Cool tips. Using the solvent free gel is a good idea, also great way to still use older brushes.

Thanks so much! I have a filbert too that is old and frayed. It is my go to for flowers on my azaleas I painted recently in a beautiful southern landscape with an old oak tree complete with Spanish moss. I love your snow scene and the colors of the larger pines.. such a neat contrast to the pretty sky colors.

Will try the filbert for bushes next time! Do you still need to thin the paint down for the highlights when using the solvent free gel? Or does the gel thin the paint as well? Thanks for the awesome vid as always, love the tone on the sky on this one as well, awesome happy little painting!

The gel will thin it down AKA make it more workable. Let me know how it goes for you when you give it a try.

Wild I want to paint a winter scene just trees and the trees throwing long shadows
@WildCreates

I would highly reccomend using a reference photo. Then let the paint tacky up and paint the shadows in last.

so that means filbert brushes can make more details at bushes!

Yes! Especially the older ones

Generally the smaller the brush the more detail you can control. But this is just a suggestion.... feel free to experiment and try different brushes.

I have been watching your nebula videos. Can you tell me what brand of acrylic paint you use? I use Apple Barrel and it's definitely not right brand

Does it work with acrylics?
@WildCreates
@WildCreates 5 месяцев назад
Yes but you will want to use aa different medium since this gel is made for oil paint. Take a look at Golden products ( they are great ). I talk about a few here in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nI5D-HC7e5o.html

This is a cool tip, yep I've got me a few beaten up brushes that would do the job very well, which leads to another good tip for artists, just don't throw old brushes out! Haha yeah another story about not throwing brushes out, one of my former colleagues, her sweet but often absent minded mother did the cleaning at our center, and one painting day, when I went to set everything up, I still had all my new and well looked after brushes, but all the manky beat up ones were nowhere to be seen, which was weird because I put them aside for that very day that I needed them, so I asked everyone about them, only to be told that the sweet mother that helps clean up, she threw them in the rubbish! Her reason, yep, they were OLD!! And in her mind, anything that looks ratty tatty needs to go 😂🤣😖 We forgave her because no one told her to NOT throw them, but at the same time, deep within our emotions, we were silently raging and tearing our hair and laughing and face palming, basically every emotion you can think of, we were experiencing them ALL AT ONCE!! I managed to get through that painting lesson, but using new brushes to do the job of old brushes, yeah that wasn't easy, but we made it through and the students did a great job with their paintings 😊

When the light catches it the right way it will have a "gloss or sheen or glow" appearance/reflection to it

I have been teaching a lot lately & This is a painting I teach all new painters when they start, since it has all the basic elements. Rather than toss it away and waste money I can use it to show you something useful like this video. Feel free to become a member or donate to help support the channel if you wanna see more different paintings.
