Marquardt Lund, flintknapper from Germany, making a four-sided flint axe from the funnel beaker culture out of a block of grey Falster flint, using hammerstones and punches out of antler and copper. Working time was about 2 hours. The axe should be ground on a sandstone slab afterwards.

Don´t worry, this replica and many more were in fact made for scientific purposes to understand prehistoric lithics, the way they were manufactured and used, and of course all of them are clearly marked as replica.

I am a big fan of flints from my native country! Good to see some germans knapping for once. Do you have any extra pieces of flint you would be interested in selling. I would love to make some axes myself. Send me a message

why the flint stone so easy to break?
@ulfr23
@ulfr23 8 лет назад
Because of its crystalline structure - sometimes flint is called "a fluid with extremely high surface tension". It breaks like glass.

Flints are baked jellyfish that were backed in warm limestone at the start of The Flood 4,350 years ago.

Ok, - explains all those baked sea urchins and squids, too ... delicious - but who fired the oven - what kind of wood did they fire?

your childishness is showing - have you any plans to grow up? I give you solid science and all you do is sneer like a fool. GOD added the heat. It is science that is well above your level of understanding. Stick to watching The Simpsons.

" ... grow up?" Give me one good reason why (Joni said)! Please note, that the word "science" comes from the Latin word "scire", which means "to know", not "to believe". Science is knowledge, not believeledge. I stick to the words of Mr. Einstein: "Two things are endless: the universe and human stupidity. I´m not yet sure about the universe" and I´m sure he sneered, too, when he said that. What in the world and in your opinion was God´s plan, when SHE created fantastillions of tons of baked jellyfish, that don´t look like jellyfish and contain things such as e.g. petrified shark teeth. Oh, sorry, I forgot - jellyfish feed on sharks, of course ...

uflre can you tell me why it seems sine qua non for childish people like yourself to hide behind silly made up childish names to post your idiocies? And FYI if you knew any science at all you would know that flints are solid silica but often have bit sof food inside them - ergo they are baked jellyfish. You are a prime example of a Dunning Kruger Inferior in that you sneer at everything that is above your level of understanding. but please tell me - why hid behind the childish name?

Sorry, dear, I´m fed up with this chat now, I have more important things to do than arguing with cuckoo bots. You don´t offer, you offend, you don´t inform, you insult, so please look for someone else to play silly games with. EOF

Actually at the time of this Technology I believe a Neolithic (New Stone Age) approach included the use of copper tools. Danish Daggers made of stone were the poor man's copper dagger substitute. However, check this . (See information on Danish Daggers : Dr. Callahan publications)
