Not much we can be proud of these days, but back then we had Susan Maughan and that beautiful voice, and what a voice.

This is one of my favorite clips of all time. Amazing 60s style. And I love how she never looks directly into the camera.

for her to still look this beautiful after all the refurbishing of the footage means she wasn't wearing very much makeup and has a true natural beauty . nice voice too, and love her outfit and hair.

I'm reminded of Dusty Springfield's 'He's Got Something' that I have on the 'I Only Want To Be With You' EP, as the fine slice of Brit Girl Wall of Sound that this is. You're right that it is a puzzle why it wasn't a hit. Susan Maughan is one of those lesser-considered female artists of that era from these shores and perhaps half-forgotten, but she certainly sprang to my attention during a time when I was very fond of trips to Birmingham's now-demolished former Central Library for their collection of vintage 'Radio Times' and 'TV Times' magazines when I encountered a feature of a programme - from this very year, I seem to recall - in which she featured with a photo of her and I thought something along the lines of, "My word! She's not bad! Susan Maughan, eh?"

LYRICS (Written by myself because I didn't find them anywhere else) Make the moon shine Just a little brigther Make him hold me Just a little tighter This a bet on you (?) Make my dreams come true Make him Mine Make the hour pass (?) Just a little slower Make him squeze me Just a little closer Closer to his heart From the very start Make him Mine I can't bear to ever let him go Since we met tonight Just the thought of being in his arms Makes me feel so right So I'm begging you to Make the night last Just a little longer Make his kisses Just a little stronger Make his heart beat fast But most of all I has (?) Make him Mine I can't bear to ever let him go Since we met tonight Just the thought of being in his arms Makes me feel so right So I'm begging you to Make the night last Just a little longer Make his kisses Just a little stronger Make his heart beat fast But most of all I has (?) Make him Mine

It's brilliant that we have this clip of Susan on high quality colour film. So many 60s acts were only captured on grainy black and white video tape.

I'm just learning to play this on my uke at the mo. I forgot how FIT AS F**K Suaan actually is lol and how good her voice is too. When I was a kid in the 80's I thought she was American. I'm now very proud that she's a Brit "That Other Place" is her best song in my opinion. That's why I posted it on my channel many years ago. Love her xx

Catchy song, Great voice and a very pretty lady. This should have been a hit - i can imagine Dusty Springfield doing this.

Actually, both of the ladies were recording under the Philips label at the time, so it could easily have been considered.

She would have made a smashing James Bond girl. Gold finger was made in 64, she would have been a nice contrast to Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton.

Avisynth does all the magic, literally doing some mathematical calculations and inserting an extra frame between the adjacent frames of a 24 fps or 25 fps film. The net result is that a clip that looks like a film can be restored much of the way to a clip that looks like live or videotaped vision at 50 or 60 fps. Some times this is unkindly referred to as the soap opera effect, but it certainly has its place in the restoration of video to how it would have looked "live"

@@957davidm Is that why the audio is sped up?
@957davidm
@957davidm Год назад
@@PhilMoskowitz The audio track, which was sourced from a 7" 45 rpm single, has been sped up by about 4% to more closely match the video, which was 25fps. If you live in a PAL 50Hz country, 24fps movies are shown on TV at 25fps. This speeds up the audio by 4.166% compared with what you'd hear in a cinema, but you get used to it. In turn the pitch has been lowered to more closely match the pitch of the 45 rpm record. So, the 45 single sounds slower when played on a turntable. Personally, I prefer the quicker tempo in the video clip I produced. I think it improves the song and it was the swinging sixties after all.

I agree, that within its time, I'm surprised this wasn't a hit in the Petula Clark mold. And I agree that it has a Four Seasons/Bob Gaudio-style vibe with the girl group overlay. I had never heard it prior today. How on earth did you find it? She sounds so American that it's hard to believe she's a Brit. Now I have to see if I can find a stream of Pop Gear/Go Go Mania. It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't like the 1962 movie, It's Trad Dad. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2O1b8evO2fs.html
