On this week's show, I demonstrate how you can make a simple cork board to use in your shop or office. It's a great project if you still have children that are in school as it gives them somewhere to pin up the clutter instead of having it all over the desktop. I hope you enjoy the show this week. Please like and subscribe.

As a novice woodworker I enjoy your complex builds (rolltop desk). However I'm glad to see the simple builds which allow me to become more skillful. Thank you. 👍

I would say it's a very useful addition to a kitchen or even the workshop. Pinning shopping lists or even plans for builds in the shop.

Good afternoon. What I would like to know is how you keep your workshop so clean. Envy doesn't cover the way I feel when watching your shows and I watch everyone. Fridays and Tuesdays. Keep up the good work. Piet

First of all, thanks for tuning in to the program on a regular basis Piet. Glad to have you as a subscriber. As for the clean shop....it's simple really....a place for everything and everything in its place. Clutter in a shop is a great way to get hurt so cleaning the shop and keeping it organized should be a priority for every shop. Thanks for tuning in this week and for taking the time to leave me a comment.

Watching this in 2022 and it's awesome! I have to ask, what are the small handheld tools you use for the little punch holes? Way better than using a drill for something small like that. Thanks!

@@acutabove_woodworkings Hey sorry to be annoying, but I don't see one that you "pump" like that, just one you twist by hand. Is there a specific name for the one you are using in this video? That specific tool could REALLY come in handy for me! Once again, thanks!

@@invasionbrand I got this item at Lee Valley and it was called a Jeweller's drill. I went on their website this morning and did a search and couldn't find it. After a quick internet search, it would appear that they no longer carry the product. Hopefully you will be able to source it from somewhere else. I found this one on amazon this morning. www.amazon.ca/Saipor-Manual-Jewelry-Plastic-0-3-2mm/dp/B092292PRC/ref=sr_1_13?crid=3P233UDBOIIZS&keywords=jewellers+drill&qid=1672662526&sprefix=jewellers+drill%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-13

Ken, nice project. I really like the small size of the frame. I have been wanting to ask so here it goes.....what size is the break off point for you to keep scrap? I am drowning in small pieces of scrap that I consider too good to throw away. Over time I have seen you dig out some pretty small stuff. I know your shop isn’t that awfully big, so where do you keep all that stuff. An inquiring mind wants to know...LOL
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 5 лет назад
Thanks for the kind words on the project Paul. I'm glad that you liked it. As for the scrap, my cutoff changes depending on my mood. If I think the piece is too small to be milled safely, then it is gone into the firewood bin. When doing one of my model builds, I usually keep all scrap because you never know what you are going to need. I think as long as it is about 3"X3", it would be worth it for me. As for where I keep it all.....it's all in the wood rack with the smaller pieces on a separate shelf at the bottom. I really do need to clean that rack out though so I can inventory what I have. Thanks for tuning in Paul.

I would be more than happy to give you the link to the clamp Raymond. Here it is. www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=31162&cat=1,43293,31162 I absolutely love this clamp and I also have the extensions which come in handy. If you are to get this clamp, you wont be disappointed. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Nice one Kenny, now tell us the truth you made the board to give to your wife, with notes on it saying what you wanted for Christmas ha ha ha. Seriously though i have seen cork boards around the shops, and i have seen cork tiles but i didn't know you could get the cork on a roll? Nice little build there though Ken, love it. Barry (ENG)

Thanks for the kind words Barry, I appreciate it. As for the Christmas list for my wife.....I wouldn't waste a cork board on that. We live in a technology based society so I sent her an email, a text and PDF and a power point presentation. She will also be getting daily scheduled emails reminders of the "wish list" that I have online with my favourite woodworking store. I got this one covered. Thanks for tuning in sir. It's appreciated.

When you have foam behind thin cork, does it still last a long time? I think that tacks would destroy the foam, and the cork board might not work well after a while??
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings Год назад
I guess it would really depend on the amount of use the cork board got. I make this one over 4 years ago and I am still using it to this day with no issues. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Most stationary or craft stores carry rolls of cork. Craft stores like Michaels, and stationary stores such as Staples. I'm not sure if those stores are in your area or not. Barring that, it is available on Amazon. www.amazon.ca/Lorell-Cork-Roll-Natural-LLR84173/dp/B00B0ASXPS/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=cork+roll&qid=1611228600&sr=8-3 I hope this helps. Good Day Sir watching here from Philippines a freelance Fashion Designer and I find it hard to make fashion pattern on the floor so I plan to make my own corkboard table with wood on the back. May I ask if what is the name/brand of adhesive you use? and is it applicable to marine plywood? Looking Forward on your keen response. Thank You and Godbless

The brand name of the spray adhesive I use is called Elmers. But honestly, any spray adhesive will work. It is just fine to apply it to marine grade plywood. I hope this helps. Thank you for tuning in to the show.
