In the 2+ years of watching these videos, I've gone from knowing nothing about leather working to making coasters, a Bible cover and motorcycle tool bags and phone cases. Thank you so much for all of these, Chuck is a master at teaching.

OLD Leather Smith here, just found this one Chuck, Very nice job, easy pattern 4 beginners, when I make a case of any size I ALWAYS line it with sheep skin, and roll it at the bottom so nothing is going 2 come in contact with a hard surface inside or outside. I also never tie knots in over 40 years I have never had a project come apart. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

Chuck you are nothing but good medicine. I can be very confident in myself trying more upscale projects, I have been doing knife sheaths and holsters for a long time, I don't like cookie cutter projects ,so I try and make my knife sheaths and holsters different every time. THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR TIME

OLD LEATHER SMITH here, hi Chuck, 4 us older people who don't wear a belt, I mount clips 2 the wings, holds just as well, I also ALWAYS use SHEEP WOOL in side so NO SCRATCHES on glass, I prefer chrome tan but veg tan also works, it also creates a pocket, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

Thanks, Chuck! Another informative video. How do you feel about starting your stitching in the middle of a project and working towards the ends in two steps, to save the amount of thread you have to wrestle with?
@WeaverLeatherSupply

I have no problems with that! Especially if it's a large project and almost impossible to use one piece of thread.

Hi chuck, love your video series, just have one question, on the pattern material, (plastic) what do u use to draw on it, without smudging the lines, i've tried pen, pencil,
@WeaverLeatherSupply
@WeaverLeatherSupply 3 года назад
Hi Daniel, I use a regular ballpoint pen on mine and I usually don't have issues. You could use a fine tip Sharpie and just make sure to let it dry before cutting out the pattern. That shouldn't smudge.

Chuck, is there any need to "do something" with the top outside corners? (that tiny little square bit just outside of the stitch line) I noticed you did not and just wanted to ask a pro. thanks for these vids, they are amazing.

when you cut the rounds by making many cuts...wouldn't burnishing the edges of the leather also cause the curves to soften up a bit? Also with the stitching chisels...what was the purpose of the blue bands on each of them?
@Alagachak
@Alagachak 3 года назад
I would imagine the blue tape on the chisels are there to make the size of them readily identifiable, as in distance between teeth. I got three sets and man do they get mixed up when your moving between projects and days... not to horrible, but I really should mark them...
@WeaverLeatherSupply
@WeaverLeatherSupply 3 года назад
Hi Art, For the corners, I like to get them as smooth as possible with the knife and then if they are still rough just run some high grit sandpaper over them before burnishing. This will help get rid of any roughness. The chisels are marked with the colored rubber bands for size. We have 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm sizes available and each set has a different color band so you can easily identify them.

This does’t pertain to this video but I am just starting leather and have a couple of questions. Do you wet leather before using a die cutter? And Do you wet your leather before dying it?
@WeaverLeatherSupply
@WeaverLeatherSupply 3 года назад
Hi there! No, I do not wet my leather for die cutting or dyeing the leather. The only time I wet my leather is if i'm carving/tooling or wet molding.

Hi Michelle, You could use this same concept but just leave off the tabs on the side where the belt loops through. Instead you would just need to add a clip on the back piece of the leather case.
