How to make an easy garden gate from RECLAIMED WOOD. I had some old Cypress wood and Madison and Cameron helped me build the best garden gate ever. 😉 While the gate was being built Kim got the potatoes planted in our Back to Eden Garden.
Thanks for watching!

Planting potatoes.... now that brings back some memories! Using a horse to plow the lot, dragging a chain behind the horse to mix the fertilizer in, putting the seed potatoes in with the eyes up (gotta see the sun!), plowing between the furrows to cover....then came time to gather ALL those potatoes!! Been a long ago it seems! Great project you're doing... well done! Take care, be safe and God bless!

I love how you show your girls how to do things that many may think is just for men. Hard to be self sufficient if someone doesn’t teach you.

Just wanted to say, that I had come across your channel yesterday and have watched several so far. I respect the fact that you are taking the time to teach your girls how to do things. I was the only girl out of 6 kids lol. My daddy & older 4 brothers always taught me how to do stuff. From how to read a tape measure, swing a hammer to some auto repair items. But, my mom also taught my brothers how to cook, sew, clean, can & garden as well. Our parents wanted us all to be self sufficient. That way when we got older, we not only had the knowledge that we could pass on to our own children when the time came. But, they said we should marry because we want to, not because we felt we needed too. My dad could cook a mean stew as well lol. Just nice to be independent and self reliant. Makes you more confident and self assured as you go through life. Not to mention, power tools are a lot of fun! lol.

You are absolutely correct. Being self sufficient gives you so much more freedom in all your choices. Your parents were clearly wise. That is what we want for our daughters.

There are many Scottish dialects and accents. Yours is actually much better than anything we usually hear in films (from Americans). I would say your accent would be right at home up North. :)

Nice job. We've tried different methods of planting potatoes and the one I personally like the best is using 5-6 gallon food grade buckets from Lowes. Easy to add more dirt to top and super easy to harvest, no bending. Dump into wheel barrow. Never have to dig the make suure you've gotten all the tatters. Then refill bucket with the dirt and more starters and wait for 2nd crop.

It's great that you involve the kids. Now ya need a support board from the top at the latch assembly going to the lower hinge, ya like this \ so to put all the stress on the lower hinge due to the fact that there is little to no movement at the bottom of the post.

Put a wire turnbuckle on it so it won't sag, which will make your latch not line up and start to rub.

I too have daughters! I am thankful that they are interested in my hobbies (to do list items). I’ve been blessed with a son recently, a five year difference from the youngest of 3 daughters, and I have to say he’s a monster compared to them. As I always said, I wanted children, not a certain gender! My girls are more than capable to learn anything and more than my son will.

Why not leave the t posts there and inset the posts in front and u bolt the t post to the wood 4x4. Then build what ever style gate you want? Just an idea

Ok, this is one of my fav channels, but holy crap, your soil...removing t-posts like that? That is virtually in possible in Texas unless you use a jeep jack and chain....its like the Texas Soil just accepts them and says, you're here forever.

Jesus loves you and died on a cross and rose three days later taking our place and paying our debt (for the wages of sin is death) so you can have eternal life and be forgiven of sin if you repent and pick up your cross and follow him daily
