Hey boss. I’ve went through your video several times. Got the puzzle lib downloaded. But when I open any of the puzzles in lightburn, the puzzle pieces are not double lined like they are in the video. I’m not sure if I’m missing something, or if I downloaded the wrong file?? 🤷♂️ but I downloaded every file you gave on your site yesterday (12-12-2023) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I love your videos. They are so helpful. I am very new to lasers and find the information very useful. I hae downloaded the art galleries and the cut files for my lasers for your site. I can not seem to find the puzzle ones though.
They're not on the forum anymore. You can use this website to generate a puzzle: gists.rawgit.com/Draradech/35d36347312ca6d0887aa7d55f366e30/raw/b04cf9cd63a59571910cb226226ce2b3ed46af46/jigsaw.html
Hi Rich I have downloaded the puzzles to my Art Library but they don't have double cut lines for the pieces or outline. It was puzzles V2 that downloaded Can you help Derrick
What if you're wanting a puzzle using an image with no background? Like a downloaded image of say Santa Clause. How can I get the laser to cut out outline of Santa without having these itty bitty pieces? TIA
Hi Rich i can not find the file Puzzles in the forum ,I can find one marked puzzles - V - 5 but this does not have the double cut line where can I find them please
Hello, I don't know if you will still reply to the comments, but I would be interested to know if you know the way to leave the puzzle pieces in a single cut and not in two passes.
Yes, just ungroup them and delete one, and then change the passes to 2 in the cut settings editor. I have changed all of my puzzle downloads to 1 line now.
Hi Rick, Another outstanding video. Thanks so much for doing this for all of us. I noticed in the preview you put up that this project would take over 12 hours. Is that time correct? And is this typical of a project? Something like this?
Thanks for the video. I was wondering if you had a tutorial about making the cutouts? I want to turn Xmas cards into small puzzles, so I need to be able to make a grid at the correct dimensions. Thanks again.
Good video bro. One question, how do i get my cuts on my layers to cut at certain rotation. I move the layers and it still does not set up the way I won't. If you or anyone else can help me I would appreciate it. Thank you
I've only done one jigsaw myself, it was one of the single line cuts as opposed to double that you show, and I found with kerf pieces were too loose. Wouldn't this shown here make the gaps between pieces even more pronounced?
Hi Rich sorry to bother you. I am slowly going through your RU-vid video's and loving them all. I am only a year into laser's and I now have the sculpfun S30 ultra 33W. I just came across the this video reference jigsaw puzzles. I have had a look in the forum art library but I cannot find the puzzle file in their. If you still have it would it be possible to point me in the right direction. Many thanks and once again another great video. 👏
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Hi and thanks for the quick reply. I am a member on your forum and I have most of your free art library, but I can't see the jigsaw puzzle file. I will log back in and take a closer look thank you 👌
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Hi again sorry to be a pain. I have searched the whole library for the puzzle.lbart but I haven't had any luck. from page 1 to page 4. It could be that this video is 2 years old and the file may have been removed. never mind I will try to work it out myself and I appreciate you have taken time out to reply. thanks for the video's. Mick 👏
Mecpaw coming in Friday, will set up and start free trial of Light Burn, then add lib files and burn my first image. I have my mind set on a kinetic sculpture at some time in the future. Thanks for the reply.
Hi There @The Louisiana Hobby Guy (Rich) ....first off all....i just bought my first laser (sculpfun S9) and learnder A LOT from you.....CUDOS !!! But when i check your site and download your updated puzzles for ightburn...they are NOT double lined....is that a roblem...no use for that anymore ? greetz from the Netherands
Brilliant, I've tried puzzles before but always had too much trouble. This will make it so easy I guess I'll have to try again. 😁 Thanks for the video, great to have you back!
Thanks for all your suggestions on cutting a jigsaw puzzle, operating from the controller. Today I manage to cut a jigsaw puzzle with engraved photo grabbed from the Internet. The actual engraving is not up to par, but the picture was of a couple strolling in the rain. Very cloudy day picture.
hi Rich i just downloaded and checked out these files then took a look at the attached vid and in the vid it mentions you have to have a two line cut to make these puzzle templates work .. thing is all the designs in your new updated v5 puzzle Templates are all single lined :/ can you explain to me how to make these templates double lined or if there is a vid made for explaining how to ?? thank you , :D
Absolutely Brilliant vidclip ..... Greetings from New Zealand ..... I just happened upon your vidclip and am Totally intriqued ..... Will drop you an email with More Questions .... :-) :-) :-) .... Best to All from NZ
This was so helpful! But I am having trouble finding the file for the single line version. The double lines are still very loose pieces. Can you share the link to buy the single line puzzle? EDIT - I found it! I didn't realize there was a forum separate from the website.
I downloaded puzzle from Cuttle. When previewing cut file I get message "8 shape(s) were set to fill, but weren't closed. These have been removed as they cause problems....Options are Show me or Continue?
I watched this video before but was a newbie and figured this was beyond me. NOW, I watched it again and see some perfect personalized Christmas presents for the grandkids. I love the tabs/bridges function which is a BIG help. Great video Rich.
I have another question I have been taking photo graphs and mounting them on card stock then applying the puzzle template of yours. After running the file the kerfs seem to be too wide. and I have followed your kerf set up video to create the off set for a tighter fit but they are way to lose. what am I doing wrong?
I have tried this cutting out the puzzle pieces with the double lines and it is just to sloppy of a fit. if you just make 1 cut in the middle of the pieces they will fit together but I am having problems getting it to trace down the middle of the lines.
You have to download them to the right folders Katie. I have full instructions on the download page Katie. Some folks have to right click on the files and choose, "Save link as" to be able to specify a folder.
Another great video as usual. I think this a great idea. Going to try this with pics of my grandson. I downloaded the puzzle file. When I put one in Lightburn though it doesn't show the double kerf lines when I zoom in and there is no perimeter line on the outside of the puzzle. Am I doing something wrong?
i was wondering what happen to you not heard from you in a while .....glad all is well and you are back to some what of a normal life and back up and going .....as always great videio and i will give it a try and see what happens
Thank you so much. I bought my first laser engraver and this helps me so much to save a lot of time and i learned a lot in this short and easy explained tutorial.
hi there Rich good video just wondered if you could make a video on actually making the pieces step by step so i can create my own puzzles would like to learn and you make your videos so easy to follow thanks and hope you can find time to make the video
Rich Lightburn should be paying YOU! You are a wealth of information! Or I guess so many of US that use Lightburn are un willing to read the documentation! I will say it is a lot to digest.😁🛫
The only file I see in your members only download section is Puzzles-v-5. When I install that into Lightburn 1.2.01, they seem to all be single lines, not double lines like in the video. Am I looking at it wrong? (I am new to Lightburn) Also: Since there is a slight gap between all the pieces when you cut (so each piece is cut individually), when you place your photo on top of the puzzle pieces, it seems that you will be missing these tiny gaps in the photo when you put the pieces together. as a puzzle. Wouldn't/couldn't it be noticeable?
Hey Rich, another fantastic tutorial. I just downloaded and installed your V-5 Puzzle library and when I drag a pattern into Lightburn, they are not double lined, they are all single lines...am I missing something? I know I am, as it's alwasy 97% user error :)
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy ok thanks Rich. Next dumb question would be, do they cut fine with the single line? And then for your template to fit whatever image, just duplicate the outside perimeter?
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Although you can't edit a video, you can put a text overlay to point out changes/mistakes/improvements at certain moments in the video. Maybe that can help in some cases.
Thank you for the great videos you definitely make things easier to understand! I just became a member of the forum and downloaded the puzzle pieces which only have a single line. I researched it and made sure it was in line mode but also saw another that said it is only a single line now is that correct?
I just ran across this video and it is great. I did see the response about glung a color picture to 3mm ply and cutting out the puzzle. I wonder if a person glued the picture on the material and then cut it from the back side if that wouldwork better?
Hi, thanks for this tutorial! I may have missed something but I can't find the puzzle art library in the forum (I am a member). Any chance you can post a link? :) Thanks!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks. I did use the search but couldn't find it at the beginning. After some more research I now found it, but I saw several people commented on the forum they couldn't find it either. Maybe worth pinning a post with the exact search term to look for. Thanks anyway - that's awesome!
why do you make it so difficult for newbies, i joined your forum and still cannot find the down load for puzzle, you make it very discouraging for people who are BRAND NEW. maybe you should take into consideration everyone is not computer savy or laser savy, thats why we come to youtube
Sorry if you're having trouble Lori, but I try and make it as easy as possible! Here's how easy it is: Login into the forum --> Click on Member's Only Files & Downloads --> Click on Laser Cut Puzzle with template. *Literally TWO clicks!* I don't think anyone can make it any easier...
WOW!!! The audacity of some people! Rich, on behalf of the thousands of inexperienced, computer illiterate, NOOB's that you have helped (especially me) I apologize that someone would respond to you in that manner! I have been putting in the work, studying hard, and feel like I am making excellent progress in Lightburn University with Professor Rich as my instructor. When I have a question I actually go to your extensive library and forum for the answers, and even if my inexperience or ignorance couldn't find the answer I would never blame in you! Thank you for what you have done for us all.
at 2:59 I am doing something wrong . I imported a pic but I dont get the option to apply the mask to the image. how are you selecting both the image and the square template behind it?
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy i did that. i tried skewed images off center, lager image over the template, smaller image within the template. so I am doing something wrong. I tried control A but that selected EVERYTHING including the puzzle pieces. i used a jpeg for the image I wanted for the puzzle. does it have to be a different file type?
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I had to assign it a cut layer. Then it worked . However the puzzle pieces don't show through like yours. But it. Looks correct in the preview.
I'm just beginning my laser journey, actually I have not yet bought a laser. Could you laminate a high-quality color picture onto a piece of plywood and then use your template to cut it into pieces? What would be the problems with this?
Well, a typical 5W diode laser produces about 3255 Kelvin, or 5399° F when focused to a 1mm beam. The speed at which it travels significantly lowers the temperature, but it still does vaporize wood or plastic; that's how it cuts. It would do the same to printed photos and melt or burn all of the edges.
