Helped a friend pick up a 240sx for a steal of a deal ($1,000) but it needs work. Subscribe to stay updated on his and my s13 as we restore these tin cans!
Gotta agree! I got mine the same way. Its the 1st s13 video posted. Both were a headache to get but we don’t give up that easy lol. As soon as you do they’ll sell it to scrap yard.
@@ShadeTreeBuilt09 So true! I asked about a ae86 i found tons of times and they never wanted to sell. Then one day i went by and they told me 700 and i didnt have the money on me. I came back a week later and they had scrapped it....That was a long time ago but still makes me mad haha
They’re fine actually. Just the rear qtr is a bit sus. This is a southern car too. But he should be picking up a shell soon though. So it’ll get addressed.
Thanks man! I’m actually looking forward to the fun stuff myself. We got it going again today and took it on its first test drive. Some minor hiccups but we got it sorted. Gonna finish up the new vid and get it uploaded tonight.
@@ShadeTreeBuilt09 put it on a lift if you can my bro, before you start throwing lots of money into it. Frame rails, floor, rear subframe (and the subframe bolts), trunk, the list goes on, these cars literally rust everywhere lol. Currently having some rust in the spare wheel well of my S13 get fixed, patch and paint was about 1500. Hope your s14 comes out nice
@@blakeslide6919 going through this with an rsx I got, gotta get rid of the car it’s so bad. Motor and trans are as healthy as ever but there’s rust holes in my floor there’s not a single part of the car that isn’t rusty/rotting. Went from New York to Ohio so it’s had a rough life.
@@E.dirty_six Sorry to hear my man. If it make's you feel any better, I did a lot worse than you and bought a shitbox 240sx, thinking I was going to restore it and what not. That thing was so damn rusty, and when I took it to a shop that knew what to look for I was so embarrassed at how bad it was. Felt like an idiot. I actually traded that one to my mechanic for labor on a new S13 hatch I had bought, much cleaner chassis. Had to fix some rust in the spare wheel well, it wasn't bad but I wanted to nip it in the bud ASAP. But rust free everywhere else thankfully. At least you have a car that gets you back and forth hahaha.
@@blakeslide6919 that’s what I tell my self in the long run like hey at least I can get to work, but I traded my 99 prelude for the rsx thinking it was a pretty clean stock rsx and stock yes, pretty clean, no. Now I’m on the hunt for another fifth gen or a clean enough type s.
Thanks man! Good catch! Lol that’s our friend’s. It runs and drives after sitting for years as well. He’s storing it there for a later project. I’ve had a couple Rd1’s and one 2nd gen. The 1st gens are awesome.
I found the best looking all original 89 240sx pignose coupe I’ve ever seen to this day for $700 back in 2018. It was dirty as hell and needed a few small things to fire up and drive from sitting 10 years on a concrete slab but, otherwise straight body no rust complete original interior no cracks in gunmetal grey/grey and black interior. I sold it for a nice flip because I was broke back then but, definitely regret sometimes after seeing the prices just after a few years later. I have never seen an original one like it in that shape ever since I let that one go....😭😭😭🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Dang man. Ya let me down. Lol We’ve all been there. I sold mine because I ended up with 3 broken vehicles. My duramax started mixing coolant, s13 had the motor pulled and GTI had the head at the machine shop. Sold the hatch because it was more of a project that I ended up not having time for. Sold it for a loss. Hindsight is 20/20 unfortunately.
@@ShadeTreeBuilt09 yeah I sold it to a good home fortunately though. They eventually did an sr20 swap/wheels/body kit and painted it white. Personally - I wouldve kept it as original as possible besides wheels/suspension, given the shape it already was.
@@ShadeTreeBuilt09 It had been parked across from my parents house for literally over ten years in their neighbors yard. Found out it belonged to their son who lived out east who had no place to park it. Im pretty sure the father sold it to me behind the sons back because he was tired of it sitting there so long.....I can only imagine how his son reacted later when he found out how much his dad sold it to me for ....🤭😂🤣🤷🏻♂️
Been there myself man. Got a Canadian spec s13 hatch about 4-5yrs ago. Paid 1k from the original owner. Sold for less. Interior was mint. My coupe is staying. Live and learn
That’s him! I don’t personally know him on a face to face level. Just social media and he’s the s-chassis guy to go to for parts. Just works out he’s in Al too. Lol
You can bro, and when you do it's some of the most fun shit ever. Pick up a ride, find friends who have or want to do the same as you. Meet people that want to see you succeed and vice versa.
Cool thing with s14’s, plastic tank. We didn’t even have to clean it. Just drained it out with a $7 Harbor Freight pump. Mine was a complete headache and by far the worst I’ve seen.
Bro I was genuinely surprised when you turned the camera around. I expected to see some big ol white country boy 😅 y’all have to be in the south lol. I’m in GA if y’all are close holla at me 😂
They’re out there man. If you’re in a big city definitely not due to code enforcement. But you’ll have a better shot cruising older neighborhoods on the outskirts of town.
Man, a s-chassis wouldn’t even be on my radar at price. We only have ours because how we found them and what we purchased them for. The market is ridiculously overpriced. But I’m sure the older generation probably feels the same about the cars they grew up with.
I have to agree. I’m just glad I was able to get a coupe. I tried to get one years ago when I bought my hatch but they were out of my budget. Still are tbh. I fussed about paying what I did for mine now. That’s the most I’ve spent on a car that didn’t run.
@@beamer8907 eh, that’ll be up to him honestly. I’m more along those lines with mine. I’ll be replacing the brown interior bits with better if I can find what I need including carpet. It was just trashed and black was my only option shy of no carpet. Stock body for me, not sure yet with his but he’s getting a shell with a good qtr and rear end so if he’s going that far as having the damage cut out then I can expect stock body/clean s-chassis. This was a decision made after the video. We’re just waiting on the machine shop currently and that’s putting us on hold.
@@etv9520 deals are out there. Just gotta hunt for them by scouting older neighborhoods where code enforcement isn’t a thing. Having a job where you run routes really helps too. Leave notes and follow up.
@@ShadeTreeBuilt09 i see this super clean zenki in mint condition near my house, not super stock like this, but almost. i want to if its for sale because its just sitting there. it never has any changes everytime i pass by it and still in the same spot.
@@93z32 nah, it’s RU-vid man. I’m bound to get some questionable comments in the future. Lol thanks though for clearing it up. I’ll keep y’all posted on the updates. We got the head back but the parts still haven’t arrived. Go figure
What would you prefer? Let them continue to rust? The rest of us are glad this Nissan is being rescued. The pre-2000 Nissans, before Renault bought them out and started making CVT powered junk, are some of the Japanese automaker's best work. For people who couldn't quite swing the money for a Z31 or Z32 300ZX, these 200/240's were the ticket back in the day.
