I literally just told my husband and son last night that one of the simple joys in life is a lovely glass of wine with a bite of good cheese. I love that you can have similar experiences, like making a killer charcuterie, no matter where you live. What you showed here was the experience many will have, which is to go to a local grocer, which again goes to show that no matter where you live or what your resources are, you can create the same delightful meal.

Les Frenchies is one of the best RU-vid channels featuring nice foods and experiences which are good and at reasonable prices. Very down to earth people. It’s so nice seeing them appreciate each other with date night. How romantic. I have found their shopping suggestions to be reachable by most people who like things French but who might not be so fortunate to live or travel there. I go to Paris annually and just returned after a two week stay. I walk, use the metro and love the bus system. Normal day to day things that I like doing. The charcuterie shops, boulangeries, etc are everywhere. Not so in the US except for larger cities. So we shop in places where that stuff is available like Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Publix, etc. Even in France, “regular folks“ buy stuff like that at local smaller stores like Intermarche and Monoprix. I’m heading to Naples Florida on Monday. Not sure where Coleen and Antoine are but I’m sure they’re having a wonderful time together. Bientôt…Josef.

There are 2 Costco’s just outside of Paris. One is inside the outer loop north of Massy and the other is East of that. Also, good cheeses from France and Belgium (well, my taste buds think they are good) at Aldi grocery stores and Ingles Markets can be had in the U.S. I don’t work for any of them but my husband enjoyed charcuterie boards and I would make them up when he was in the mood. Fun video. Notice the difference in pronunciation immediately...not surprisingly the French drops a vowel. Both presentations were great. When we grew up, everything was called hors d'oeuvre. No crudite..just vegetable platter. No charcuterie..just meat/cheese plates. Nuts went in bowls. Mom did make canapes...yes. Never thought about wine while prepping. Thanks, Antoine. Ah! You picked a great topic! I have always been desperate when looking American charcuterie board with only one or two pieces of charcuterie and tons of fruits or cheese. After watching the video I regret that your French charcuterie board is so Americanized: some cheese, nuts, some Italian charcuterie… There are enough types of ham and salami types in France to remain there. And charcuterie is not limited to that. Yes you added the easiest-to-eat pâté, but there are other types, some terrines, pâté croûte, rillettes, not to mention other things like boudin, grattons, rillons… And at the end it is great to learn that the American could make great charcuterie boards too.
@adrienhb8763
@adrienhb8763 Год назад
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Indeed many options. In a Parisian bistro, there are usually three options : - charcuterie board - cheese board - cheese and charcuterie board And yes Italy and Spain have great charcuterie. And other countries have some great stuff. But well if charcuterie is a French word, there is a reason for that. ;)

Did you find that there was significant difference between the cost for this in France vs the USA? I'm think this cheese and cured meat is more normal in France while in the USA these would be considered to be specialty items with a higher cost. Thanks for the great video. Hello from Canada !

In France most of the meat is local, the EU norms are waaay more strict than the American ones and we have the french law as well that push it farther wich means we have good quality meat for a pretty fair price, if you go to a specialist the meat will be even better, but it's kinda expensive thus why we usually go for the retail store meat and cheese rathen than a fromager or boucherie

When it comes to raw or dry hams, I like Pata Negra and Prosciutto di Parma, but also low-salt hams from Bayonne and Kintoa (Basque Country). I also love the French "paté de campagne"! As far as the cheeses are concerned, I'm very picky and my choice goes to French and Swiss cheeses only. Bonne appétit à vous deux

The purpose of a board is to slice on it. It’s used when guests will be slicing cheese themselves, and it can’t be crowded. If the meats and cheeses are sliced ahead of time, any plate or platter can be used for serving. Due to bacteria and guests’ dietary and religious preferences, I don’t like meats and cheeses touching, and I like fruits, nuts, and crackers in separate dishes. They can be displayed together in an appealing manner.
