dropping fast.
