Is your 4L60E feeling STUCK in third? Can't make the SHIFT? Jokes aside, the 4L60E transmission circuit on these LS swaps is a little more complicated than the engine control wiring. It's actually tied into the IP fuse box, which we aren't using for the swap. Luckily, it's just one wire that needs 12 volts, and we're able to steal it from the rear O2 sensor circuit, since this C10 doesn't have rear O2 sensors. One connection soldered, and this square body is ready to roll!

I wish this had fixed my trouble. Sadly it did not. C9 is already powered on my fusebox. Ive been fighting it for months and still no solution.

@UglyTruckExperience 01 silverado in an 83 el camino. Engine,trans,harness and ecu from truck. Known rebuilt and good trans. I had it rebuilt and drove it a year before harvesting it.

In your case you will need to take the two pink wires, connector 2, pin f2 and put it in E8 on connector 2 if you are not using the rear O2 sensors. The wiring for that transmission originally came from the interior fuse panel which is not there. The older wiring diagrams are very misleading about the fuse boxes. If you are using the rear O2 will just need to run F2 to a key on engine running source. Good luck. Hope this helps. Jerry

I just saw your page last night. For the last year I have been driving my LS swapped 1988 Nissan pickup in 3rd gear, thinking I had either bad shift solenoids or a failing transmission. So, I have been manualyl shifting to get going. I just bought another used 4L60 this past Statuary. So, before I removed the old transmission, today I did what you suggested. I ran 12 volts to pin C9 in connector C1 and like magic, it starts in low and shifts properly. No one else ever suggested this but you. Thanks a million friend. Thanks very much. I’ve been watching your videos in search for the answer to my issues. I have a 1996 Fleetwood with the LT1 and a 4L60E swapped over to an 0411 PCM. It runs great but starts off in 1st and will only shift manually from there. It does have 1st 2nd and 3rd. It does have a VSS reading and when unplugging the transmission it seems to throw every code in the book so I believe the transmission is getting proper power. I’m just stumped because it shifted perfectly fine before the pcm swap.

8:45 I love all your videos they are very helpful , this is my first ls truck I didn’t swap the engine I swapped a 1973 gmc halfton onto a 2001 suburban or in the process anyway , but I’m having trouble finding the C1 block wiring diagram to match my 2001 suburban I’ve tried every where not sure if you have it not sure where to look thanks for your time

Great video. You have answered some of my questions without me even having to ask! But I have more questions--. My project is a 55 chevy, LT1 with a 4L60e swap . I want to keep the original speedometer. It is my understanding that by not having a digital speedo is the reason my transmission won't shift out of 1st. I've seen some kits where I can make it shift manually, but I would like it to be fully automatic. Any guidance you can give is greatly appreciated.

I have a 84 c10 4X4 and I did a ls swap with 4l60 trasmisión to it it work great but it only go on fist gear Y ready fix the trasmision and put another trasmissión and put a new computer new wire new sensers and it do the same thing

I want to restore my dad's 76 c10. It use to have a 3 speed manual transmission but he changed it to a 350 hydromatic. The question I have is do I need to change the rear end on it. I can use a the help I can get thanks for the great videos.

Your rear differential should be fine. Odds are it may have a 3.08 rear gear ratio which will be fine with that thm350. A 3.73 would work also but would be more of a powerhouse than a cruiser. I bet it has a 3.08.

Im working on getting a 4L80E running off a 2000 1 ton van computer set up for a 4L80e, and its swapped into a carb'd truck with an HEI Distributor. Ive got everything cept a tach signal because I dont know what to feed to either the crank or cam sensor signal line to the computer and I think Im going to try a 7 pin module to feed a square wave reference to one of the two sensor signal wires and see what happens. Im not sure but I think it needs a rpm signal for engine speed to wake up and make the shifting happen because everything else is wired right.

Gearing up for a 6.0 4L80 from 2006 2500HD swap into an 85 C10. Any difference in 4L80 vs 4L60 for the wiring shown here for powering the shift solenoids? Same kind of install: factory fuse box, DBW, etc. Also curious about if cruise control hookup would be the same as your video and have TCC work. Just not seeing much for 4L80e’s. Thanks. PS, grew up in Spfd, Ozark and Sparta and love seeing such a good channel coming from the area!

It sounds like you are using harness and ecm from a 6.0 with a 4l80 behind it originally. If that is the case they are pretty much identical when it comes to wiring those items. If you we're going from a 4l60e to a 4l80 the plug needs rewired for the 4l80 but that's it.

Help me please if you can. Did a 5.3 swap from a 99 silverado into my 1997 GMC sierra. The truck shifts 1-2-3 just fine and then proceeds to just stay in 3rd after that. I can manually select 2nd and take off in second but once it intially goes 123 it stays in 3rd. I hooked up the rear o2 power into the shift solenoid wire at the transmission plug but that didnt fix it. Im stumped. Replaced 1-2 and 2-3 as well as the 3-2 shift solenoids. Also using a standalone harness. Everything functions on my truck gauges etc, but the tranny doesnt want to come out of limp home mode.

Hey I had a question I have a 4l60 I did my swap with a Fitech standalone harness I’m getting 1/2/3 but not 4 gear I checked my solenoid I’m receiving power to 1-2 solenoid and 2-3 solenoid but not power on my pressure control solenoid is that something with the transmission harness or do I have to send power to the transmission just like you did

The pressure control solenoid doesn't have power going to it. There are 5 solenoids that have battery voltage going to them from that one circuit. 1-2, 2-3, 3-2, TCC and the TCC PWM Solenoid. What year is this transmission?

Hey Felix. If you bought a standalone harness specifically for a swap, it should have power going to the transmission solenoids. I would go to the transmission plug and check for power with key on to begin with. Jerry

The original c10 did not have any wiring that goes to the transmission. Some of the later c10's had lock up torque converters in them that would have wires going to that but in the event of a ls swap those wires would just be eliminated. There would be no use for them in a swap. Thanks

Hello Damien. This is supplying power to the shift solenoids and the powertrain control module to control it's shifting. The VSS get its power from the PCM. Jerry

This is old I know and may have skipped over in the comments but anyway does this fix the needed pulse for the 4l60e to shift if using say a np208 transfer case? So it would eliminate the need for speedo signal? Hopefully that makes sense. Love what you two do! And love the content thanks in advance

Swap is done and truck is running I purchased a Dakota digital pulse generator , but have yet to install with the weather, this seems like a way easier way to fix the shift issue??

Hey Mangle! Great question! No, the wiring in this video just supplies power to the transmission shift solenoids. You'll still need a pulse signal for your speedo. Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching!

Love your videos. They have really helped my son and I work on his first truck. We are building a 77 C10 with a 5.3 from a 04 sierra. We are using the stock fuse box, harness and PCM. It is a DBW. Our issue is- the truck will start and idle all day with no issues. No check engine codes or anything. As soon as we give it throttle it acts like it is killing the injector pulse. I haven’t had a chance to try and verify this. We do still have ignition when this happens. We have replaced the tps the pedal and the maf. Any ideas on what to do next? Just curious if it was something related to the trans stuff we aren’t using. It does have a TH350 in it. Thanks!

Hello Brandon. I would check your fuel pressure first while opening the throttle to see what is happening at that point. If that maintains a good pressure it sounds like you might have injectors that are plugged up. Sometimes if that donor sat for a while with old fuel up in the rail, it can clog the injectors when you first go to start it. Shouldn't be anything with the transmission. Sounds like it is trying to bring the RPM's up when you open throttle and no codes, so I would think it is a mechanical issue that the ECM is going to have a hard time to detect. I just checked the fuel pressure and at prime it sits at 48psi. As soon at I start it up, it goes to 90psi. Even when the throttle cuts out it maintains 90psi. Any thoughts on this?

It sounds like whatever you are using for a fuel pressure regulator is not working. It should stay at around 58 PSI no matter what.

@@UglyTruckExperience that’s what i was thinking. I am using a walbro 255 in the tank and a corvette style filter regulator. I guess it could be bad. What issues might too much pressure cause?

Ok but how do I know which wire goes to the A and B solenoids? A lot of the wires have been cut from the original builder, so I can't tell which one to send the power through to get it to shift... Thanks for the video!

Hello Joe. The power that we are supplying in this video goes to a few different solenoids. They are turned on and off by the ECM by grounding whichever solenoids need to be on to apply the gears. If somebody has cut those wires you would need to make sure that all of those wires that had been cut are repaired. What is it that you are putting a LS in? Jerry

If your working with a 2002 harness and box, you might just need to wire up some different wires. They are different from 2002 to 2003 and we go through that in this video. Correction. I just noticed that your donor was a 01. On this one you will not need to do anything other than make sure your Ign0 fuse is good. Sorry for that. I should have read message better.

Hello Scrapman. If your using a harness that was built for the engine and transmission that you are using, it should have power to the transmission like normal. When you get to the point of driving it and if it seems like it is stuck in third gear, check the correct pins at the transmission plug and see it has power with the key on. Let me know how it goes. E7 Connector 2 is the same. C9 is not the same. On a 2002 that wire would be E2 in connector 2. Jerry

Jerry, could you check again on E2 connector 2? I have no wire there. E1 there are 2 blacks and E3 has a green. but nothing in E2. My E7 does have 2 orange for the rear 02 sensors. @@UglyTruckExperience

Need to figure out exactly what this wire harness and fuse box is from. Your wiring that you are describing doesn't make much sense looking at these diagrams. E7 should be 2 pink wires if they are going to the O2 sensors. Double check that you are reading the plug correctly. It can be confusing. Also, I can't find a instance of a Green wire in E3 on C2 for any of those years. Try to narrow down what this came from and let me know. Will do my best to help out. Jerry

Howdy Folks - Where would a guy buy extra PINs to complete this project? I thought about using two extra wires I pulled from unused sections of the harness as they would be plug and play but it’s probably a better idea to start clean and use new wires and pins. Should I check GM’s part departments at a dealership, local parts stores like AutoZone, or find a supplier online? Lastly, what would I call that pin so I’m ensuring I order it correctly? Hey Tony! Let me see if I can find a part number to order just the pins, but we just pull the unused pins and reuse them. Just make sure you're using a high quality, heat shrink, BUTT connector! 😆😉 --Emily

Yep, exactly! 😁 Jerry and I were talking about this, and he also pointed out that unless you can find original GM pins, aftermarket pins may not fit as well and could cause a big headache if one had a bad connection.

Unfortunately my truck is not shifting still. I have it wired the same way you did in the video and pin E pink wire on the trans still doesn’t have power. I jumped the wire and it shifts but not great. 5.3/4l60e out of a 04 2wd suburban that ran and drove before being pulled. (Also seen that E11 c2 should have power which it does and c100 connector needs power on pin c tried that and still nothing)

Ok. If you have power at those two pink wires with key on you should have power down at the pink wire at the transmission connector position E. If you don't. You must have a break in the wire and possibly a problem with others that are loomed in the harness with it. That would possibly explain it's poor shifting when you jumped that wire. Jerry

That 2003 wiring is hard to figure out. Your power to run the transmission comes from the IGN0 fuse. As long as you are using the original wiring harness you shouldn't have to do anything to get power to the transmission. If you have power with the key on at E11 on connector 2. It has two pink wires coming from it. Everything is good. Jerry

Hello, you have gained another fan in me! Can I connect my transmission from the O2 sensor spot like you did and keep my O2 sensors functional? I am hoping to keep everything as it came from the donor as much as possible, obviously transmission hook up would be one change. Thanks in advance @uglytruckexperience

Good morning, can you please advise me on my issue, I did my swap and used all parts from donor truck 2005 5.3 but the transmission is from a 2007 and the plug on the tranny is black instead of the green one, I wired it like shown in your video but I’m still stuck on 3rd

Hello Victor. In 2007 they changed the 4l60e. It has the PRNDL switch inside the transmission and does not use a pressure control solenoid valve. You are trying to mix and Gen 3 with a Gen 4 which can be a problem. You could check with whoever did your ECM programming and see if that computer can be made to control that system. If not, you will want to get a earlier transmission that matches your ECM and wire harness. Probably not what you wanted to hear. Let me know how it goes. Jerry

Thanks jerrry I got it to work I’m running original fuse block 2002 5.3 4l60 I got it to shut off got my main power key on off the ignition wire where u insert key so it shuts off now

Now my transmission won’t work original harness I’m going to swap those 2 pink wires to a key on power source to see if it will fix my problem no reverse just low one gear and have to give it gas

The wiring for a 2002 is totally different. The power for the transmission is already set up in the harness and fuse box, so if you are using the stock fuse box and harness you shouldn't have to do what we show in this video.

I'm doing mine now. Black box e7 to white box c9. The factory white box does not have a wire in that location. 1999 silverado ls 5.3 lm7 4l60e. I have complete donor vehicle. Going in a 1985 c10 Actually the only wire I have in common is the pink A-9 on the white box. Please help.

Ok on that truck you may not have to do anything but plug it in. On connector 2 which is black. Check for a pink wire in positions E2 and F2. On connector number 1, the white connector. Check for a pink wire at position D3. If all of those wires are there, you will just need to plug it in and make sure fuse IgnO fuse is good. Its a 10 amp fuse. If all is good, check for voltage at F2 on the black connector with key in run position. If you have 12 volts, all is good. If any of those wires are missing, let me know. The early truck wiring was way different. Jerry

Ok, I see what you have. The info on this wiring diagram is not great. This truck has another connector that is called connector 1. It is black in color and also plugs into the bottom of what is called the left bussed electrical center. It will have that pink D3 wire in it feeding your transmission. As long as that connector is plugged in you should be ready to go. Let me know if that is correct. Thanks, I learned something new on this one. Jerry

Hi UTX, do I need to give power to F10 & E11 of the C2 block to get my trans to shift? I hooked C9 up to a switched power distro block I have but I get no move😊when I put my truck in drive. I did get the following codes: P074, P0785 & P2761. Thanks in advance

Hello Robin. According to my diagrams. F10 is unused in that truck and E11 in connector 2 would need power with key on. That supplies power to the solenoids in the transmission. Did your transmission come from the 05 also? Jerry

Pin E, which should be Pink wire would be the only one with power except for the Red wire in C that goes to the pressure control solenoid. Is your truck stuck in 3rd gear or is it in 1st and does not shift? Jerry

I have issues still after doing the same thing as your video. I have a c10 1984 with a 2005 engine 5.3 and transmission 4l60e . I cant take off on first moves forward a little bit But when I manual shift it runs good but I have to take off on 2nd shift. Ones I got speed I move it back to D DRIVE it and seems to be working good . ITS JUST THAT FIRST GEAR. DONT WAMT MANUAL SHIFT NO MORE LOL. FORGOT TO MENTION WIRING STOCK WITH STOCK FUSE BOX . SAME WAY AS YOUR VIDEO

For the code you have, I think you don't have power going to your transmission. This video shows supplying power for a 2003 or later donor. I use a standard that is on most of these trucks and suv's. I cut the pedal off in a particular area and move it about 5 inches to the left. Use the original mounting holes in the firewall and adjust the pedal to be at wot mashed to the floor. We will do a video soon. Thank you for watching. Jerry
