It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who generates his ideas using AI to see if I like them before trying to design them, I run stable diffusion locally on my machine, I customized it to my liking, and it's been an excellent brainstorming tool!
i looked up and watched the video you sourced the sculpting technique from and came back rewatched this one. The guy forgets he is doing a tutorial 2/3 til the end, while he's in Substance. Ive never seen that before. Funny. His Blender version is older and things have moved around so i just came back and took notes on yours for the settings. Glad i watched both for focus aspects.
You can persevere, don't always think that you need to have the latest hardware to work, plenty of people do amazing stuff with very limited hardware and people have been making really cool renders many many years ago with slow gpu's or even on their cpu, be clever about your render settings, render only certain areas while you're testing things out, maybe batch 4 or 5 renders and leave your computer on at night so you have different camera settings to choose from the next morning, keep up at it and I'm sure you'll eventually be able to afford a new shiny gpu and you'll even appreciate it more once you have it, cheers!
awesome videos. I noticed the particle system you used for the falling debris. Do you have a video on this specifically as I was very intrigued as to how you went about this. Seems a lot quicker then manually placing things like I do. TIA
Need some help! Whenever i import a quixel texture after modeling, all i get is a base color, no texturing. I tried to double chekck wih the video that the nodes were plugged in correctly, and still nothing. I add the same texture to a basic cube, and i have to problems. Does anyone know what could be up?
You need to add Texture Coordinator and Mapping nodes in the Shader Editor to the material that you uploaded, and select UV in Texture coordinator, you can also try not to do full UV, but apply UV from the view, to do this, go to edit mode and press U, and then select Project from View
@@lena_bnk Thank you so much. I used the 2nd option you gave because it looked like something similar Max used in the vid when he rotated it. Been pulling my hair out over this
@@Glasseyyy You are welcome) It is possible that yes, the Project from view (Bounds) is better suited to the type of scan for rotating and scaling the texture on the model
So... Midjourney learns to drearm(generate) concepts based on Max's art, Decades later Max uses Midjouney... Max turns the Midjourney's concept a reality(3D)... Jokes aside, great artwork. Thanks for the workflow..
Hey man this is a great video and I would love to carry on. I am still very new to blender and I was just wondering if you have a video on the plugins you use and how you setup your layout. For example I couldnt figure out how to get that camera view you have in the bottom right and also how you imported new textures so quickly like that for the cliff rock.
How are you isolating the view of the blown out areas of the camera raw filter around 32:00? I see you quickly toggling between normal preview and an isolated view but I don't know what shortcut you're using! Edit: I think I found it, Alt key while sliding!
Hey Max, I have a bizarre question. What is the best way to consume your tutorials?. 1. Follow along with blender opened up 2. Get general tips and techniques 3. Run through a video and apply learnings into your own scene or 4. Apply key findings immediately by recreating a variation of your scene. Im curious please, I constantly feel like im not maximizing your tutorials and its frustrating
I'm absolutely in love with your work ! But I have a problem with the very first step lol. When I finish sculpting, I apply a new material from quixel just like you did and I just get a sort of brown color and nothing in the uv editor.. Can you help me deal with it ? (sorry for the bad english, I'm a french dude)
You can try not to do full UV, but to apply UV from the view, to do this, go to edit mode and press U, and then select Project from View (Hello from Russsia;) ) dont forget select all verticles OR Project from View (bounds) try to experiment And don't forget to arrange the view of the object so that the texture falls like paper on a bottle
@@lindenknights88 Many of Max' tutorials are really for late beginners (?) to intermediate Blender users. However I learned a lot with his tutorials by rewatching them + 'trial and error'.
If you find the option in the object properties you can right click (I think, not at my pc at the moment) on the option and choose to set a new shortcut and you can choose whichever key you like as the shortcut. Hope that helps!
lost me at 7:10 adding the texture; the texture I had came with 4 different variations I did not know which to pull in I love the work but I gotta find someone to explain the devil in the details for me; I am a beginner
When I'm finished sculpting, my mesh is very high-poly and it causes Blender to crash when I enter the rendered view. Anyone got a fix for this? I've tried the decimate modifier but it didn't help. I don't even know if it's the high poly count that causes issues. Might be the ancient occlusion? I feel like that is when it started crashing but idk. Help.
Try setting the dyntopo to constant detail and choose a value like 20 or something of the sort. Also remember to apply scale and turn on statistics in the overlays menu(the 2 circle in the top right) to keep track of poly count. Hope this helps!
Could be the ambient occlusion. I'm having the same issue. Every time I go into rendered view, my blender keeps on loading kernels and crashes. In smaller scenes setting the shading to 'smooth' helps but in bigger scenes, the ambient node always seems to cause problems. (Same for the bevel node) I'm still looking for a solution cuz almost every tutorial for shading includes edge masks or the pointiness node. It really sucks because I want to level up my shading game but no one seems to have this issue.
@@sennedelathouwer6878 Yeah it's the ambient occlusion for me as well. Had the same issue in another project when using the same method. No idea how to fix it. Maybe just paint edge wear manually 💀
After sculpting my textures from bridge aren't being applied though. When I apply a texture only color shows up and not the texture in itself. Help please!
Question. why is the texture I exported from quixel bridge appear to be just a principle bsdf no matter what texture i choose. I've installed the addon in blender. the export was also successful as it says on quixel bridge. but the texture ball are just all blank. is there anyway to fix that? Thank you so much !
hi, not sure if this is still relevant, but I had a similar problem with the two versions of Blender that I use, and I found the following solution (not sure if it's correct, but it worked for me) - go to the "UV Editing" tab -> go to edit mode -> select your entire mesh -> press U -> "Cube Projection" (or "Project from View", for example). and then scale it to your taste (you can adjust it in the shader editor using the "Mapping" node)
For static images, these look cool, but you should really focus on optimisation. Your lighting would have been significantly smoother if you had optimised the pillar mesh, as a lot of processing went wasted on detail that isn't visible.
dude, absolutely love this. i have ADHD so school/work settings always mess me up. Same goes with very teacher like tutorials. but yours is kind of like a conversation. It feels better to listen to and pay attention to. Its hard for me to find tutorials that work for me and this is one of them. keep it up max.
Hi there hello, so I was following along as I was really inspired to do this, and I noticed that in my Blender the Ambient Occlusion thing that highlights the outlines does not work. Does anybody have a solution for that? Other than that awesome video really inspiring!
Not sure if this will help you but ambient occlusion only shows up in Cycles, not Eevee. So if you're in material preview mode or your render settings are set to Eevee then you won't see it!
hey, I just wanted to ask if there's ever going to be a possibility of you sectioning up your course a bit. I'd really love to just get the environment courses, or even just one of them, but the entire package with the assets packs, courses, photoscans, skies, overlays, discord and everything gets just way too expensive for me.
