Hi Paul Nice to see that others are still entranced by 18/19c Horology. I made one of these clocks back in 1982 and it was quite a show piece. I sold it at Sotheby's for a good price and it funded my purchase of a ML7. You will have fun polishing all the brass and making/polishing and blueing all the screws! As an encouragement mine ran quite well, but the timekeeping was affected by the build up of dirt and corrosion on the edges of the ball track. However it is really the appeal of the ball running down the track rather than the timekeeping that matters. I shall watch your efforts with interest. John

I really envy your confidence and ability to buy shed loads of brass 😂 Coming from maintenance in heavy engineering, I also have a touch of envy for taking the time to make something like this. Hi Paul , look forward to following this series of videos with great interest. The Congreve Clock puts me in mind of my favourite 1960 novel "Trustee from the Toolroom " by Neville Shute in which the hero is a Model Engineer by the name of Keith Stewart. In the novel, the Congreve clock is one of his Designs. This is a highly entertaining book and, in my opinion, a must read for all Model Engineers. I re-read this book when ever I feel like a pick-me -up :-)) cheers P

Hello Paul, I'm wondering if you intend to go ahead with this project as I have just completed "roughing" one, i.e., it's completed but not finished as in polished and on a proper stand, only to find that the ball doesn't roll all that freely and the table doesn't always fully index but stops part way through. I would like to see where I've gone wrong by comparing it to yours, especially if you include a fine tuning episode.
