This has been my first mechanical keyboard and it is an awesome experience. The low actuation linear switches took some getting used to, but I’m converted at this point. Just a pro tip for anyone who orders the black model: it seems the reason why it scuffs so easily is because of a coating over the aluminum that is literally just brushing off with every pass. I believe washing it off with window cleaner (make sure that you do so when the keyboard is disassembled) or isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel. I did this myself and haven't had any scuffs or a weird powdery feeling since then! Fantastic board for the price, especially if you tune it that much more when you start modding it.

@@pacjosephnovabos8765 Not in my experience, though after about a month of having this keyboard you may need to give it a bit of that treatment every now and then but its still holding well and is not NEARLY as chalkboard-y feeling as it was when I first took it out of the box, YMMV, though.

@@pacjosephnovabos8765 No sweat! Can't really speak on the factory lubing as I went ahead and used some hand lubed WS Morandi switches and some hand lubed stabs as well, the switches it comes with if I recall correctly are alright at best but it's never a down side to change the switches down the line with this case! Sound profile of this case makes most lubed switches sound like a dream.

I'm modding this keyboard and found that the force break mod needs to have the tape at different spots. The screw holes in the top cover protrude a little over 1mm and there's roughly a 1mm ring of contact at each of the 6 screw holes. You can see them at 7:01 The raised parts on the bottom housing seem to only be for indexing the top and the gaskets.

Pretty decent keyboard I would say, probably hindered by lack of VIA/QMK support. The plastic film is PET film, most recently released boards actually comes with these and does affect the whole acoustics, depending on the build of course.

I love your channel and have been watching it for sometime, cringing at the prices of custom keyboards and trying to find the best bang for the buck. I just got one of these and it's soooo good. My opinion isn't worth much, as I'm coming from a mac keyboard, but this keyboard is wonderful! Even my eight year old said "Wow, that sounds amazing! I want to type on it!" and they've never even heard of a mechanical keyboard before. I haven't tried modding it at all, it thocks real nice to me as it is.

@@HipyoTech I bought it for 71€, was 80$ I think. Also a big plus is that shipping was included in the price. As a small critic of your review, you mentioned that there was no VIA compatibility which is true, but you could have mentioned that womier has its own software for this board that allows remapping of keys, macros and lighting effects. Its not QMK/VIA but its definitely usefull in its own way.

I absolutely love this keyboard. We got it in purple but admittedly did change out the switches to KTT Strawberry's and it sounds more thocky as opposed to clacky. My daughter tried it and it is now lost forever so I had to order the new red version. When ordering I suggest that you also buy the random keycap set for only an additional $10. The gradient purple set that we received is amazing, great quality, nice colors, good lettering and matches the purple theme. Thanks for the review Hipyo, this keyboard is worthy of your praise. Cheers!

Great video! It's encouraging to hear that the hobby has gotten so accessible. Should you still tape mod if there's already a layer of case foam at the bottom? Asking because I have a keyboard with case foam but it's still not as thocky as I'd like, but I'm not sure if adding tape at that point will make much of a difference.

Looking forward so some 75% action! Got the Leobog Hi75 when it first came out and it's been a great board with some light mods. It actually has a PolyPropylene plate (hehe peepee) and if the first kit I've seen use a PET sheet on TOP of the PCB. I removed the PE foam on the PCB and it got even MORE foamy/creamy. It totally THOCCS with the case foam, plate foam, tape mod, and PET film sheets. This is despite a flex cut PCB with flex cut plate.

I actually bought a barebones premium keyboard for USD 380 which didn't even come with stabilizers. After watching this video and because I was looking for a purple /lilac keyboard, I bought one (yes I used the link) Damn was I blown away. It sounded better out of the box than any of the keyboards I've ever built. And I've spent hours tuning stabilizers and lubing switches but this damn board sounded exactly like a fully modded keyboard out of the box. Bought this one as my office keyboard after the good review. I am so blown away by the quality for the money. Won't even bother modding it in any way. This was my second "enthusiast" keyboard after a redragon K552 with speed silver Akko switches, HyperX Pudding Caps, a tape mod, case foam aswell as modding and lubing the stabilizers. The Womier SK-71 is really almost perfect out of the box. I really like the sound and feel of the switches, the case feels so high quality, it's heavy and feels sturdy. Connectivity has been perfect so far. I got the black one, since it suits my office setup and I really liked the twist with the keycaps. Thumbs up for that recommendation!

This keyboard is a great option for general usage. Not particularly excel in a specific aspect. For example: it is too long for a 65 layout, if you play FPS then it kinda stick out and poke you if you tilt your keyboard like me. Missing the F row for editing job or MOBA game. But it is great for typing job like copy writing or office job since it is MAC Compatible and my work laptop is a Mac. Other than that, it is also easy to assemble/disassemble, take no effort to mod, good stock stab (minor lubing is required). Overall: Great entry level keyboard

Pro: Yunzii offer pink and green in addition to all the colors of Womier. Con: Yunzii only provides the keycaps on the board, Womier gives you a full set if keycaps you can potentially use on another board. I also personally prefer Womier's minimal look without branding.

I purchased this keyboard about a month ago because I had seen some positive reviews on RU-vid and was drawn to the incredibly low price (I paid only €73...). So, I was absolutely curious to see how it's possible to sell a full aluminum mechanical keyboard with switches and keycaps at such a low price, especially when all my other custom mechanical keyboards are well over €200. I must say I was absolutely impressed by the quality of this keyboard: CNC aluminum frame, gasket structure, case foam, plate foam, PE foam, good keycaps (and many extra keys for larger layouts), discreet linear switches (a bit scratchy despite factory lubrication), and some extra keys compared to the typical 65% layout, which can be very useful for assigning keys, especially here in Italy where we have the issue of accented letters. Most importantly, what convinced me was the excellent sound it produces right out of the box. Of course, with the mods we've seen in the video (force break and tape mod) and by changing the switches, you can achieve excellent sound quality, not far from much more expensive keyboards I own. Additionally, it has three operating modes (USB, 2.4 GHz, and BT) that can be really useful. The drawbacks (because there are some) I have encountered are: plate-mounted stabilizers instead of PCB-mounted ones. They need some work because they rattle and are poorly balanced out of the box. However, once properly lubricated and secured to the plate, they do their job. The keyboard is gasket-mounted but is not very flexible, especially inexplicably in certain specific areas. The keyboard is not compatible with VIA, although the Vomier driver still allows you to remap keys as desired. The RGB effects are decent (but personally, I'm not interested in them). In short, an excellent purchase, given the incredibly low price I paid (€73, including shipping from China to Italy), perfect for office use, quick tests on other PCs, and so on. Moreover, it's "in stock," so no tedious and exhausting group buys. In the end, I gave it to my nephew who had been looking for a wireless aluminum mechanical keyboard for a while, and he was completely satisfied.

Guessing doesn't have QMK/VIA support otherwise would be perfect, plus 75% layout would be perfect.

Hipyo - have you considered adding the keyboards to your shop and selling them to viewers? I don’t live anywhere near Seattle but would love to buy one and cover shipping.

The plastic sheet‘s primary task is not the sound but to eliminate the risk of any shorts on the pcb due to flex and contact with the metal case

I got this in early august and have rebuilt it several times, my latest iswith bsun x switches and WOB abs keycaps, I actually like the clackiness (personal preference, right?), and it just sounds good. I'd love to see what you think of it without the foams and maybe just a little polyfill in the case.

i see you own this sk71, and you're using Bsun switches? is there any issue? is it compatible? I really like this blue version colour, and i have WS Morandi switch and Bsun RAW Clear Tactile. Can you advise me making the decision?

Hey buddy, thanks so much for the recommendation of a great keyboard. I watched the video and jumped straight onto Amazon and bought one. Arrived today and, holy schmoly it's good!! Like, very good for the price. But...can you help me with something? I can't figure out how to tell what the battery level is on the keyboard. I mean...I've gone through the very small amount of instructions, checked YT AND looked all over the internet, but it's like they don't want you to know or something! Sheesh. Do you know how to test the battery level?

Howdy hey. I was wondering if you could make a video where you mod a 75% keyboard in ways, we can do at home. I think the 75% keyboard layout is the layout of choice of many people, so if you got an Affiliate link, you would maybe get enough money out of it, that it would pay of- Love your videos!
