I wanted to give back to the community that has given me so much musical knowledge by creating a lesson series to help beginners just getting started with Eurorack modular synthesis. This is a tutorials series for anyone who wants to learn how to use the Make Noise Rene 2 sequencer to its fullest capabilities. I've tried to break things down into small videos that are easy to mentally digest and apply to your own electronic music. We will be exploring both east coast tonal and west coast avant-garde uses of the synthesizer.
This sixth video demonstrates what the CV row of buttons on the Function page do. Please leave a comment with any questions or requests and a like if this was helpful.

Amazing Video! Thank you so much! I have a quick question in regard to the difference between S&H and Add. Isn't the Add rendered obsolete if I have a S&H function connected with a permanent rising edge (or one that is extremely long). Thank you! :)

hello, thanks for the video. i'm intrigued about the 4 octaves range, i think that's pretty low. that being said, is it possible to offset this range? say, if this 4 oct comprises c3-c7, can i offset it to be c2-c6 or c1-c5? i wonder about this because it's such a pain to tune oscillators up and down octaves without a switch since most oscillators don't have them, that if the rene could do that offset, although this range is still low, i would find it pretty usable since most melodies wouldn't occupy 4 octaves.

unfortunately the only way to offset octaves is to tune the oscillator itself. There are a few out there that have switches, with the Dixie II+ being one of the better ones. I haven't run into a situation where 4 octaves wasn't enough for a melody, and I just retune my oscillators on the fly for live shows. It takes some practice, but once you know your gear, it can be reliable.

@@EthanJamesMusic1 i was reading about transposing the patterns but they would have to be in the 4 oct range i suppose then. thank you for responding me, i appreciate it.
