So how much money did you make?? This was a great narration of your trip, but would've liked to have heard more about what sells well, what didn't, and ultimately how much do you typically make so a beginner contemplating this life can decide whether it's for them. I did appreciate the behind the scenes view though! 😊

When we did craft shows years ago we would always greet people when they came in the booth and told them to ask if they had any questions. This let them know we had seen them (and weren’t ignoring them) but there wasn’t any pressure. If they hung around a while we would approach them and talk to them about the item they were looking at. I HATE high pressure sales.

Wonderful display. I love your handmade racks. Would you ever consider building/ painting one to look like a door? I think that would really pop and make people think, “ Oh! I have a front door. I need one of those.” 😊

The main thing we learned with being vendors is if the area isn't accessible by wheel chairs and strollers, money was lost. We lost a good amount the first year from having a big rug that made it hard for wheel chairs, strollers, even just people with walkers or canes to move around. Once we went to just 2 door mats, we had better luck

The '"These are handmade" is excellent advice! I immediately thought that it would be great to make a layered sign that states just that. In a different format so it stands out from the rest. That way even those you don't personally speak or are just passing by would see it. I'm going to employ that in the future for my markets.

I love how you mentioned that you set your cash out area over to the side so there was no pressure or even eye contact. I have stopped shopping craft shows all together because I can't stand the high pressure. It's like walking into a car lot hoping that the salesman doesn't jump us before we get to look.

Really people selling crafts know why they are there. I have never been attacked by an over zealous craft salesperson. I've had plenty of folks excited about their work or quite frankly, bored. They're just people and I have often taken the discussion from complimenting to taking a few minutes to discuss the interest/inspiration and saying to have a great day. I wouldn't cheat yourself out of the experience over most likely a self-inflicted sort of compassion that we just have for others

We greet everyone and tell them about our product, if they feel uncomfortable we tell them they don't have to buy, let's just have fun and we put our product on them and play makeup and soon they are reaching for their wallet, pocketbook. People have all they need but they are there for the experience and fun, when we give that to them, they buy.

Do yourself a favor and make a banner or easy to spot sign that says everything is hand-made by you because... LOL the debate about whether to talk to your customers depends heavily on whether they are introverted or extroverted! 🤓There are plenty of extroverted people who love speaking with the vendors. HOWEVER: As an INTROVERT, I will Run TF Away if a vendor tries to make a sales pitch. 😶‍🌫I love hand made goods, but I will just flat out LEAVE. All I just want to do is shop in peace and enjoy being out in the world. I'll ask if I have questions and will most likely buy something as long as I do not feel pressured or guilt tripped into doing so. 🤐 This is a common introvert trait. This is why signs and the info flags you have are so important. They give you a way to distinguish who it's safe to talk to. The signs give introverts all the information they need to make an informed decision to buy without feeling pressured. AND they give extroverts a conversation starter. Remember: All salesmen are extroverts, but all customers are not. 😉

I'm doing my first craft fair this weekend. Supposed to be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ive been trying to get everything prepared and ready but it seems like everything is pushing me back. I'm so stressed to the point I don't want to do it anymore. I don't really know what I'm doing since this is my first. I am supposed to be doing this with a friend, but Friday I'll be by myself. I have nothing 100% planned, and there's some major things I'm waiting on and I'm really worried they won't be done and ready on time. It's easy for me to work myself up and be in my head too much and I just want to cry.

I'm late to game with my 2 cents, but here there are anyway.😉 At bigger craft shows, all I really expect or even want from a seller is a "hello", "hi", "how are ya?" type greeting. There's so much to look at, and stopping at each booth and being made to hear the backstory or sales pitch starts to make me weary, personally. I actually love your set-up of positioning yourselves in the corner so people can move about the booth without having to make chit-chat if they don't wish to do so. 🙂 I think having a few signs that say K&G's Handcrafted Signs would put that same information out there, without stopping everyone to tell the same thing over and over again. It's one thing to give out info about yourself and your products if asked, of course! But otherwise, I personally prefer when sellers let signage do the talking, and stick with letting the buyers indicate if they'd like to chat or learn more.

Love you sharing the behind the scenes. It don't look too hard when you watch. It could even be done alone just harder for sure. But, it's not impossible to do and great to watch someone go for it and actually do it.
