My wild Uber story? Driver last year talked to me about religion the entire time. When we got to the airport, he asked me to go to church on Sunday instead of a tip. Then shoved a whole bunch of pamphlets for his church into the top of my carry on.

I literally spent over 50 years confused about everyone loving cilantro because I thought it tasted like soap for all. Just thought I was the weirdo who didn't want to eat a bar of soap. I honestly don't know if it's as strong a soapy taste for others but even a sprinkle as garnish completely overpowers. My son also has the gene, he says "thanks Mom, I have to ask for changes because of you." 😅

I want to comment about those with dark skin being better. I will agree with you and my thoughts on why. We never had makeup that matched our skin tone for decades. Skin care was huge with everyone I knew growing up who had darker skin, and our moms/grandmas/aunties would push skin care because we didn’t to have a drugstore with of products for us to choose from. It really wasn’t much for us to choose from until 2005+ and think about how many decades and generations had to just rely on our natural skin.

Amazing about your mom! As for the cilantro: it’s genetics! Some people have that gene that makes it taste like soap! Two of my sisters hate cilantro for that reason. I love it!

I am watching this episode in a restaurant that only my husband and I have been to together. He passed away a year and a half ago at 42. Thank you for keeping me company during my solo dinner. With a story that makes me know 1. I’m not the only person who has lost someone young (which you know, but the reminder is helpful). 2. Reminiscing about how beautiful our wedding was. 3. Remembering him during good times while enjoy one our favorite meals that we ever had together.

I look forward to this podcast every Sunday! Ngl I was very hesitant when Kevin first joined because I didn’t know if I’d like him as regular but I kept watching. Sometimes it takes me a while to get used to someone but it didn’t take me long with Kevin. I love the chemistry between him and Johnny. They’re like twins in the way they know what each other is thinking before they say it. They each stand on their own in their experience and knowledge of makeup and together they turn out a funny, informative, and an all-around great podcast!

Ok I stopped the video at someone saying nope to Kevin. I know it doesn’t fix the widespread issues but just sending you love there is literally NO REASON for this. I just read an article on LinkedIn about consideration of lgbtq in more corporate workplace and it’s like consider when you invite your colleague out to a happy hour, sports game, conference in another state- the whole Time they have to weigh their literal physical safety and how likely it is they’re going to be discriminated against harassed etc. I’m glad you both speak oppenly about this bc it’s important that people know this is a constant plague on ppl. IDK where my first comment went, but I wanted to pass on that there are multiple kinds of musk used in perfumery, and genetically, some people can't smell one or another at all. So it absolutely is the same thing as cilantro Also, the original Cloud is supposed to be a dupe for Baccarat Rouge 540 from the house of Francis Kurkdjian. It's a higher end for sure (find it at Saks, Nordstrom, etc), but it is sublime. Lots of celebrity attention. I don't go in for much in the way of luxury cosmetics, but BR 540 changes my mood in an instant. I tried Cloud first (for the savings), but nothing beats the real thing.

Would be curious to know what your thoughts are about Sheglam being part of the Shein conglomerate.

My really good friend was getting married on Dec 1 . Well about 2 in the morning Dec 1 i got a call and found out my mom was being taken to the er unresponsive. I beat the ambulance there and she passed away . Had to call and tell her I wasn’t coming and why . It still hurts a bit when she post anniversary posts . Not her fault but it still stings a bit . My mom was only 53 so it was a shock .

Too funny listening to your bridal makeup. When I got married I asked the person who did the scheduling I told her the time of the photographs and the wedding and then said you tell me what time you want me and the girls ready for you. I also made sure I included them for breakfast and drinks and tipped all three. And the best part of this is the fact that the girl who did my make up as the bride didn’t bring any of her “notes “from my pre-make up session, forgot that I had paid for eyelashes got annoyed with me when I asked, about the eyelashes Didn’t write down anything about doing my hair or having to use a wand because my hair is thin the curls fall out in a heart beat, she got annoyed when I reminded her of that. When everything was done, I still remained gracious and said thank you my make up looks fine. When everybody left, my bridesmaids said you know you look exactly like how you would’ve done your make up if you did it yourself. I said all I wanted was first time in my life is just to have my make up done right (better than I can do it) and to look pretty on my wedding day. I was so disappointed.

I’ve had the exact same thing happen with perfume! I watch this one influencer who does beauty and fragrance. I usually love her recommendations, so I blind bought her favorite summer perfume. Not just a one time mention, but like for a whole year or something she was talking about this perfume. I cannot smell anything when I spray it. My husband can’t smell anything. It’s so strange. Then the last time I sprayed it I got a migraine immediately afterwards. So something is going on with my brain chemistry and this perfume.

We always try to sit first base side at Yankee Stadium so we can have some afternoon shade. The heat is brutal especially mid summer. Love you both!

I am a white-passing POC who is also fat, queer/pansexual, and a nonbinary person and I appreciate having makeup videos, where I feel comfortable and can relate. Also, I am all about the artistry, because while I am going to school to be a therapist I want to do makeup as well. Makeup has been a passion of mine for years, and I miss the days in 2008 where you could pull up a video and it be about the makeup! You folks have also helped me not purchase another fucking Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palette! I absolutely have the “cilantro gene”! I thought I was crazy when I first tasted the soap situation, as none of my friends had the issue. The gene, OR6A2 an olfactory receptor, found Typically in East Asian, African, and Caucasians share the trait. Out of those 3 ancestries 14-21% have the gene but over all with the U.S. population it’s roughly 4-14% that share the gene/trait. Personally I love cilantro. I seem to only taste the soap flavor if there is TOO MUCH cilantro, especially more noticeable when cilantro is used with a more mild flavor/recipe vs. a savory/spicy recipe. PS: I love y’all!!! When I was a makeup artist I always felt the same, that doing makeup on deep skin was more satisfying and inspiring. I wonder if the comparability of creams vs liquids on dark vs fair complexions can have to do with the actual pigment concentrations in each shade. Like how there’s more titanium or zinc oxide in the light shades than in deep shades, and maybe that impacts how it blends in and reflects light, etc

As an oily skin person who’s favourite moisturiser is the vitamin enriched face base, I almost squealed on the walk to work seeing the skin tint. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a skin tint.

Cell phones were first invented in the early 70’s and became a commonplace item by the early 90’s. The cilantro thing is actually genetic.
