Chef Ford has a lot of charisma and the recipe has some cool ideas, glad to have Central American food celebrated. I do wonder if this is how they make pupusas in Honduras, because as a Salvadoran, I was… surprised.
As a Hondurian, allow me to say this… no, we do not make papusas like whatever this is. More power to him for creative freedom but I’ll just get the simple, good shit.
Who is this man? all suave, chill and entertaining. Why have I never heard of Brian? I LOVED when he is smelled the masa "This is what we're made of, it's in our blood" 🌽🪶 Yaass, made this Indigenous gurl beam with pride. 😊🥰 The pupusas, curtido & salsa looked bomb. Delish 😋

Am really purchased do you tray to make Pupusas but yes but you need to make Pupusas with some one from my country El Salvador then you can see what’s Pupusas is
This was a fun recipe to make with kids. There’s lots of steps, but they are all pretty simple with close adult supervision. It was also a good lesson in planning ahead and calculating conversions without being boring. It was a fun project, and everything was really delicious. It’ll take a lot less time to make without little ones underfoot in the kitchen, but I don’t think it’ll be as much fun.
Thank you for making our food 🇸🇻 but many things were off. The salsa not even close, the chicharron is deep fried pork belly not the skin. But right for repping.
Salvadoran here. Love seeing my people's culture on display but holy shit was this preparation poor. The masa looks dry, the salsa is too thick, the curtido needs to be made over a day in advance otherwise it won't be curtido aka ferment. Disappointed. This may be how Hondurans make pupusas but pupusas are from El Salvador.
I was introduced to popusas when I was child. A place in Kitchener Ontario Canada, did them up. I can never forget the flavour and texture. One of my favourite eats ever
Maseca isn't the same as cornmeal- maseca is dehydrated corn that has been soaked with lime and ground. Cornmeal is just ground corn and will not re hydrate in the same way when making a dough. Luckily maseca is usually very cheap, at least where I live. Hope that helps :)
Love that your making my countries national dish. But your style is more in the westernized version. Is it wrong, no. Like a pizza, depending on the region it becomes it’s own.
I appreciate the honest effort here, but my grandma just turned over in her grave. When he blended those store bought pork skins and then mixed it with those dry beans, I just about fell over. Good try though.
At least He tried !!! But not please this is no my traditional food PUPUSAS ARE FROM EL SALVADOR 🇸🇻, and this recipe hurts my heart ❤️ it’s not a Salvadoreña 🇸🇻
I appreciate Salvi food being represented and displayed on this channel but this recipe is not it! First of all…the beans! Mans didn’t even use Frijoles rojos de seda! That was strike 1 lol The curtido? It was cut way too thick. The salsa? No need for all the different peppers! Just 1 jalapeño for a little spice and flavor! No shade to Chef Ford because his version does seem tasty but it’s definitely not authentic. Can y’all please find a Salvadoran cook to make some legit pupusas? We would all love to see that!
Brian Ford. You need a helper there to cut the vegetables on the chopping block my friend, that way you dont accidentally chop your hand off. That would be terrible. You wont be able to steal no ones plate without a hand after that.
Making pupusas its way simpler than this recipe, the salsa its just boiled tomatoes and pured some add oregano and salt, the beans never fried with butter, and the onions have to be almost burnt
This has got to be the worst pupusa video I have seen, salsa is supposed to be read, no spicy stuff on it. Beans should go in a blender. It is native to El Salvador only, you are allowed to say so.
To gracioso que diga q es latinoamericano. Si es más gringo que los ataques al corazón. Y que alguien le diga que es comino, no cumino. Que está haciendo el ridículo.
Why does the chef say we when talking about Latin America? Pardon me but an afro named "Brian Ford " what exactly is Latino about foreign blood and name ? If I had to guess I'd say jamaican, garifuna or haitian grandparents immigrated to an Hispanic country then to the USA. It happens ALOT Half of Panama these days is jamaican descendants
Omg that beans! My eyes burn... This USA styled pupusas are so wrong...the sauce looks like a taco sauce...wow!! That's what happen when people outside El Salvador try to make pupusas...they screw all
Why is it that people on this channel never seem to know how to use a kitchen? I get it Everything looks the same once it comes out but it doesn't have to look like crap going in as well.
