In this video we will be making an All grain {not} a bourbon at home, using simple feed store ingredients:
What makes it a Bourbon, first I am not in America so this can not be a True Bourbon, but it will use a classic Bourbon mash bill.
How to make a Bourbon at home.
51% Yellow corn 4.1kg
19% Wheat 1.9kg
20% Malted Barley 2kg
The recipe is really simple, Gel your grains mash in at 64 to 70 degrees and leave it for 90min, sparge to 20l and ferment, I did spare to just below 40 litres and this had a gravity of 1.050 that should yield around 8% ABV.
I pitched Bootleggers yeast @ 33 degrees.

Hey B, Gotta grin and bear it on those days..😆😆 we all have them but its just more fun when you see it happen to someone else. My last all grain my brew bag went missing, last minute find wifes pillow case. Use in B.A.P . Burn pillow case to bottom of pot. ruin batch. Spill on floor when removing from B.A.P . Clean mess . No mash . No love from wife, sleep on couch no pillow..😨😨

Hi Rick, Jip that is so true I have a few bad ones but this one took the cake, there was more wash on the floor and counter than in the buckets, I was a sticky mess, but that is what makes it fun no matter how many time I do this every time is a new challenge and that is what I love. I have had the bag tear on me in the very last seconds of sparge dumping all the grain into the wash, I left it all in there and just pitched the yeast. Fermented on the grain, what a mess that was. But the hard work pays off. Have a lekker one Rick

Mate, enjoy your vids, down to earth, food explanations and demonstrations. I suggest a 100kg still, as commented on earlier. All your recipes are 20-40 litres which can be scaled easily. In addition, going much larger requires more energy for heating! Cheers and keep up the good work.

Bwahahaha... My V@k Beaver... Wat n gemors! Well Done man! I reckon you should make a 100L still, cos if you do demo's/videos, down scaling a recipe is super easy if you using a round number like 100. Just my thought! Look forward to the 2nd part of the "Groot Gemors Wort Bourbon".

Hi Kegan, This was one hell of a mission, you know when it all just goes wrong and it just keeps snowballing out of control, well this was one of those days, I had to clean almost every surface and mop the floor, and my shirt was soaked. But hey still worked and it fermented out in 2 days.

Ha. Yeah mashing grain can make a huge mess. Next time I’m going to do it outside over the grass. I use a mop bucket with a squeezer for the grain bag and it does an excellent job

Hi Robert, Awesome tip will have to inverst in one of those, I think the mess is part of what makes it taste so good.
