How I make 4” soil blocks without a blocker and the blocking mix I use.
4-10 qt buckets sifted Peet
2-10 qt buckets Perlite
2-10 qt buckets sifted Compost
1 1/2 cup Azomite Rock Dust
1 cup Green Sand

Perlite:

What if you glue a two inch styro-foam block into the bottom of your form, when you pack it and then decant it, from the form - your two inch void will already be there.

Yeah maybe glue it would work better, I tried a block of wood but it didn’t do well and shifted. Thanks 👍🏻

Why not just add a 2" piece of wood to the bottom of the pot, then fill and compress the soil. When you turn out the soil block from the pot just pull out the piece of wood. Much easier than destroying your block by trying to dig out a 2" hole.

Hey Sherry! I had tried this and had some issues with the top sides falling so it was more of a hassle at this time for me anyway. I’ve been able to get pretty quick at making them this way now. I’m sure there are many ways to make them better and we will experiment with more as time goes on, I’ll let ya know how it goes :)
