I have a large pond on my property and i really liked your fountain idea. I built one using your idea but made some changes. I inserted the bucket from the inside the drum instead of placing it over the bottom cut out. The i use 100% silicon to seal the bucket from both sides. Then i filled with the foam sealer. Once filled i used the cover of the drum to place on top. Cut a hole in the cover just large enough for the pump. I used 2 .....45's so my pump stem comes out the center of the drum. Then made a removable cover over the pump where only the head sticks out. Works beautiful. Next one is going to be better.. I learned my mistakes on the first one.
Thank you for the comment and additional ideas I think I’m going to actually try to make it into an aerator next year, To see if that gets rid of the algae quicker
Glad to help, If your pond is about the same size as mine you may consider the smaller pump if I could do it all over again I would have done that and it would have been cheaper as well
I’m glad I could assist you if you don’t mind share the video on your social media so other people can get help as well instead of using all that foam I found that you can simply use a pool noodle to have the same affect around the rim
Awesome. I’m definitely doing something like this. One question tho- why not use a ring buoy instead of the barrel? Id be worried about getting a leak thru that foam if it starts pulling away from the barrel.
I just moved into a home (MY 1st house!!) on a fairly large pond, but there is no fountain/aeration for algae control. HOA is slow moving (as most are), so I want to create something similar in the meantime. Do you have any ideas on incorporating an aerator? Your thoughts and insights will be very appreciated! Thanks, Adam. *P.S.* I'm sharing this with my favorite HOA Board member - Jon... Who Knows, maybe we can make a few of these for the neighborhood ponds and we can all stop waiting for the rest of the HOA to approve the much needed fountains!!! haha
Thank you for the awesome comment, the pump can actually work as an aerator as well, just put a small diameter hose to the bottom of the pump and have the other end of the hose above water, then put the pump in a bucket and lower it to the bottom of the pond, it works great.
@@dawnd0nyou791 HOA put it off till 1st quarter next year. So disappointed, but at least the ponds are an issue coming up. Never dealt with an HOA Before, so my mom helped me out with the proposals. I'm just glad I had her or it would've fallen by the wayside...
I haven’t noticed a change in my bill. I plug it in every now and then. I didn’t buy a timer for it because that would be added cost but you could put it on a timer and do it like an hour a day or two hours a day and it would be fine I think
Hey awesome fountain build. In the process of doing the same thing myself. Just wondering though as for the extension cord what gauge did you use? Im thinking about going straight to a 12 gauge cord just to be able to handle the power draw and solid 75' distance that it's going to be run.
Don't know why everybody wants to use buckets and lids and bolts and all kinds of stuff to make fountain pond All you need to do is fasten four pieces of insulation foam 2x2 together cut the center out for 2 in or inch and a half pipe then stick your cap in the pipe nipple up in it spray foam around it and then hook your pump to the bottom of the inch and a half pipe done.
Excellent Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you researched - Elenajan Supplement Smasher (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for learning how to shrimp farm like a pro without the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin at last got amazing results with it.
