Thank you for the videos. I own a c10 1980 square headlight and hope someday I’ll have it as a daily. With an LS of course. You made it look so easy and I’ve been watching all the c10 videos as it been an inspiration. Thanks again. (Arizona)
Wouldn't you also have to switch the hole plug at the tail section if swapping? The 2wd needs the one with the weep hole to allow fluid in the channel of the tail section back to the bushing and the 4wd has a solid plug.
Im working on getting a 4L80E running off a 2000 1 ton van computer set up for a 4L80e, and its swapped into a carb'd truck with an HEI Distributor. Ive got everything cept a tach signal because I dont know what to feed to either the crank or cam sensor signal line to the computer and I think Im going to try a 7 pin module to feed a square wave reference to one of the two sensor signal wires and see what happens. Im not sure but I think it needs a rpm signal for engine speed to wake up and make the shifting happen because everything else is wired right.
Hi guys , got a question for you. I am working on an ls swap project and have come up with some dilemmas. When you have a neutral safety mechanism in your column as well as the one on the 4L80 trans, which do you choose, same goes for the starting wiring to the solenoid. Are there reasons to pick one over the other? Love your channel, lots of good info!
Hello Mike. I eliminate the original switch and use the newer version on the 4l80. I use the original purple starter wire to trigger the newer starter relay if using the donor harness and fuse box. Thanks. Jerry
Hey Jimmy. No we have not done a G20. We missed out on a chance to get one last year that would have been a great candidate for a swap. Let us know if you end up doing yours. Jerry and Emily
@@UglyTruckExperience,i have the 5.3 an 4L60 from an 04 suburban, i was looking at a tahoe last week cuz the wheelbase looks bout as long as the G20,still pondering...
Hey Timothy, the upper radiator hose is a Gates 22436. We use the donor radiator, so all of our radiator hoses are from the donor as well (2004 Yukon). Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! --Emily
When you guys use a factory 2005 truck engine harness do you take it apart and de pin and remove the the wires that don't get used or do you just use it as is? Example if you were doing a swap and using a non electric transmission like a 400 turbo would you de pin and eliminate the transmission wires from the harness?
Hey David. I have looked at the number of wires going to that ECM that we don't use and really didn't see the sense in removing them. Even if I wasn't using the electronic transmission I think I would keep them just in case I wanted to go with a electronic version in the future. I do cut the not needed wires off, heat shrink them and shove them back in the harness just for looks. Thanks for watching. Jerry and Emily
I know you mentioned it, but I would absolutely buy one of these from you. It seems like a way better design than the other eBay style. Those seem really flimsy
Hello Eduardo. Just replace that resistor wire with a normal 14 awg or 12 awg wire starting from the block at the firewall. We own a 76 also. I would love to do a swap on it. Thanks for watching. Jerry and Emily
Hey William. She does that to keep me going. It is not the easiest thing for me to talk and try to convey what is going on without some kind of feedback. We both have our annoying things that we do and are both striving for perfection. Hang in there for a bit. We do appreciate your comment and thank you for watching. Jerry
I know this is a old video but do you remember where you got the relays and what gauge wire is in the 5 wire loom you have running down to the fuel pumps? thanks
Hello David. I run a 12 awg wire down to the fuel pump. The OEM is a 14 awg which works fine but that 12 will get power down there easily, especially if it is a longer run like on a long box or a Blazer. Here is a link to the relays that we buy. Thanks. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074FSZWVT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks Gary. Some people have made it a drinking game. We are not trained actors and we we're a bit nervous with all of the talking that we had to do in this video. We have gotten better as we go hopefully. We do appreciate you commenting and watching. Thanks. Jerry and Emily
Another great video! What was the reason for not installing the crank bolt and not flushing the balancer all the way? Is there a particular place to stop the balancer install before adding the bolt? How do you know when the balancer is flush? Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions. Your videos give me more confidence to do a ls swap on my Nova.
Hello RowdyC. I end up putting a new bolt on the balancer and torque it down. Torqueing it down is my way of knowing that the balancer is all the way down against the oil pump drive. I probably did not have a new bolt sitting around yet when we did this video. Thank you for watching and that was a great question. We will address that in upcoming videos. Jerry and Emily
The videos are very informative. If only the women’s voice that adds commentary and adolescent, immature humor would stop. “You said butt”. What are we 10 years old? Great info keep it up
Thanks for commenting cgrimm. When we record these video's it is done on the fly and with complete silence in the shop. I would normally have the stereo cranked for some personal entertainment. Our jokes back and forth with each other is our way of keeping a flow going and enjoying what we are doing at the time. Thank you for watching. We do appreciate it. Jerry and Emily
Yes, The vent line from the tank goes directly to the purge control valve and also to the carbon canister if you are using one. If you are not using a canister you would need to use a vented fuel cap or install some check valves in order to keep from building pressure in the tank. Jerry
Keep up the good work. Quick question... for my 87 montecarlo ss & im wiring up my TCC/Brake switch, how do I get my brake switch to work with the car running... my car cuts off when i press the brakes
I think I would checked the main & rod bearings Just for Sheitz n' giggles ! 170 K is lots of miles and who knows if they took good care of it ?when it was recommended !?!?!??
By the time we get to that point, we already have a good idea of how well the engine was maintained. Carbon build up under the covers, sludge, and debris in the oil pan are all signs of poor maintenance, and this engine looked pretty typical for 170K. Several thousand miles later, it still runs like a top and has almost 80 PSI oil pressure at cold start. So far so good! Hopefully we can hit 270K before we have to tear into it. We appreciate you watching and commenting. --Emily and Jerry
It'll get the job done in a pinch, but the heat gun looks so much nicer in the end. And having an open flame in the engine bay isn't always a good idea either. 😆 Thanks for watching and commenting! --Emily and Jerry
My truck was recently struck by lightning and bought used ecm just wondering if ecm has to match bcm cause bcm got hit as well they sell them already vin programmed just wondering if I have to program to truck vin or new used ecm vin thanks 🙏 for any help
I noticed this blazer is manual transmission. Are you doing this one currently? If so I was wondering if it would be possible to come and meet you and talk to you about it? I am doing a 1985 chevy crew cab dually swaping in a 6.0 lq9 from a 2005 Cadillac Escalade and my truck has the SM465 4 speed transmission in it also. I have had guys tell me that LS swaps don't work well with manual transmissions So i would like to get your take on that. I live up by clinton missouri but need a reason to go to Grizzly tool and Lamberts Cafe anyhow. Lol
Hey neighbor! 👋 Yes, this Blazer is going automatic. We haven't done a manual transmission with an LS swap yet, but from what I understand, they can be tricky to tune. We'd recommend finding a good local tuner and talking to them about it. And if you're not busy on September 7th, come say hi and check out the C10 Cruise N' Show just north of Springfield! We'll be there all day! 👍
When you bolt your lift chain to a cylinder head of the LS engine. What size bolt , threads and grade of bolt do you use to hold the weight of a chained Ls engine .
Thank you very much . It is a two piece connector the one with the wires and the one that's stays put on granny does the one on the transmission also pop out.
You guys are awesome! I have learned a lot from your videos. I was wondering if you had a link to the heat shrink butt connectors you used on these fuel pumps. Thanks
Hello, I find y’all’s videos really helpful! So far I’ve got my ls sitting in the truck, wired up I have the fuse box and water reservoir along with the radiator hold down as y’all do in the videos but I am having an issue and was wondering what cable y’all use for drive by cable throttle body. Thank you!!
Hello Johnny. All of our swap's have been drive by wire. I would think that there has to be somebody out there that sells a cable for that. I wish I could be more help. Thanks. Jerry
I have a question on my 350 trans with a blue plug lock up connection I guess but does it have a o ring because it leaks from this connection when I add fluid because it's low but then it leaks any advice?
Hi , is there a way i can buy one for my 86 c10? Im doing a 5.3 dbw and i also want to keep my 700r4 till i save up for the transmission , thanks in advance
Hello Andres. Sorry for this late response. These pedals are very difficult to get just right. We did this video to maybe give some ideas on how it could be done, but I don't think we have heard from anybody that was satisfied with the cable and the 700r4. Even if it takes a bit longer, you would be much happier with the 4l60e and possibly money ahead. Thanks. Jerry and Emily
It's hard to beat a two tone paint job on these squarebodies! Jeff almost had this one painted solid black back to original, but we're glad he didn't! It's a sharp truck!
Cant wait to see how you're going to use that 4L60e and transfer case with the passenger side drop. Maybe its easy, I dunno. I just kept my th400 and np208 for my blazer cause it was my first swap
We're super excited about this swap! We've had a ton of questions about 4x4 swaps, and we'll be able to answer a bunch of them. On this truck, the 4L60E bolts up to the NP208, but we'll have to change the output shaft on the 4L60E. How do you like the TH400 with your swap?
