This week im using my Ender 3 to 3D print and paint a few buildings for the Printable Scenery Warlocks collection.
These builds came out looking amazing and I would love to get a few more going to really build out a full game table. The models are available from their website along with a massive selection of other incredible designs.

Thanks 😁 I'm keen to keep expanding it, just need to wait for all the prints for churn through on the ender

Excellent! Haven't yet taken the dive into making terrain (limited storage space and not enough time), but this certainly tempts me! Would love to see more buildings, especially mixed with trees and other flora!

Thanks mate, the terrain is a lot of fun but definitely takes up space. I'll be building up a full city with all the gardens and trees in the future! I love making a full game table with all the extras

If you want a mat spray, you might consider using some of the primer options rather than going for the model paints there. I would also suggest using craft paints for the metallics with how much you used them, they work well and cost a lot less.
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
Thanks for the tips. My issue is finding any spray paint in my local area that isn't super expensive that's not glossy. We just don't have the range in the local hardware shops. The Matt sprays are either black or grey and that's about it. And I totally agree on the creaft paints! I didn't realise how much this build was going to use untill it was too late to go to the shops. Think I need to stock up on a few cheap acrylics

Using a spray paint for the large areas or base coat is such a time saver but I hate it when I accidentally touch them with my layers or details.
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
Oh yer! I was thinking about going over and fixing them up, but then I would probably just spill over onto the copper details and the cycle repeats itself

These came out really smooth, what layer height are you using ? Definitely worth the wait to get such a good looking model!
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
I print at 0.2mm layer heights with a 0.4 nozzle. it takes a while but its definitely worth the time for a good print in the end

Wow! great job. I designed all the models for that campaign, so cool to see it get this much love, also a massive fan of your alternate colour scheme! thanks also for backing the Hagglethorn Hollow Campaign. do you have vids for that one too? cheers. Johnny.

Huge fan of your work mate! I followed the haglethorne stuff since you were on the tested video. Love everything you put out! I'm working on a video for the haglethorne stuff now, just printed the fisherman's hut and currently painting up the ruined hunters lodge.

I'll be doing a video on the haglethorne stuff soon, I've printed and painted a good chunk in the past but have recently started to do a few more. I like the idea of oving from the haglethorne village style and into the warlocks district as the players move through the city.

I had similar problems. Tighten your belts, even if you think their tight, double check them, tighten them anyway.
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
Yer it was definitely loose! Also needed to replace the PTFE tubing, turns out I had cut it slightly too short over a few fillament clogs so it would sometimes pull too tight. Thanks for the tips 😁

What scale are you using?
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff 7 месяцев назад
I do most things in 28mm for wargaming and DnD. These buildings are designed to be that scale, but could always be changed in your slicing software
@a.block.of.tofu.
@a.block.of.tofu. Год назад
roughly how much do you spend on each building like this?
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
A build like this is fairly cheap since its just a 3d print. Its probably like $5-$10 worth of fillament and then maybe $20-$25 on paints. It costs a bit more for some of the other builds that i make from scratch, but it all depends on how many materials are used. The main investment is time

Have you tried printing at a smaller scale using your Ender? Like at 1/64?
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff 5 месяцев назад
I havnt printed much smaller on the ender. I have done a few smaller scale prints in my resin printer tho. I think if I was to scale down on the ender ri would want to really tweak up my setting to make sure the quality is on point. I'm planning to do some smaller scale stuff soon for some dioramas. I'll have to test out the ender when I do
@TheYogiCollection
@TheYogiCollection 5 месяцев назад
@@SebMakesStuff makes sense. I have a resin printer as well but making it with FDM is cheaper and stinks less 😂. Agree with tweaking the resolution and layer thickness to get the detail. Worth a try. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks Mate.

Hey im also in australia, im designing a boardgame and was interested in a premium version with nice structures but way smaller than this. Its a hex city builder
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
That sounds cool, a lot of these printable scenery Kickstarters have the ability to buy a licence to resell their models. Could be a cool way to get some really high end models for use in your game. Or were you looking for something more custom?

@@SebMakesStuff Yeh i was hoping for my best buildings to look like the new skyscrapers in singapore with trees and vines hanging off them.
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff Год назад
that sounds awesome. I haven't seen a lot of modern buildings personally. But im usually looking out for the fantasy stuff. You should try contacting a local university that does 3d modelling as a part of their curriculum, you could probably find a student who would love the chance to work on a game. I know my uni Qantm used to do partnership things with companies for some assessment items (its been a while since I went there but im sure they still do) and students are always looking for a good thing to focus their final assessment around that they can then use in their portfolio.
