Lots of other concrete things you can do to move the ball forward - purchase an online ground school course, study and pass the written test, find an AME and get your medical done if you have no health issues or signup for Aopa and get a consultation from them on any medical concerns you have BEFORE going to the AME, interview flight instructors and figure out what type you might like to train with, figure out where you want to train and what kind of equipment you want to fly, get a headset so you're ready to train, study the ACS and really learn what you need to be able to demonstrate for the flight test as well as all the experience requirements you need to meet, prepare yourself with ACS knowledge so that you can be in the driver's seat on getting your license efficiently - don't show up to the airport waiting for your instructor to tell you what to do, after you take your intro flight, chair fly (literally sit in a chair and pretend youre flying) at home multiple times to reinforce what you just learned.

You guys continue to inspire. I started listening to the podcast in 2020 with a dream of flying and zero flight hours. Been a listener ever since and currently with 200 hours and a PPL, about to sit for my IFR rating. I’m also in training for Army National Guard helicopters. Please keep up the work… it has encouraged me to chase the dream!

Working hard at it. Bought a Cessna 150 two months ago.. about to do my PPL checkride here in a couple weeks then it goes in to get IFR certified with G5s/GPS etc.. Going to do my best to fly 20 hours a week after work and on weekends as I get ready to leave my law enforcement career after 20 years to chase this aviation dream.

Your videos are inspiring,i’m 60 years old and work in an Amazon warehouse and go to the gym on the side, my free time is spent studying. My dream is to fly PC12’s and maybe jets for a part 91 or a 135 operator. I never give up!

Man Ive taken action. Ive done the intro flight. I got a lot of the equipment I will need like headset, flight com, books ,etc. Found the flight school that will work for me. However roadblocks like money and medical are proving difficult to overcome. Im not done trying but I i see the door closing in front of me and its discouraging. Im happy for this podcast to help keep me going.

Money is definitely the hardest part. If the money is out there somewhere I sure wish I knew where it was. My credit got wrecked a few years ago from layoffs, and now even the student loans won't let me borrow.

Guys this is awesome. Loved the Little Rock comment, because that’s where I’m from. I actually had an interview at signature today for the line and to start training while I am (hopefully get the job) on the line. Been watching the vids since the summer where I decided this is what I wanted to do post grad. So pumped about training. I hope to keep you all updated and would be awesome to see y’all in signature in Little Rock 👊🏼

I have yet to hear anyone say this in the industry, but a great way to meet other aviation enthusiasts is to join your local eaa chapter if you have one!

Thank you for this comment. I've been learning aviation for a year and I have never heard of EAA until tonight and there's a meeting this Tuesday. So I appreciate you for this.

I have my commercial checkride in February. Just returned to flying after having to stop for over a decade! There’s a book out there called “Atomic Habits”. Keep your goals small and achievable each day.

Thanks for the podcast and the advice. The only thing I’m waiting on right now is an FAA medical certificate. I am older and I do have some medical history behind me, so the AME deferred back in May 2023. I’ve sent two batches of requested documents to the FAA, the most recent in early November, and I’m still waiting for a response. I can’t justify spending money on training until I know I can get a medical. After that, I get to figure out how to pay for training. :-)

Question for you fellas: Is it better to work for a regional that is owned by the end goal major or does doing otherwise improves chances of a bonus and doesn't affect likelihood of getting hired at the major. A fellow student stated that working with an affiliated regional has little to no affect on your chances and you're better off going and building hours for the highest bidder. Love your stuff by the way! It's pushed me to start school with ATP.

There has to be some sort of airplane analogy equivalent to the thermostat... Hmmm 🤔 running lean/rich? Haha

I may regret it because by the time I get to the regionals the pilot shortage could (and is showing signs it probably will be) a thing of the past, but I already have a 6 figure job and want to take advantage of that to spend another year saving for flight school. In the mean time I am studying for and intend to have all my written exams done before I go to school.

I got over 50 hours picking it up after 10 years due to the Army and now that I have 20 years and retireing my Unit wants me to work all the way to my terminal leave in November when I should focus on my 2nd career becoming a pilot. I already past my FAA exam, got a class 3 for now and I am soo hungry for this that its not funny. What should I do?
