Thanks for this video. Couldnt find many other instructions on the hub and bot pairing with Alexa that menioned enabling cloud service! I included the actual switchbot instructions in that too.
Of course! I love to see new inventions and technology and you’re very thorough in your videos 🙂 Helps with making any decision on to pass something up or to purchase the item.
Craig. I just got the contact sensor and was surprised to see that it also contains a motion sensor! They say it's behind the button and it really works, as I'm using it in automation to trigger a switchbot bot. I believe their reason for doing this is that they can tell when you open the door when leaving versus open the door when arriving. I still haven't figured out how to use the button
Very cool. I did miss that tidbit. It is a cool feature to get a motion sensor too. I have been enjoying the contact sensors for my studio closet lighting. My Wyze one got flaky and would fall offline.
@@CraigsTechTalk With a recent update to the min hub firmware and contact sensor firmware, I'm not able to trigger Alexa Routine. However, there is no motion trigger for Alexa (yet)
Craig could you give me an update after owning your SwitchBot Curtain for a year? I'm really interested in this plus Mini Hub & Solar Panel. I have a single lightweight curtain and only need it to open/close halfway via Alexa and will want to setup a schedule too. Have read so many complaints though on Amazon like the following (1) Motor too weak (2) Calibration won't stick gets out of sync have to redo once a month (3) Smart integration isn't great even with hub (4) Disconnects have to go up and reset the device so it can connect to my phone/hub/remote again (5) Automation seems to forget what it's supposed to do (6) Motor stopped working after a month (7) After months it won't charge (8) if you try to manually open the curtain it messes up the calibration (9) Loud which I know is subjective. Have you had any of the issues I've described so I can make an informed buying decision? Thanks!
i saw the solution to my problem, being a tenant i can't just change the light switches to smart ones now that switchbot bot will be handy..i am curious about the humidifier though does it have ambient light of some sort? i know it can be an oil diffuser too i would be great to set it up on a bedside table with a light strong enough to see the kids and dim enough for it not to be disturbing. great content Craig.
I have a question: if I want a Switchbot motion sensor ( when it detects motion) to control a Switchbot bot do I also need a Switchbot hub or can the two communicate directly?
Thank you so much for all the explanations, they are really excellent and you are fascinating in your explanations. I have a question about the HUB that controls SwitchBot Do I have to have a HUB in each room or one that sits in the living room and control every SwitchBot I have in several rooms?
Hi Craig’s , I am new in the smart home world . I have some hue lights and echo 4 (with zigbee). Can I use switch bot sensors to control the hue lights ? Lloooove your channel
Can you set a distance on the motion sensor? For example, I don’t want a shelf light to turn on when I enter the room but I do want it to turn on when I’m about to take something off the shelf. Max distance VS. 1-2 feet.
I have 4 Bots, 2 temp / humidity displays and the Humidifier. Oh, and 2 Hub Minis. They really are handy. (I haven’t needed the humidifier, yet, this winter.)
Just to confirm.. the sensors can trigger routines with google? I didn't think google had the functionality to trigger routines from 3rd party equipment. (Time of day, sunrise, and voice command I think are the only google routine triggers)... I definitely want to be wrong here. Thanks for enlightening me
I have a question for you. Currently I use the Harmony hub integrated with my Alexa that will allow me to turn on/off my TV, PlayStation four, fire TV cube, and Apple TV. Recently the harmony hub is not working. Do you have any suggestions of a hub that will allow me to integrate with Alexa and do the same control functionality.
Craig, good info. Would like to see the whole product line. We need sensor options like this so we don't have to interact any more than necessary with Miss dumber by the day! Still waiting for the whole house tour.
I’d like to try one of these on one of my garage door buttons but it sounds like I would need a hub, too? I do have a Wyze sensor on my ‘main’ garage door that tells me when the door it open or closed. (Routine) “The South Garage Door Is Open. . .” Updated 1/18/22 - The Bots work great for the garage door openers! (I did add a Hub Mini to the garage.)
Thank you for the nice comments on my production and thumbnails. I rarely do sponsored videos. But when I do, I try to show viewers products I think could add value. Then I showcase the companies product. 95%+ of my videos do not have sponsors. Check them out before you walk away thinking I make ads on this channel. Thanks for watching.
Can someone please help me out! Just bought a SwitchBot Hub and Bot and created a Siri Shortcut but for whatever reason my HomePod Mini is not reacting to it. When I use Siri on my phone it is working but not with the HomePod. What's the problem? (Got my Homepod Language in German)
A murder mystery how did the gun fire there was no one around but it did fire and someone got killed wonder how they did it? Cop asking questions: we got a tip! We need to talk to someone named Alexa
I hope they come out with a device that will toggle light switches. SwitchMate has one, but it is a piece of junk. It does now work with Alexa, as they claim, and google home is quirky.
Another option that may not cheap but is cool. Philips has a thing that goes over toggle switches that keeps power on for smart bulbs but gives you control still.
@@CraigsTechTalk Thanks, I use then in my bathroom. I have three light fixtures in the kitchen and one entry light that can't be replaced with smart bulbs. Renting, so wired switch replaced would not be allowed. I thought SwitchMate power plug and switches would be my savior, but no.
I use the curtain rod bots with Alexa; you should be able to use the commands "open" and "close" without using the word mode... that's strange. The clips do a good job of keeping the pleats. Its just a hassle getting them to be hidden. If you're looking for them you can see them, but once installed you won't notice.
You can get them to use Open Cutains and close curtains. Make an Alexa routine and you can set it to any phrase you want. Then either add switchbot curtain as a device or use an Alexa custom command And just like that you can make them easier to say
