Take me back... please... I am now 76 ans her music was just so new and meaningful when i was 15.)anmd she was) . It still is. ....Such a natural powerfull voice. That was when music was about enjoing life and now its about how you can be bigger that some other usless cretin.
And I suppose there hasn't been any decent music written since you were 21, that sort of attitude makes me avoid people your ages, how arrogant, by the way, I'm 67 and the best music hasn't been written yet, thinking anything other than that just demeans younger generations. I love Helen Shapiro, I love lots of old music, but it isn't the be all and end all.
I am 75 and remember this so very, very well. Those were very innocent days, so lovely and happy. The world at our feet and pop music on radio Luxembourg 😊heaven.
No screaming songs out! Just a lovely faultless voice. Puts so called singers today to shame. Think we will be listening to them 50 years fron now? No chance.
Lovely I'd just met my husband I was 16 and he was 17 we holidayed in Wales with his family my hubby took me to see Helen Shapiro at a theatre in Prestatyn..boy could she belt it out everyone up dancing in Isles think there was supporting group we had a wonderful time went on to be married for 50yrs remember it like was yesterday
It's been playing over and over again in my head too. It sounds better today than it did back then (a better audio system). Your maths is a little bit off though. If you were 71 in 2021 you would have been born in 1950, so you would have been 11 in 1961 when this was a hit.
You are VERY happy that You have been born so long ago! You lived in more clean time and hope to achieve the most clean place soon. And to listen her celestial voice EVER!
I was a teenage Disk Jockey at a local Teen Club in New Brunswick Canada when I first heard Helen in 1963. She became a life long favourite. Her hits are still available on CD and are worth every penny. BTW I am 75 now and she still touches me.
OMG I have been into 60s music my entire life but I came upon Helen only last week. I am ashamed to admit that. She is awesome. I Can't get enough of her songs and amazing voice. I wish we had the internet so long ago
Even now in 2021 it would be difficult in a modern state of the art studio with electronic mixing, autotune etc to replicate this. What a stunning ,luxurious smooth fabulous voice, there really is a lot of talent out there today, but I can,t honestly think of anyone that comes close to Helen Shapiro,s perfect voice! Timeless!
l was 16 when l was courting, yes courting, that old word my lovely wife, unfortunately it went wrong many years later, still makes me think Fondly of the wonderful 60s
WILLIAM Hogarth What a fantastic singer she is and if you look back their are many great singers at that time , British and American Male and female singers ,when I am down just listening some old recording and. I fill good for a while ,🇬🇧
How can anybody not like this? I was only 1 year old at the time but it still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Wonderful era, wonderful artists and wonderful songs.
Vincent the 60s rera was so wonderful in many ways ,,Its music was so diverse we had a great choice ,, i will always adore those times until eternity lol x
You don’t know but I have loved this song all my life from a time when real talent existed not like today’s auto tune world And Helen Shapiro is just so sexy
I was around when it released in 1961. Became a #1 in the UK and those Commonwealth countries, which at the time were still of predominantly very 'British' origins, in their character, governance, trade and distribution. Played endlessly at its peak on the radio of the day, which was a good thing. Helen had a gifted voice, and this song presents it so pleasingly well. I still love it too. Timeless.
I am 68 years old now, I heard Helen on AM radio back in the early 60's. My heart throbbed at that voice, I was 10 or 11 years old, but when I saw that beauty! I was hooked! Move over Annette!
sung with great feeling by a young Helen Shapiro - already possessing a powerful, and tuneful adult voice, she interpretes and gives new meaning to any song she sings - a true artiste.
Just incredible, I heard it for the first time three days ago and instantly loved it, there's something to be said for the old recording equipment, this modern stuff just doesn't cut it.
Love Helen Shapiro. She was such a huge star back in the early 60's. When The Beatles first came out they went on tour with her, but she was the star of the show and The Beatles were one of her support acts.
Every now and then this pops up on my feed, a brilliant voice! My very first live concert too, YEARS ago in Glasgow, I love her now, as much as I did then,
Unfortunately US promoters were falling over each other to book British beat groups, many of which disappeared without trace. Having topped the bill in the UK at 15 with the Beatles as a support act, essentially she became a has-been before she was out of her teens.
I think she was only 14 or 15 when she recorded this. She lives very near to me and have often seen her in the local supermarket. Loved her voice then and still do now.
To me this was one of Helen Shapiro's best songs and at such a young age. I always love a song that has a story in it that you can understand and about love. ❤
Hi Helen, I was 15 in 1960 when I first listened to your golden voice and beautiful songs, such as "you don't know, don't treat me like a child" in fact all of them. You are amazing. I have all your CD's. Great Woman and Great Singer
Never remembered this until I heard it on a rerun of Call the Midwife. Waiting for this young singer to come on Sunday TV. I was about 9 years old but fell in love instantly. Remember when songs went straight to number one and the next week they were gone. This song captures those times perfectly.
I was younger than Helen, but she inspired me to be a singer, I won a talent contest with one of her songs, and went on to be professional for 20 years.Never made the big time, but toured the world with big stars of the day.Happy memories!
You have had the great life toured the world it's really a dream for lots of people including me, wishing you having a continue happy life all the way 🙋💕🙆
@@Qsv7RQ3ovB Thank you, you have to chase your dreams, I came from a large family, money was very tight, but that just urged me on.I joined a group and after winning opportunity knocks twice, we turned professional and had a recording contract. Our first single was recorded at Abbey Road, and we were told the Beatles were recording in another studio ,I hoped for a glimpse, but no such luck!We spent the next six summers first class entertaining on cruise ships, we spent three months touring South Africa with Max Bygraves, and in between worked with all the top stars of the day, really more than than I had dreamed of.We never made it to the top but I had a great time not getting there. One of our singles is on utube, The Freelanders, Turn of the Century.💙💚💙
I was 9 in 1963, nothing brings those times back like songs like this. Helen with her fabulous voice was a part of the explosion when the Beatles broke through and everything changed. She disappeared from the big time, but stayed in our hearts ♥️
@@peterbonning2455 nope. Not everybody has to like somebody. They came to the video and saw something they didn't like. Do u like every artist u ever saw? They might like other music or her biggest fans who choose her other songs. I for 1 love this song I'm only 36
Quite right Jean. I remember when she first appeared on TV. What a voice. So many Young Men like me fell in love with Helen. she was wonderful!! I'm an old fogie now in my 77th year!! I still remember those glorious songs
