This tutorial shows how I make my DIY wool curls and wavy fur for my little felted dogs. Its a really fun process and you probably already have everything you need right in your kitchen. First I will show you how to take straight merino wool and make it into springy curls that you can then use to make wavy fur or smooth curls for your needle felted pets! I think this is a really good Needle Felting video for beginners.
I'm Jules, and I'm a newly obsessed needle felter who loves making whimsical miniature versions of people's pets. Sculpting with wool is something I had never heard of until August of 2020, and its like magic!! I started this channel to share tips and tricks I've learned along the way. Thank you for this video. It's better than most I have seen. I do have one suggestion, though ... you didn't mention how long to steam the curls. I'll guess at 5 minutes. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

I’ve tried it with all kinds of wool! Smooth merino seems to work the best, but it works with every kind. Try different twisting the wool as you wind it on the skewer and try winding it both tightly and then with a lot of space between to see which you like. Different twists and winds gets different results.
