To Make the copydex body ,take a sheet of glass or perspex spread a thin layer of copydex around one inch wide and around 3 to 4 inches long, add your cock pheasant fibres or other fibres at this stage of the process. Allow the copydex to dry, once dry you can then begin the rolling process.

Jacob, with it being natural it will last longer than foam, IMHO 👍🏻👍🏻🧵🧵

Great idea, but the warning text on the Copydex says that it has harmful longtime effects on aquatic organisms. Perhaps not the best glue to use for fishing flies. However, I’m sure you can find similar products that don’t harm the environment. Nice video anyway. Cheers!

Need to know what that warning is pertaining to. Is that while in a liquid form? Does it apply once the Copydex is dry? Is it harmful to aquatic organisms due to/during the manufacturing process? Is that warning from California? (A peanut butter and jam sandwich will require a hazard warning in California!) Once this stuff is dry/cured, all the volatile compounds may have flashed off, making it fine. Need more specific info before writing it off for this use.

Very clever. They need to be used quickly because rubber (Copydex latex is liquid rubber) deteriorates under UV. so they stick to themselves and to fly boxes.

Burton, this technique was created by a gentleman called Barri Cooke. It’s handy to know and it’s somewhat got lost because it’s easy to buy the extended bodies these days 👍🏻👍🏻
