A small heads up! I'll be taking a break from You Tube for the next two weeks to focus on finishing a few art commissions I need to get done. If you're following me on Patreon I'll still be uploading there, but You Tube will have a delay of two weeks.

I've done 2 heat bags. The first one I did with rice in a sock. But I find that, with the humidity in the microwave, the rice tends to slightly cook and then it smells. It bothered me so I ended up throwing the rice away. The second one I did with cherry pits/stones in a sock. I saved all the cherry stones we had from the ones we ate in a summer from our tree. I dumped them all on the floor and let the ants clean them. Then I gathered them, washed them in hot water, put them in a sock, an now I have a very nice heat bag that doesn't cook. 😊 And to use it, 1 minute in the microwave.

Ohhh I’ve been dying to know what to put in one of these. A little tip: if your hand sewing something with a thick fabric, like four layers of cotton, or thick wool etc, smaller needles (for some strange reason) are easier to use. Just thought I’d say this as it might help with how sore you fingers get - from personal expriance, using a large needle on thick fabric is not fun.

My mom used to make something similar! She would fill it with dried corn instead. She also made a cover for the bag (similar to a pillow case) so that we could just throw that in the wash if it got dirty instead of having to take the whole thing apart. We usually microwave them for around 2 to 3 minutes. They are AMAZING in the winter, nice and toasty :D

I work as a Nursing assistant and I've had patients come in with something similar but corn instead of beans. If I remember correctly I would heat them up in the microwave for about 1 min 30 seconds and oof they were lovely! I'm not sure why I forgot about them but I know I wanted one whenever I would help them use theirs loll. Thanks for the reminder I need to make one now :p

i did one years ago which i filled with wheat kernels that they sell for bird food here. Retains the heat nicely and doesn't smell at all, or at least i don't smell it. I made a long one with 3 sections so the filling doesn't escape as i need it to heat my both shoulders and neck. I made a pillow case for it too so if it gets dirty i can just take that off and wash it and not wash and ruin the whole wheat bag. Good idea to use those bags some new products come in, hadn't tought of that before! This is a fun project and a nice homemade gift idea :)

I have one with wheat and also know of ones with cherry stones that you can heat up in the microwave! My mother made mine and it's the best for period cramps and cold nights ^^

Fantastic video! A friend made me a bag like this with rice inside and I love using it for period cramps. It’s perfect to use when sitting at a desk while working and it stays warm for so long.

This is absolutely incredible my mother swears by keeping hot water bottles on demand for any type of pain or discomfort and she’s absolutely right but l do tend to burn myself more so easily than other people so this is such a wonderful alternative thank you very very much Klaire! ♥️👏🏼

I have a wheat heat pack that I use on my thighs after walking a bit more than I should, my neck if I’ve slept funny or played video games too long (My tv is at a weird angle), and for period cramps - they’re amazing and also great in winter when sitting down and not moving much haha

Holy flip I've never actually seen someone else with costochondritis! Mines been acting up so bad lately with all the stress of work and the pandemic and the loss of my dog and its nice to know a bit of heat helps it ❤️

The worst it got was three months solid of it. I wanted to die, it hurt so bad. I might do a video at some point on the things that I've found help it stop get to that point where it feels like you're being stabbed every time you breathe.

I have one of these filled with organic cherry stones. When I heat it up in the microwave they give off a roasted fruity caramel aroma which is very soothing.

I never knew potatoes grew fruit! They actually look like tomatoes. Wait, aren't tomatoes and potatoes part of the nightshade family?

I did the same with rice and an old knee high sock when I was in college because it’s all I had. Worked great but the cooked rice didn’t smell too great I’m eager to make a different one with beans now

I have a heat pack like this that you can microwave, it has buckwheat in it and is held closed with really strong Velcro; my point is though I does wonders for period cramps 👍🏼 just a minute in the microwave, slap it on your stomach and bye bye cramps and keeps you nice and warm 😊

@@KlairedeLysOfficial I read up on it after the video and apparently they only produce fruit when the weather has been cool and water supply sufficient, pretty cool!

Is it possible to scent the heat bag? I’ve tried this before with rice but the scent of cooked rice was pretty bad. 😕
@KlairedeLysOfficial
@KlairedeLysOfficial 4 года назад
Add dried lavender to the bag (or rosemary, mint etc. but it has to be dried before). I'm not a fan of the rice either. You can use buckwheat husks, popcorn, beans or cherry pits instead.

i suffer from costochondritis as well. i know what you mean about it getting much worse. i'm curious though, why not use an electric heating pad? i know you like to do things naturally, but i would think the heat from bean would not last long enough for relief.

I'm terrible with sewing machines, I have one, but each time I use it I want to throw the thing out of the window. I'd much rather hand sew.
