A quick, easy and cheap DIY upgrade to your ruler, perfect for crafts. This easy DIY solution will save you time and effort on your crafting projects!
Tired of your ruler slipping resulting in uneven cuts? Does your wrist and fingers get sore from pressing down so hard, trying to make your ruler stay in place? Here we show you an easy solution to that problem by adding an anti-slip material to your ruler.
This is a great tip for your crafting projects. We like to create inserts for our board games and storage containers for the different components, but this is a very useful upgrade to your ruler for any craft where you desire a straight cut, be it professional or hobby.

Great video. And happy i found your channel. Looking forward to follow you. My recommendation for family games, forbidden island, Bohnanza and ticket to ride.

For a long time I made my ruler non-slip by sticking 'temporary' double-sided tape to it, touching it a load to wear the tack on the tape down even further, and just literally sticking it down to the paper. It's great for making sure the ruler doesn't move with pretty much zero offset, but... it gets really disgusting after a while! How do you find the foam works? I've used it for soft bases for things before but it always seems too slippery itself to make a non-slip base. For unrelated projects I discovered you can buy 1mm rubber sheet pretty cheaply - people use it for making gaskets - and that works pretty well, but... it smells really bad!

That's really smart with double-sided tape! The biggest downside with the foam is that it is a bit too thick, so you can't get as close as you'd like. But when cutting cardboard, it worked well and was definitely an improvement over the slippery metal ruler, so we were happy with the results. I guess every method has its downsides!
