You can color it with any ink refill, water colors, food coloring or acrylic paint. That way you can use white and gold Dollar Tree eye shadow for the mica. Use white with any color and gold with warm colors. That way you don't have to search for special colors. When I make things from scratch I like to get neutral ingredients and color with what I have. That way all the elements of my projects match and you have more options. Love the video!
WOW! Both of these glitter pastes you made are absolutely gorgeous. I especially love the 2nd one with the Glitter Mod Podge in it because it looks slightly thicker than the other one you made, and the really expensive one that you bought. I've got all the ingredients for making this glitter paste and it's a great way to use glitter without it flying around everywhere, as glitter has a tendency to do! Thank you for sharing this great recipe for glitter paste. Love from Amanda in Australia
Hi Amanda, you are so welcome. Now a days we have to make the best of things . Price's have shot up so much that, homemade seems to work just fine. Love from Bobbie in the U. S.
Thank you so much! I love this! Especially because: I just bought three L. A. Colors loose eyeshadows for another project; I'm watching your video over 3.5 years after you posted it, and Dollar Tree just started carrying Aleene's clear gel Tacky Glue! I've recently bought two jars of BoBunny Glitter Paste, and one Stencil Paste at Tuesday Morning. I think they were $4.00/each. I've been afraid to use them, because I didn't want to "have to" buy more. I will always make them, from now on. Thank you for your kindness.
Remember the first one you made just had glitter. The second one with the Mod Podge already had glitter in the version you bought AND mica. LA Colors “loose eye shadow” is available at dollar stores. Mica in it with the glitter is going to make a HUGE difference. At Michaels or JoAnnes they sell ultra fine glitter.
Thank you so much for telling me how to make my own glitter paste I use mod podge and red glitter and it came out beautiful I have a bunch of stencils so I'm going to have some fun stenciling with this new method
Thank you. I am so sorry you lost your job. I understand tough times. Been there a time or two so, I hope this helps. Check your local Dollar Tree and see if they have mod podge, glitter and powder eye shadow. If so, you are in luck. let me know ok? TFW Hugs, Bobbie
Love it!! Tfs!! I also like using the L.A. Colors eye shadow to make shimmer sprays and wink of stella. I just pop open the eye shadow container and make what I need!! 😊
The fastest and the cheapest way to make this is with any fine glitter, pigment, or eye shadow and a glue stick. Just mix it together and there you have it.
Thank you for trying them and doing the comparison, your generosity got you a new subscriber 😊. I am wanting to try this and the gulding wax as they're both beautiful but expensive.
I liked both of the colours you made. I could have fun trying these with mixed media projects. I’ve never seen the LA items at the Canadian Dollar Tree or Dollarama. We get ripped off in the Canadian stores. 😢
I am so sorry that you all got ripped off. Not fair to you all. You can use any mica powders that you can get your hands on. Go as cheap as you can. BTW thank you!!
Bobbie`s Creations and More I wanted to make this and I had a formula in mind and you confirmed my theory :)) Thank you so very much. I think the prizes of most products for crafters are perverse. I make as much as I can myself and I can only confirm your statement: "Thanks to all you RU-vidrs" for sharing your knowledge and thereby making us all a bit smarter :) THANK YOU and Advent greetings from Slovenia :)
Wow how cool is this......i already have mod podge tacky glue and glitter....i'm good to go. Thanks so much for the tips, i shall get back to you on my findings. Also try Alovera and eye shadow, have not tried this myself but saw it on youtube. x
debbie parker You are very welcome. Yep! The results are amazing. I can't wait to see your results. I have not seen the Alovera and eyeshadow video. I will check it out. Thanks for the tip! TFW Hugs, Bobbie
I know. When I received the butter paste i was shocked to see a tiny bottle for a large price. Never again, if I can’t make it myself, I’m not buying’ it!! So thank you, I’ll make my own!!!😊
Great video. This is my 2nd video for making glitter/glimmer paste, the other one I watched is from Sasha Reade & she uses Tacky glue(from Tonic studios, but as long as it’s pretty thick, will work & used mica powder, or eye shadow). I can’t wait to try all of them!
Bobbie's Creations and More Thank you. I’m sure I will, your method looks like it would be longer lasting (the glue one only works for a short time-meant for making many backgrounds at one time). 🙂
I like the eyeshadow one better but i think it would look just as good if u used it with the heavy gel instead of glitter. Thank u so much for sharing i love bonunny but have never bought any bc of the price
THANK YOU!! I just watched a tutorial with nouveau glitter/glimmer paste, it was $7.19 for 1 ounce! I don’t know where they come up with these prices? Everyone wants us crafty people to be able to make things and use their products, but they charge $7.19 for a glue and glitter?? Crazy!!! I’m definitely going to be trying this! Question was the Liquitex just a medium gel? And where did you get it at Michael’s? Did you prefer one over the other?Thank you so much Liz😊💗👍🏼Cape Cod Massachusetts
Hi Liz. The Liquitex is a heavy gloss gel, I got it at Hobby Lobby. To be honest, I liked them all. I just thought I would have a go at them all. The ligitex and glitter was cheaper in the long run. 1 jar will last you a long time. I don't have a Michaels so, you will have to check to see if they carry it. You are very welcome! TFW Hugs, Bobbie
Where did you get your stencil? It is better than most of the ones I've seen. I bought some glitter and heavy gel, and some stencils. I can't wait to try it! Thanks for sharing your results. Very informative video!
Hi Jennifer, I got it at Walmart. It is back where the Waverly paints are in the craft area . They are very good quality. Thank you so much for your sweet comment. TFW Hugs, Bobbie
You can even go to the next level and make your own texture paste which is cheap and easy all it is is 1 cup of baby powder 1/2 cup of school glue and 1/2 cup of acrylic paint you add more powder to get the consistency you prefer then add your glitter
i think, It's pretty cool , if you want to make a custom-made colors. Because the supplies to make it are bit expensive. Mod podge $ 4.00 with coupon, tacky glue $ 4.00 with coupon, eye shadow $1.00 , fine glitter, it run$ 2.00 to $ 3.00 each depending how many colors I want to mix. It comes out to $15.00 using 50% coupons might be a 2.00 more with 40 % coupon for 1. Then second one different color it would $8.00.
Why give the big stores our money, when we can make it for a lot less. Yes , it might cost a bit more in the beginning but, You an make a lot more this way. Don't forget, when you run out of the premade stuff, not only do you have to pay for it again plus, the price may have gone up by then and you have to pay sales tax on every bottle you by. That can run up a lot of money over time. TFW Hugs, Bobbie
CraftyCritter919 n No not really, I don't think prepaid will GO that much You just need to shop around. But the only reason why I posted this is because You said 6.99 was a bit to much at hobby lobby. ( Bunny brand ) but with coupon You get it for $4.99. But anyhow just knowing that if I wanted to make my own it's cool. TFS. 👍
I have no idea on either the metal or the wood. All I can tell you is to make some and try it. I know it works great on cardstock. Wish I had a better answer for you but, I don't. Sorry!
I think the Liquitex medium should work great on wood. For metal take a look at the hardware store. Something with a solvent base might work on metal. Like a Minwax clear paste, maybe?
Does this need to be kept in an airtight container or will any container with a lid work? Great video by the way. I love the side by side comparison between the 2 methods. Thank you.
danine56 Hi danine56, Yes,I agree, I like the sparkle pod pudge better myself. I have since made lots of other colors using the mod lodge and am happy with the results. TFW Hugs, Bobbie
I’m definitely gonna try to make my own! I have a ton of ultra fine glitter and I never use it because of the mess it makes. Does it dry out in the jar? Was wondering about that. Thanks for the info!
heba saad Thank you. You can take regular glue and mix it 50% glue and 40% water. That is the same thing as Mod Podge. If you have extra fine glitter (any color of your choice) add that in. Now you have sparkled Mod Podge!. It is the same without the smell.. Happy Crafting! TFW Hugs, Bobbie
This is awesome! I don't have the heavy gel and it is way out of my budget but I do have reg. mod podge without sparkle will that work? or should I add some super fine glitter to it? TFS...
hiya, can i ask you a question, does the glitter dry embedded and not flake off when you rub it, or does it still come off when you rub it with your finger, hope i make sense. please let me know (hugs) Diana x
4kiitieslady Depends on the amount of shine you want. I started out with about 1/4 of a teaspoon and tested it . If you want more then, add more. It is really up to you you and how much shine you want. Hope that helps! TFW Hugs, Bobbie
Keep them in an airtight container. I only make what I need for each project. I have not had that problem so, to be honest. I don't know. Just make small amounts and keep whatever is leftover in an airtight container. I hope that helps.
LA Colors is the Dollar Tree Brand name they use for their makeup.. LA Color is the full name. If you have a Dollar Tree in your area. Check out their makeup and you will see what I mean. Hope that helped! Hugs, Bobbie
