Casey, you are a godsend. This is the 4th video I've watched in the last half hour and the only one to properly show what I was trying to do. I feel like BlackMagic could make this a lot easier to do, though. Coming from a former FCP/Motion user, their system of creating your own titles is a billion times easier than this.

I so needed this a few weeks ago. Even though I’ve been subscribed for over a year, this didn’t pop up until today. I’ve got a massively complex comp trying to mask a few different text elements along the bottom of my videos that calls out what is happening during church services. Great, if you create a png image with the same name as the macro and with a size of 104x58 pixels you can use it as Thumbnails of your effect.

I'll have to actually try this the next time I open Resolve, but as of right now my only "criticism" is that I wish this tutorial was slowed down a bit. As it is, I felt like it jumped around a lot, and then at the end when you decided to change node paths and all that, I think my brain blue-screened. XD It could also be because I'm old, who knows! I'll try following along next time I open the editor and see if I can figure it out! All that said, thank you for these videos! (I've watched several tonight, so I feel like I'm spamming the comments. LOL)

You have to "apply mask inverted" in the settings of the last merge.

Hey, thank you for this nice tutorial. Is there any way of publishing parameters to the Edit page without going over external files or templates or macros? I very often just want to create a Fusion composition from scratch I never re-use for one single project and make some parameters visible in the edit page so I can iterate quickly over the settings.

for anyone trying to do this sort of thing with the box set to 50% opacity or something like that, just add a color curves node in-between the scale everything node and the Merge Node. Change your curves on the alpha channel and then BOOM its fully white and can mask out your content!

Hello! This is great and very helpful. I'm trying to utilize your steps to create a two-lined branded lower third, but I'm struggling with the shadow effect lining up for both lines and looking classy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

This worked the first time very well. But when I make a new project and try to load up my Title effect in the Effect menu it says Media Offline. Only if I open up the original project does the media load when i drag in the effect. Can anyone help me get this working with new projects?

Awesome stuff! Wonder if anyone can help, please? I want to create an effect where I zoom in on a word, down to a single image in a letter - the letters are made from multiple images (hope I've explained it well enough). Would I have to create an image first , that's a collage shaped, in to letters for the word then use zoom within resolve to get close to an image in a letter, or is there something I'm missing entirely? Thanks in advance.

I followed your steps for saving and compressing the "edit" file. When i try to put it in the nodes window resolve tells me its unable to install because the path is not right

In my template there is a small icon animation wich is a looped video with alpha. Do i have to include this video in any way into the zip or drfx file becuase when i import it it says "media offline"

that files trick with the fuson composition thing was cool, but i was wondering, can you also save the fusion composition to power bins somehow?

Is there a way to limit the color choices? For instance, according to a style guide, company A is limited to 3 main colors and 6 complimentary colors.

For some reason my unconnected audio slows down at the end of this clip when I drag it in????? Even when I remove it, it like jacked my current clip up. :(

Hey Casey, I'm new to Davinci Resolve and struggling to create a lower thirds template for my company. They want a blurred-out background, a colored bar that animates onto the screen, and text for the person's name and position. The lower thirds should take up the entire lower third of the screen without dominating the picture. How can I create a transparent background that blurs out the video in the background? Also, trying to create a thin coloured line that animates ontot he screen sounds simple, but again I'm struggling. Any tips or advice you have would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a way to use an expression, maybe, to dynamically set a keyframe to that an ending animation can be performed and not have it dependent on the length of the fusion clip? For instance, you want the title to be 3 seconds one time and 7 another. So the end animation is triggered n number of frames from the end of the clip, which is variable.
