Make Bath Bombs Like LUSH! Ingredients & Reactions Explained! Learn the secret to making creative bath bombs just like LUSH!!! Lush uses 2 different recipes for most of their bombs; a slow foaming recipe for the exterior & a vigorous recipe for the interior. Ingredients & reactions are explained in order to achieve specific results/reactions! Each ingredient in this tutorial yields a completely different reaction in water! Last tutorial I mainly tested wet ingredients, but, I test dry ingredients in this one. I made a double batch of this BATH BOMB RECIPE: 1 C baking soda (246 grams/about 8 ¾ ounces), 1/2 C citric acid (106 grams/about 3 ¾ ounces), 1/4 C corn starch (31 grams/about 1 1/8 ounces), + 2 tsp. fragrance oil (8 grams) & 1 tsp. polysorbate 80 (4 grams). FOR EACH BOMB: I measured 3 oz. of [prepared] mix & added ½ tsp. of color powder & the specific ingredient being tested [each ingredient is named in tutorial]. All bombs are mixed with (above mentioned "bath bomb") recipe, except the “nothing” bomb. This bomb has 3 oz. of dry mix, + 2 ml. fragrance oil & 1 ml. witch hazel (instead of polysorbate 80). NOTE: The more of 1 ingredient that you use may enhance the specific reaction that you're going for, but it may also accidentally stunt the bomb all together, making it a “dud”. Which does nothing except SLOWLY foam for a long time; there's no fizz, bubbles, fluffy foam, or fun. If you want to learn how to make awesome bath bombs watch (this video), but also watch these videos: • EVERYTHING You Need to... • Make Bath Bombs like L... LOADS of helpful information in all 3 of these videos!!! You're on your way to making the best bath bombs ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually did it! I did lots of other experiments, but I cut out the ones that were basically the same. G gum & SLSA is basically the same as SLSA (1/2 tsp.), maybe a bit bubblier (like a smidge).

I watched this video and the first part , But I was a little confused as to what ingredients can be used for the interior and exterior of the bath bomb . I liked the look of the guar gum and Knox gelatin but was confused if it went in the interior or exterior of the bath bomb if that makes sense. Thanks a bunch .
@CreativeBathLab
@CreativeBathLab 2 года назад
U can use any ingredient for inside or outside it just depends on what you want. these videos are simply to demonstrate which ingredients cause which reactions. but I suggest any ingredient that makes a slow foamy or lathery reaction should go on the outside any ingredient that’s very vigorous bubbly and fizzy should go on the inside, but again this is up to you

Thank you so much for uploading these! I wouldn't have thought to try gelatin powder or the gums. Do they leave a film or solid bits? And would you need to multiply the measurements by how much is in each batch? Also, are these tested by themselves or with the base batch that has poly 80? Thank you!
@CreativeBathLab
@CreativeBathLab 2 года назад
Great questions - The batch that I made them from did contain a bit of poly (recipe in description). Sodium alginate/x gum/guar gum left a bit of jelly foam. But all the jelly foam dissolves eventually. The meringue did have some little bits of color that was left.... But, I'm not sure if that was from the color itself though.
@minervamaximilian1923
@minervamaximilian1923 2 года назад
@@CreativeBathLab Is it safe to say that the gelatin didn't add much fizz, foam, or jelly, then, if there was already poly 80 in the batch? It's so easy to find locally that I want gelatin to be an awesome one. 😂 Thanks again for making this video--these are SOOO helpful
@marilynmaldonado8683
@marilynmaldonado8683 2 года назад
@@minervamaximilian1923 absolutely not! The guar gum, and Knox gelatin helped give the poly a boost. Safe to say that without the gum, or gelatin, the poly would be useful at its normal capacity. Which isn't bad but also not the best.

@@shauneriver3973 I would measure the weight of the base mix first. In the video she may add 1 tsp of something to a 3 oz bomb. So if your whole batch of dry mix weighed 30oz ... then you would just 30 teaspoons ( but work out the equivalent in oz). you just need to work it out. How much are you using of each "testing" ingredient? How do you keep the rest of the recipe the same if the testing ingredient is a liquid vs a dry ingredient? Wouldn't you need to add more or less of your other liquids? I'm currently doing this same i ingredient testing for myself and I'm confused. Lol

When a recipe says add 2% fragrance oil, what does that mean. Is that 2% of the whole mixture including any liquid please

Can you tell me if you did this in a suburban setting or city because the different watergrids in different cities can have very different effects on how the water reacts to the ingredients? Also, wanted to note that allowing SLS, SLSA into the water grid is bad idea health-wise, feel free to message me directly if you agree.
